You can't read logic into these commercials--they have a lot to the general Japanese aversion to English---they see a foreigner and automatically think that if they can't speak English to him/her, communication is impossible.-- I guess if the girl had come back looking older and wearing different clothes, there wouldn't have bee a commercial.
