  • Thank you for talking professionally about this.

  • Are foley catheters supposed to be painful? When I had my hystorectomy, they put one in me and it was so painful, the doctors thought I was having a heart attack because my pulse was so high. It was the most painful expirence of my life and I tend to have a high pain tolerence.

  • @misspinkpunkykat Sometimes they are uncomfortable, but most of the time not. Maybe it wasn't inserted far enough? I'm not sure why it was so painful.

  • @hdryver The doctor said it might have been too big. I also had a male nurse talking care of me, I'd hate to think he put it there and was looking up there.

  • The more I watch your vids....the more I become emabarrased to say I'm a nurse. You are nothing but a "talking head." You are the type that is so enlightened. So enamored. "Preaching" to those of us that have earned our stripes....not just a diploma. You appear to be so phony I truly hope its not true. Did you really just bounce around in your tank top while telling us to "call the doctor" so he or she can put us on the right f'ing course? YOU are looking for a doctor to call "husband."

  • @2007Speed6 I feel that you are completely unfair with your assumed judgement of this person. Let me guess you are a the crotchety old nurse that everyone bitches about because you let everything and anything stress you out, you also must think you are paid to little for all the work you do. Guess what if you don't have a passion or LOVE for this profession then GTFO also this is youtube and there is the "back" button on your browser you are MORE than welcome to go find another video to troll.

  • this person? get a life. she wants to have sex with a doctor and you jiggle a reply saying "nuh uhh!" you are a tramp too. after both of you are done shaking your boobs for the next doctor....you will realize what nursing is about...care of the sick and injured. not a big house and servants to take care of your illegitimate children. whore(s).

  • @StupidTwiLamb You and this so-called nurse need real-life experience. That doesn't mean sleeping with that "hot doctor" that you giggle about while shopping for shoes.

  • I can hardly wait. It is my one personal bugaboo.Years ago when I was an EMT and realized what my peeves were I decided to "try to get through it". We dropped a patient in the ER and I knew the guy was going to get a Foley. So I went in to watch the nurse put it in.He started snaking in the tube and noticed my discomfort. To break the silence and get a little education I ask him how he knew when to stop. He didn't look up but answered when you get a urine return..... or blood. I ran screaming.

  • rss22 what a sexist horrible bitch His body His choice men should not let bitches like you anywhere near their junk what a horrible feminst princess.

  • I'm horrible at female catheters LOL lucky my techs are always willing to help me with that :o) you are too funny. "hard to find my target" LOL

  • Thank you! You help to calm my nerves and you are way better than my P&P text. If I am falling asleep from that, I watch a few of your videos and I am ready to go back to the books. Please keep these coming.

  • Luck beats good.

  • just loved last sentence "NURSING IS AWESOME"

  • You are too cute......personality-wise and light on the eyes. Anyway, I'm in 3rd semester and haven't had the opportunity yet. I don't think women like it when guys are staring in, around, and all over their vag. for extended periods of time. Oh well, I'm still only a student. Maybe it'll change when RN.........

  • @rebushnell Thanks for the compliment. Maybe not, but you don't have to stare at it either. =) It's all part of the job and you will learn to just go in there and do it.

  • @hdryver this is why ill never be a nurse....i dont think ill EVER be able to "just go in there an do it" lol

  • @ihaveaverybadcold Why not? You can do anything you want to. =)

  • total hottie !! you are yummy

  • Oh man... I love LOVE putting in Foleys. Skinny, obese, swollen va-jay jays, scarey men who don't want anything going up their we-we....so much fun. Stop being scared and get out there and do it you guys! You'll feel great once you get it.

  • @rss22 Hi!! You love it? You are funny, I've never heard that before.=)

  • @rss22 I love doing caths too! My first one was one a confused Alzheimer's patient! It took longer to get her in bed than it did to insert the cath! But I love it!

  • Guess I wasnt the only one, lol. Thanks for making a video on it. Catheter vs a patients multiple bathroom visits, I like the way you think.

  • @MzMedi925 That's the bright side. I love catheters=)

  • @MzMedi925 Being incontinent or having to go to the bathroom a lot is NOT a reason to cath someone. You and/or your aid are to help that patient to the bathroom or get a bedside commode. If you haven't taken your NCLEX yet, you need to know this as it's a common question on there and the sucker answer is to cath for incontinence or having to use the BR a lot. Learn the correct reasons for cathing, either straight or Foley.

  • @SWJDrew Though it's not reason enough I can see the benefit for cathing a incontinent patient, I'm guessing you've not dealt with nasty skin breakdowns in a long-term care facility. Facilities are so short staffed and most STNA's work load leave to many pt.'s in wet attends, putting a cath in place can dramatically decrease the potential for skin breakdown which is something I'm sure we've all been schooled on.

  • it's very hard to do on obese women! VERY hard!!!

  • @Brndn684 Tell me about it. =)

  • I cant wait till I get to do one! But Im hoping not to get a guy anytime soon, just the thought of it gives me the creeps, not because it grosses me out, just that I think it would be easier on a female IDK, Im just guessing

  • @2thcr8z Hi.They can both be challenging sometimes. I notice men tend to be more uncomfortable with the procedure. Prob cause it has a longer way to travel,=)

  • Hi Heather

Loved the video ( explaining about CHF and how the catherter can help with the I&O's)

Im in my 3rd semester and still feel so lost sometimes when it comes to labs.

Can you please do a video about what helped you to better understand labs and how to relate them to the pt's. I know they are VERY important and they tell us what is going on the inside of the pt.

    Dawn

  • @19PurposebyDesgn81 Hi. Dawn.=) Absolutely. That is a good topic.

  • @19PurposebyDesgn81 oh good one! Im on my first semester and Im supossed to be looking these up, well I do look them up, I just dont know what they mean=b
