That high pressure in Greenland is known as the "Greenland block." which has occurred frequently over the last 5-10 years. Its prevents cold air from hitting greenland forcing the arctic air into the southern US. It was indeed in the 50s in southern greenland last january according to Weather Underground, thus inferring the melting of the icecaps there. But I believe this Block is enitirely natural, thus making the arctic warming a natural cause, not a man-made cause.

Carl Parker, you're a liar. Temperatures in Greenland were NOT in the 50s at the time. If temperatures are that frigid in Canada, then Greenland, most of which is in the Arctic Circle, would be just as cold and colder!

Not to take sides in the debate but here are some hard facts. In Kangerlussuaq it was a record 46 degrees on 12/31/09 and up to 53 degrees on 12/14/09. These are massive record breaking high temperatures -- although they did not last long. By the time Clint checked the temperatures they had already fallen back down to less than 10 degrees F.
