Yes, he constituted an all-purpose, two-way guard: tough, athletic, acrobatic, explosive, and an incredible streak ("binge" may be the better word) scorer for a quarter or a half. But ultimately, he proved to be a highly inefficient scorer.

So certainly, Maxwell represented a player who opposing teams needed to be aware of (he could go off at any moment), he played tough defense, and he played with great heart. But his rates of conversion proved very low.

In 1994, they went up 2-0, winning the first two games in Houston, and then were leading Game Three in Phoenix by fourteen after the first quarter, by eight at halftime, and by ten early in the third quarter. But after scoring 16 in the first half, Barkley only scored 2 after halftime and attempted 0 free throws for the game.
