  • SandPiper,ヴィンセント・ミネリ"いそしぎ”~バーブラ・ストライサンド&ジョニー・マティスの究極歌唱のひとつ~極上のポピュラー・ボッサの仕上がり #jazzm #eiga

  • I love this song very much...hopefully someday someone will sing this song for me :)

  • When movies were pictures and celebs were bonafide movie stars!

  • For some reason this afternoon this song came to mind and I couldn't rest until I found it on here and this version is lovely, Mathis and Streisand, heavenly. My favourite beat too, the Rumba, not that I can dance it well but great to sway and listen to.

  • Taylor, Burton, Mathis and Streisand!!!!! I love It

  • Great job... when was this recorded???

  • @Jkaneshige The Movie (The Sandpiper)? Streisand's version of the theme song, or Mathis' version of it?? The Movie (The Sandpiper) was, I believe without actually looking, was filmed in 1966.

  • Great actress. But terrible that they broke their marriages, it was a scandal. Because of this, they didn´t receive the blessing of God. She got married 8 times (not happy) .They had a fata story, no a good sample of love, so sorry.

  • Johnny Mathis and Barbra Streisand...together??? Heaven!

  • BRAVO this song is so beautiful. The combination of Richard, Elizabeth the Big Sur and this haunting melody is priceless. May Elizabeth & Richard be resting in the arms of the angels together forever.

  • @JERIPRIDE9 Haa!

  • Perfect Duet.... <3

  • Taylor and Burton both gone ... they could not survive without one another nor could they survive with. Their love was so intense it spans the ages. I hope they're together romping in the hayloft of Franco Zeffirelli's Taming of the Shrew. In that scene you could see how in love they were. It simply jumped off the screen and grabbed you.

  • Beautifully done, Albert. Lovely tribute to Ms. Taylor.

  • Beautiful:)

  • magic..........

  • Voice by the angel sky ... PERFECT !!!

  • RIP Elizabeth Taylor you were AWESOME, Beautiful & Talented. You will be greatly missed.

  • Very sad day today. The news says Elizabeth Taylor has died.

    A great actress and legend.

  • @albertdiner

I am sure she is happy that you made such a beautiful video for people to look at and remember her and Richard by.

See all all of those view counts Albie? Those are all your gifts to her. Hugs to you friend.

You have also passed on timeless moments to people.

  • @albertdiner , you are right, they were the most beautiful, charming and loving couple of Hollywood, despite their fights and difficulties. A great loss for movie fans, thank you for your beautiful posting.

  • thank you albertdiner for showing this beuatiful combination to us.

  • simpemente ele é melho cantor romanteco da geração eu adoro demais

  • barbra streisand uuuuuuu.....

  • excellent video.....great editing & pictures....love this, thanks so much for making it!!!

  • 素晴らしい曲と美しい映像をありがとう!

  • haha im singing this in chior ^^

  • Barbra sang beautifully and Elizabeth was incredibly gorgeous, mature and fabulous woman in the movie. They both overshadowed both Burton and Mathis in the video. Two Goddesses !!!

  • cátia bensoussan

  • Is there any way to download this combined song from Johnny and Barbra? I can find ones from each of them but to one that's been put together like what you've done.

  • @srresl1 If you want this one, you can go to one of the only legitimate websites that allows you to download youtube vids for free. "keepvid (dot) com" It will give you download options for .flv, .mp4 and a few others. If your media player won't allow those extensions, you can always download and extension converter for free. Hope this helps. I just downloaded this song as a matter of fact a few days ago, I wanted to be sure I had a saved copy of this very beautiful version of the Sandpiper

  • @srresl1 Sandpiper love theme (sorry about that)

  • wow two good looking film stars there liz taylor ,richard burton.. rip richard.

  • AWESOME.... Two wonderful singers, this is the nearest one can get to perfection. Thank you for posting this outstanding video.

  • Not a Streisand fan, or of anyone else who sings through their nose, but I love Johnny Mathis in this piece.

  • Thank you!!!

Can you write the words of this song? Whith Johnny Mathis's?

  • The are both my favorites together or singing on their own ... LEGENDS!!!

  • Magnífico!!

  • I just love this song

  • Love that fantastic Film......Great music....Wonderfull

  • WHAT A COMBO BABS AND LIZ

  • They were both at their very best. How could one not love them.

  • Excellent!!!!! Thank you!!!!

  • Superb editing! NPR did a piece on Johnny Mandel this morning and I got all nostalgic for his music and this song in particular -- thank you for putting this beautiful video together.

  • Two of my favorite singers. So much emotion beautiful song, Where did all these beautiful melodies go. I'm glad I 've been around for this sound.Would love to see these two artists in person.I should be so lucky

  • Comment removed

  • You can make a case that these two are the greatest singers of all time.

  • So sexy!!!!

  • Oh ok...It's Barbra Streisand then. I was just a bit skeptical at first. Anyway, thank you for the responses and assurances, guys.

  • My High school choir sang this song last year for our Spring concert, its a very pretty song

  • Barbra and Mathis, this song is an unfinished business, I can't have enough of it. Listening to it a million times does not matter to me. Thank you for putting it together; million of generations will still enjoy it. It's a lifetime performance.

  • Ooh, I did love this movie so much,,,

Thank you so much for the Beautiful Memories...

  • I saw this movie at a very formative age, and it made such an impression on me! And I love Barbra. Great, great job. Thanks!

  • i'm sorry, i doubt if the lady singing here is barbra streisand. her accent is different.

  • C'mon! If that ain't Babs, I'm Kris Kristofferson.

  • I'm a big fan of her, and I can assure you , that's Barbra Streisand. The part where she sings is on the album My name is Barbra two.

  • That is definitely a very young Streisand. Absolutely. Pre 1966. Her voice changed when she had her first child - it became deeper post 1966.

  • more of mr mathis - the best pop/crooner vocalist since the sixties!

  • what ever happened to real love___ i have been married for 46 years as of 11 16 09 all u have to do is find the right girl that loves you

  • @hnnjo5 or right man.

  • @hnnjo5 If only it was that easy. Its not like it was when us Baby Boomers and those before were young. Social Networking these days does not mean catching the eye of someone across the dance floor from you; or being introduced in person in a softly lit nightclub anymore. Its all done anonymously, with pseudonyms and a photo. The magic doesn't begin from seeing the person in the flesh first and then 'working on' the getting to know one and other, and observing for those signs of compatability.

  • This is a very nice peaceful song. It is very serene, i always enjoy listening to it.

    beautiful Elizabeth Taylor

    she is stunning

  • Really lovely work Long ago, A girl named Claire told me this song reminded her of me--I didn't have a clue what she meant--thanks Claire

  • Liz was never lovelier than when she starred in this movie! WONDERFUL song, 10+ stars!

  • Liz had such a deep love for Richard Burton in real life, they were such close friends, and she understood him. Even years later when he died, she said there was a void in her heart! This closeness made the movies they acted in together have a special spark, they were such amazing actors! Days of excellent acting gone by, lol!

  • Too a very lovely version besides Sinatras, Gilberto,Bensons and so on ones.....

I love too Papettis sax-accustic version VERY much but this one attracts me coz marvellous Taylor plays here together with husband Burto in this great movie....

Its lovetheme of this song and these different clips of it with this theme -musix is a very good combination...*****

  • Arguably the two best ever!

  • hmmm priceless music make you feel the love of beauiful thing such grace

  • this is beautiful

  • la puedo escuchar, mil veces y me fascina, tiene un encanto muy particular

  • A Lovely duet. Barbra sounded her best and of course Johnnie sounding elequent, but alas they never sang this song together. Been very well placed to gether sung years apart from each other.

  • "A tear drop kissed your lips and so did I"~Wonderful!

  • Great film too. Taylor brilliant as a bolshy boho rearing her gifted child outside the regimentation of the school system.

  • Every time I hear this song it reminds me of my youth. I was in high school when this movie came out. I saw this movie and I didn't care for it so much but I loved the music !

  • ¡Qué versión tan extraordinaria de una canción tan íntima y 'touching'! Estupenda combinación video-+música. Gracias

  • "IMHO, the very best, most original version i've ever heard hands down of the shadow of your smile is by Jonny Fair & The Xtrordinaires. It's still up here last i checked, give it a listen & you'll see what i mean. Very smooth & warm. Made me want to pour a martini & sit on the couch with appetisers & that special someone... *smile*

  • hey, move over and gimme some of them appetizers! :))

  • this is truly a magnificent piece of music and the movie i just saw it it made me cry richard and liz taylor amazing!

  • But I miss the Version with Astrud Gilberto from The Shadow of your smile - THE BEST EVER... but I can't find it here.

  • Isto se chama Bossa Nova!!! This is called Bossa Nova, a brazilian style of music. My sugestion: Mr. Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais. Enjoy! Aproveitem, porque vale a pena.

  • WOW!

An Academy award AND a Grammy.

    Not too shabby.

  • What Barbra album is this from please?

  • It's from My Name is Barbra, Two. It's a great album, or I guess we should say CD these days!

  • Thankyou for that...

  • have a listen to fred oneil singing this . i discovered him and its another good version

  • Barbra and Johnny are two of the best singers in the whole wide world. This song is one of my favorites.

  • What can one say about two of the finest singers in the music world. They bring joy with their music.

  • AMEN!

  • Barbara Jhonny Liz and Dick who could ask for anything more awsome music mix great slideshow

  • cant anyone plzzzzzz post the entire film i desperatly need to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!=)

  • this song makes life and it's pleasures worth waiting for. 2 fabulous singers, actors, lyrics. There are some songs everyone should hear, and this is one of them.

  • i heard it today in the consert! It was great! LIVE music!!!

  • Looking to my eyes my love and see all the lovely thinks you are to me...♥ღ♥ I love you..and thank you...

  • I forgot to mention one of the all time greats!!! JOHNY MATHIS!!!!!

  • Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathis

are both great, and their voices blend

perfectly. Johnny Mathis wanted to be

like Nat King Cole, his idol, yet his

    singing style is completely original.

Barbra admired Judy Garland, yet she

also has a completely original style of

    phrasing her lyrics.

    Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

were a sensation in the film THE SANDPIPER.

  • Not only Barbra admired Judy Garland , but she sang with her, and it was a wonderful duet!!! Watching this extraordinary young talented girl who was never in awe of the great Judy is always a treat , they were both wonderful talents, and they will always be in our hearts

  • @albertdiner

Funny that you mention Mathis wanting to be like Nat Cole. In 1965, as a student at Morgan State University I was a member of the college choir. I remember our choir director, Mr. Eubanks, an operatic baritone who attended San Francisco State, commenting that, while a student there, he and others would go to a club to hear Johnny imitating Nat Cole! Go figure. Sometimes none of us is comfortable in his own shoes.

  • @kweju3 Excuse me, but it seems you need to be made aware that any good musician or singer will make use of imitating the pros/veterans as a means to learn and implement stylistic elements that they can later adapt to their own persona. Johnny's style is plenty "original," trust me.

  • @peterdewitt Ahem, not sure what planet your mind is orbiting, but the comment was meant as an insight..."even the best of us has a time of insecurity". As for what "I need to be made aware of"...that there are those who delusionally read into statements what their own muddled conscience creates. Duh, who said Mr. Mathis wasn't original?

  • The most beautiful woman in the world ( Liz Taylor) and the greatest singer and vocalist of all time (BARBRA STREISAND)!!!!!

  • estraordinario ver a richard y elizabhet taylor que tiempos, con dos voces super buenas. gracias

  • Those were the days, eh? Liz and Dick... Lots of poetic romance. The innicence was fading even then, if you saw the picture. Burton played a traditional type. a married preacher and Liz was a free spirit, an artist. They broke social rules by falling in love. The thing we like about it is it's more dignified position in our progress - more balanced than today's world. Hopefully the pendulum will swing in the other direction and we can enjoy another period like this on our culture's journey back

  • richard burton and elizabeth taylor, the perfect couple.

  • BS is one of the few who can sing stronger than JM.

Listening to the two of them is like watching Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in their prime.

This genre of music is passe but at least we have the cRAPPERS.Isn't that sickening? The blacks have been scammed and don't even know it.

  • As a black dude I can honestly say I agree. How we could have ever traded this for rap is confusing to say the very least.

  • What an excellent comment!!!! And hitting back to back. RUTH and GEHRIG!! The greatest # 3 and #4 hitters of all time!!!!!

  • A musical era that is fading fast. I can remember when singing like this was common, not so much any more. Such beauty!

  • I could not agree more. The Jet setters of the 60's. Wow I did not know Barbra Streisand sung this song too! If you ask katie Curic she'll tell you she likes Tony Bennets version better but I like both!

Liza Minelli's father directed it. I think Elizabeth was very sultry in her role as a single artist mom. Loved The whole Big Sur Backdrop too.

  • SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO

  • love it!!!! thank you for this great version.

Can I get a CD version of this anywhere? I like this particular version very much.

  • This song echos back to a time when "Liz and Dick" were THE couple.

In their day they were bigger and had more press on them then Brad and Angelina, Britney and K fed and Whitney and Bobby put together.

    Two glamorous jet setters .

They would fly to paris for dinner like we go to Mcdonalds down the street. he would buy hera 20 carat diamond like some guys buy their wives a bouquet of flowers and it would make headlines.

Such a different time back then

  • The girl should be happy to just open Babs door. What else is the girl good for?

  • Talk about heaven! Johnny Mathis with Barbra Streisand. Fantastic. Thank you for this.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MUITO LINDO!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for telling me the accurate title of the album.

I hardly wait to listen to the song!

  • Mr,albertdiner,I'm moved by your kindness!

Thank you very much for telling me the album's title!

I'm obtaining one and listening to it as soon as possible!

  • Pardon, the song is included in the johnny

Mathis CD Gold: A 50th Anniversary Celebration

Johnny Mathis. The other one I mentioned is

a greatest hits album. Both are great CDs.

  • I like this song, particularly the part of Johnny Mathis, very much.

Please tell me how I listen to the original song.

On Which album is the part of Johnny Mathis in this song contained?

  • I used the most recent version recorded by

Johnny Mathis with saxophonist Dave Koz.

It was included in the CD THE ESSENTIAL JOHNNY

MATHIS. and it was also released as a Dave Koz

    cd.

  • Isn't that the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim in the background? I definitely recognize it. He is one of my favorites...

    thanks...Lori

  • It is not Antonio Carlos Jobim. It is a theme

from the 1965 movie THE SANDPIPER , but recorded in the bossanova beat.

  • Wow, Barbara is so clear with such variety in tone. What a virtuoso. Simply magnificent.

  • Thank you for your comments. Here we have 23 yr old Barbra Streisand singing with a mature Johnny Mathis. This is the second version of the

song that Johnny recently recorded with Dave Koz. Barbra´s voice has changed a little over the years, it is now a little hoarse. Johnny

still great in a lower tone but he is so

perfect in the phrasing of the lyrics. For me

it´s a joy to get them to sing together.

  • The ability to post beautiful images with beautiful music in video is a gift to all of us who use Youtube mostly for music.

  • Esse lugar é para postar vídeos, e não audio !!! This place is for video posting and not AUDIO !!!

  • Liz not only was a beautiful lady... she still is! The beauty of Liz Taylor, from the very beginning was from the inside to the outside.. hence.. one of the most beautiful women ever... the Lady Elizabeth !

  • brazilian beat...cool.. very nice

  • this is very nice i love barbra streisand and jonny mathis songs.liz was a beautiful lady

  • Lis was the best lookin dame ever. I only wish she would have stayed 39 forever. Or that Burton would have saved his bottles for deposit!

  • What a beautiful movie, song and woman!

  • Johnny Mathis is tops!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • flawless!!babs can do no wrong!BUT, you have to hear marvin gaye sing this. it is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • I HAVE IT! Absolutely stunning and genius rendition of this song. He takes it from heavenly to heaven-made. Makes me sad when I try to listen to current pop or R&B male singers.

  • great rendition!

  • Nostalgic, and how! Two great singers re an old favorite song/movie. Thanks, indeed for sharing!

  • gavinjames, yes I can hear it's two separate versions, I was just commenting to the use of the word sliced as opposed to spliced by the other poster. I've never heard of a sliced version. I have the Dave Koz CD with Johnny Mathis singing the song and Dave on sax in the background. That movie created a stir when it was released in the 1960's, it was ahead of it's time. The song did well on the radio as I remember.

  • good job!!!

  • Never over rated.

The two greatest voices of pop in the last century as picked by all pop singers and musicians from that century, and they would know.

One of the very, very best music compilations made by a Youtuber!

    Thanks*******

  • thank you for your praise.

  • I listen to it over and over.

    Hug and Thanks : )

  • Beautiful ;-)

  • Her talent is her beauty, No other performer

has her phrasing ability, an intelligence

that surfaces, and a voice that is a heavenly

    gift.

  • maybe you and your stupid criticisms should go elsewhere

  • I like it here fine, and feel it is my duty to enlighten you people.

  • A lovely piece indeed! Thank you SO much for posting.

  • wow i heard a version of this before but not a duet i really lllloooooooovvvvvvvveeee this version

  • This song was very popular after the movie was released, it stayed on the charts for a long time. Many people recorded it, this version by Barbra and Johnny is great.

  • It is not a version, it is sliced together.

  • Monrocsol, it's not a version it is sliced together?? Never heard of the term sliced when talking about how music is recorded, very interesting. Thanks anyway but I'll stick to a version myself.

  • the version in this youtube video is two separate versions of The Shadow of Your Smile spliced together. One version is by Barbra Streisand, recorded back in the 60's, and the second is a much more recent version from Johnny Mathis with Dave Koz.

  • That is correct. It would be great if they

recorded this song in the studio as a duet.

  • Two living legend for a legendary song! Mathis the magic and barbra the great! Fantastic and thanks to johnny mandel the great composer of this timeless love song?

  • Mathis is very good, Barbra is the best, the son is beautiful plus the bossanova beat is a wonderful combination!!!!!!this music is good for ever and for all ages.........
