  • ohh god, watching that knife and how your holding it brings back memories when i was younger and i was making a piggy bank and the knife slipped and chipped out the top of my thumb

  • Step 1 Buy yourself a terrifying knife.!

  • Gasify? You mean EVAPORATE?

  • bro i love the video thanks

  • How much burn time will the alcohol give you

  • hey please reply to this as soon as possible. but will using nail polish remover work? i know it souo=nds odd but its the only thing i have at the moment. and thanks for the great video! helped out alot

  • @Squashism nail polish remover is acetone.... it'd stink REALLY bad

  • Comment removed

  • good job but, why ruin your spyderco :(

  • simple. effective. expediant. true survivalism right there. best alky stove vid on you tube.

  • blame the grape soda

  • your knife needs to be sharpen

  • where did you get the music I really like it

  • Hm, can a candle be used?

  • Wow that blade is just trashed... poor knife :(

  • people people a real survivalists will he own shit if he has to

  • @TinSoIdier your right

  • @TinSoIdier A real survivalist will know how to be one with nature. There is no other way at least in the long term.

  • If he tips the can over i guess he burns the house down lololol

  • Carefull, dont cut your fingers xD

  • the alchohol gasifies...

  • now try to put in alcohol while its burning whoosh

  • I have that knife. Spiderco Byrd?

  • or just bring waterproof matches in a baggy...your call

  • how long will this last?

  • This stove will keep you warm and feed you a hot meal as you bleed to death from making it! Hahahaha Love the idea!

  • if u cut the top o f the soda can off with can opener it looks ALOT smoother like totally smooth.dont use safety can opener or it cuts outside off anyways, of course u probably wouldnt cause u have no safety ;)

  • safety is for losers

  • safety third...

  • @westcoloboy

You are so right this is an video idiot

A video by an IDIOT for IDIOTS like your self

You now nothing at all about safety or survival as pre your comment

So you should stay your dumb ass out of the woods and at home where your self and the rest of will be safer

  • Dear westcoloboy. Why are you so insulting?

Obviously what you call wilderness is a rubbish tip for me. When I go to wilderness I do not find cans, nor do I bring alcohol with me. Neither a six pack. When I need it I find water to drink, twigs to make a fire (I do bring matches), find things to eat, no problem. Each to his own I guess.

  • Note to self: Read the tile "Making A Survival Stove". It's not suppose to be pretty idiots...hence the "Survival" reference. It does what it is meant to do all with the single tool; a field knife.

  • If any of you really want to make a stove like that there are a LOT BeTTER videos out there than this

It is how ever videos LIKE this one that get people hurt do your he work and be safe like like this clown

  • @winnipegdiver This is a survival video idiot; hence the "Survival" reference, it's not suppose to be pretty, it's a survival technique.

  • why re you using a spyderco to cut a fucking can AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • It's good to have a knife with a proper finger guard. Solid good knives seem to cost less than fancy ones, go figure.

...If you only have a sharp piece of flat steel, this is probably how careful you should be while using it. :)

  • shouldent you cut away from limbs and finger's not twards them i forget

  • DAMN IT! I was hoping you would cut one of your fingers off!

Make more videos of you cutting things with that knife please

  • You mean, when I go hiking in the wilderness I also carry a soda can and a bottle of alcohol to survive? I mean apart from essentials like a knife and box of matches? (I manage without those too, if necessary).

Utterly stupid vid which teaches you nothing apart from bringing your townie rubbish to the countryside. Shame on you!

  • @faramita9 Ummmm when was the last time you went into the wilderness and found no aluminum can idiot. Walk 10 foot or so and you will be kicking them all day or better yet - take a 6 pack so you will always have a can to tinker with jack wagon. Shame on you? Stick one of those cans up your poop shoot moron!

  • Good enuff for ramen.

  • boom ti boom ta ta boom ti ti boom boom (stab)!!! ..... boom ti boom ta ta boom ti ti boom boom ti ta boom (stab)!!!! ..... boom ti boom ta ta boom ti ti boom boom. (funny)

  • ever heard of a drill??

  • please dont tell me that knife is a spyderco

  • i made eggs, fried ham, cake, and buttered noodles

  • for the love of god, please don't ever use a knife like that again...

  • great knife skills.

In the wild, he'll eat, but he'll die from blood loss or infection.

  • bump abadada bump badaddada! Yeah, baby....love the drums! careful with that knife though, ( I am dancing the hula hula) Put the kiddie disclaimer up, cha cha cha cha cha

  • can you use a higher proof of alcohol like 91%?

  • @MAP14100 yes but it is better to use HEET in the yellow bottle

  • @MAP14100 ya its better 70% alcohol anit to good at burning HEET or 91 % alcohol is better

  • at 00:20.. havent you ever heard of a can opener? xD

  • imagine if that thing tipped over when he put that pot on top :P bye bye home

  • If you were in a survival situation and actually had rubbing alcohol or another fuel source and matches, wouldnt it be a better idea to save the alcohol by just making a wood fire ?

  • @callowaymotorcompany this is for people who didn't pay their utility bills!

  • what kind of alcohol

  • I think people are missing the point--survival stove... When the situation arises, you might not have the tools to do it "safe" and properly; simply using what is around you to make a crude cooking apparatus out of commonly found items. When I need to eat and need a means to cook--I care less about cutting my fingers. Note the title doesn't state camping stove...

  • if you slip, that endura is going straight through your hand.

  • Thats probably great for your knife!!

  • obsesed with stoves

  • What is the soda can standing on in the beginning ?

  • the only bad thing about the stove is once u've completed the can u won't have any fingers left to light it

  • lol Zimbwe music

  • You could even cook the bits of your hands and fingers you end up missing in the creation of this device!

But seriously, this is a handy instructional video, however unsafe and unkind to your knife. Not sure it's possible to find al bottle of rubbing alcohol somewhere though.

  • 30 secs watch ur bloody hands mate

  • I can imagine finding an empty soda or beer can in a survival situation out in the woods but I'm not sure you'd be finding any bottles of rubbing alcohol out there.

  • nice spiderco knife!

  • Safety WWhat think cutting glove

  • this guy is an accident waiting to happen. Hey man, if your gonna post an instructional video at least do it safely. I don't care if you cut yourself. But you need to think about the kid that watches this and ends up cutting the shit outta themselves. Lead by example and don't be the example of how not to lead. Its a great idea for the stove though.

  • your knife is screamin in the beginning!!!! ouch!!!!

  • 5 STARS!

It'll definetly work in a pinch!

Some say necessity is the mother of all inventions! Some say they are more :)

  • Hey are you a friend of rambo or something like that? :P

  • OMG's did he just use his knife to open that can! Dude, I sqinted and I shook my head.

  • dudes, FUCK SAFETY. just pay attention to what your doing and don't be retarded.

also his thumb was a leverage point, how else was he gonna do that

  • this guy is actually showing people how to cut your fingers off at great risks. Good job buddy, keep it up, next video, could you teach us how to cut a foot off please? I guess that will require a chainsaw and i considerable amount of retardness.

  • gasifies hahaha

  • if you use the old type of can opener you can cut out the top perfect and real easy.

  • LOL salvage jungle music!!

  • ill cook beans!!! XD

  • Very cool, O and you had control over your knife. Good job well shot. Take a look at my ultra lite stove 12gr

  • someone needs to learn knife safety techniques

  • how do you turn it off when your done?

  • Thank you hafiezismail for posting my video... I've enjoyed reading the comments. Survival situations are not only in the wilderness, so this would most likely be an urban scenario following a natural disaster. I'd be pleased to have you visit my website featuring other survival techniques. :-)

  • Nicely done! Thanks!

  • the whole point for those of you who can't read is survival so no can opener or penny stove i thought this was great it showes you one way you can doing if you had to with just a pop can and a knife

  • Yes you may have a knife on you and you may be able to find a can but its kind of hard to find rubbing alcohol in the woods,

  • Thx dude... if u guys wanna see the one i made then see my new video

All creditz go to this guy...

  • The music is so upbeat and encouraging! While he breaks all safety laws known to man!

  • @lancealator you make it sound as though such laws are worth caring about. ;)

  • @lancealator lol reminds me of the primitive pete videos they show you in shop class all it needed was the flash of a dimimbered finger XD nice vid though man

  • @lancealator hes making it the way you would if you were in the wilderness without a fucking ruler you pussys!hes making it the way you would if you were in the wilderness without a fucking ruler you pussys!

  • @smthb123 LOL the wilderness doesn't supply aluminum cans and alcohol.

Just collect some dry twigs and leaves, and rub a couple of sticks together.Better yet use a small magnifying glass(easier to carry than a can and bottle of alcohol) to get your fire started.

Nature provides everything you need and it doesn't come in a can or bottle.

  • to not dull your blade use a can opener

  • i was gonna say exactly that

  • i bet that spydie was dull as hell after that lol

  • i<3Spyderco's :P

  • this guy hates safety

  • This guy will stab safety in the face

  • I lol'd

  • @GamersHive1 Thats true lol but a good video on making one in a hurry

  • @DownRange1776 i done that, the ring at the top comes out so its not rigid enough

  • @GamersHive1 fuck safety u bunch of fucking pussies! do me a favor and go drink 3 litters of bleach and then tell me about safety......

  • does it need to be aluminum can or can it be, example, a tomato can?

  • lifeflower1111 it can be an aluminum can or soup/fruit ect can I like using a *small* soup can ,and it works slightly better. I burned some cardboard in a soda can and after awhile it shriveled and broke so a soda can may not be the best choice. soup cans are able to be used more then one time and are thicker. so far the soup can hasn't broke and spilled my coffee, unlike the soda can.

  • Comment removed

  • If you ever throw an aluminum can in the fire, it will melt...unless you are boiling about a mouthful of water and do it only once...i dont see the point in it.

  • and then the toxic gas out of paint kills u

  • where would u get the soda can if ur stranded? Otherwise, its great.

  • u mite be walkin and get lost wif all ur stuff

  • Once, i was stranded, and this helped save my life.

okay not really but im sure if i did get stranded it would help

  • lol

  • This was awesome! Thanks!

  • Eww grape soda! lol... Anyway Great video

  • NICE VIDEO!

  • i jsut made one and it is awesome! thank you for showing us

  • man the stove cool, but cut away from your fingers and hand, you're lucky you haven't ended up cut and seriously injured, if you're gonna teach pople how to survive give them a chance...

  • that .... is .... AWESOME but im a girl ..and people will laugh

  • Great Info ! = New subscriber. Going to make this tomorrow..

  • that grape soda looks appetizing yum

  • neat little trick

  • or an easier stove just a fire O_O rocket science -.-

  • which spyderco is that?

  • its the Endura 3 i believe

  • After this video recording... A very dull one. lol

  • i cant get it to work

  • build a new one and try it again!

  • how long will this 1/4 of alcohol burn?

  • a long time

  • great !

  • does the alcohol concentration matter? would 91% Isopropyl work too?

  • i hear it would work better, the purer the alcohol the longer and better it burns, because the rest is just water. if alcohol is 70% = 30% water, likewise if alcohol is 91% = 9% water.

  • Dude, im glad you didnt rip yourself.

  • yeah, that made me nervous.

  • gasifies isn't a word

  • Yes it is. "rulz", on the other hand, is not.

  • rulz is just from my user name. Many people do not use correct grammar or real words in their user name. And you are correct gasifies is a word. Congratulations you just proved a 16 year old wrong.

  • can u use this after first time. and also what all can u cook on it can u cook meat. Nice Video

  • these alcohol stoves can be used and reused also the temps will get to waters boiling point so you can cook just about anything.

  • that knife blade... ugh...

  • It's not dull or scratched, it's seraded. Meant to be that way for easy cuttin purposes.

  • i know right. i would never do that to my knives especially a 80$ spyderco

  • want to know what I think? As I don't have a problem with stoners, I do have a problem, (a big One!), with meth makers and users.

How about a huge groundswell of public opinion sweeps the planet, and a bounty gets put on these losers?

We can hunt the scum down, and be paid for it.

    Brilliant!

  • Good vid. In a survival situation you might be able to find the can, but not the alcohol. If you have to use bark, twigs, grasses etc do you know if the boil time would still be about 3 min?

  • Rule number one - don't slip! Blood stinks when it burns!

  • is that a spyderco knife?

  • BRAVO! that's cool!

  • fantastic idea, well done!

    Now here's the but part.

Who is going to have some iso on hand in an emergency situation, or where it's use is limited or regulated?

What can be used in place of?

  • who regulates iso lol

  • Here in New Zealand isopropyl alcohol is used by stoners and drug dealers for making marijuana oil, called 'hinu' here. (Hinu is Maori for 'oil', roughly translated). Because of that, we can't exactly go down to the corner store and buy up a whole swag of it.

    Pity.

  • Oh, that stinks.

  • any rubbing alcohol or hard liquior will do

  • that sucks. but there are all differnt types of making hash. i cant belive they went that far as to regulate rubbing alchol. why not regulate marijuana

  • Where do they regular rubbing alcohol? Not in the US? I can buy it at any grocery or pharmacy...

  • i dont understand your comment

but you need de natured alchol

the best thing is HEET its for cars

  • haha we can't buy cold medicine in the us becuase of meth maufactures. we wish hash makers were our worst problem

  • aim that knife away from the soft part of your hand, lmao.

  • thats cool!!!!!

  • that's kinda cool.

    really annoying music though...

  • must try this

    it is pretty dangerous tho

    ..here in my appartment, hehe

  • on a stove or in the bath tub on a metal pan and hot-pad, might be safe place to do it.

  • can pure alcohol be used ?

Ps: thx 4 posting this vid

  • if you dont have any alcahol, try soaking strips of cloth (shirt, pants, etc) in vegetable oil, takes a second to light but burns hotter and doesent go out easy. - will

  • ok so if you have all that in the woods why don't you just make a nice warm, big fire??

  • That might be difficult if you are not in a wooded area

...or under certain conditions such as heavy rain even if you are. Sometimes all that may be required is enough to provide warm drink or food. Lighting a big fire in a dense area of dry wood, in a warm climate, may also not be the best choice.

  • oooo and DONT TOUCH THE CAN >.>

  • Magnificent!

  • nice

  • I'll use any excuse NOT to use my MSR liquid fuel stoves. I passionately hate them.

    Thanks for the video.

  • owesome

  • The way he's cutting that can its lucky that he didn't cut himself. you get a kid to try it out i bet he'll lose a few pounds of blood

  • pretty cool

  • Dude i have never seen this way. I am going to try it out!!!

  • I was just waiting for him to cut himself lol

  • This music made me feel like i was watching some lions mating in the jungle or something on the nature channel. =P

  • PS: Looks nicer with can opener

  • this is for surviving, i dont think u care how it looks when ur out in the woods maybe lost
