  • This is a Gene Parsons song : to be found on the Kindling Collection and on 'Hope they let us in' live CD.

Skip Battin never put this song on one of his solo albums (4)

  • I had Skip Battin's solo vinyl years ago (I lost it..), with a very nice version of this song. Anyone would like to put it on line please ?

Big thank you & kisses from Paris

  • What is the chance that 2 "Parsons" would be in the Byrds at the same time.My favourite of favourites since 1969 has been Gram Parsons of the thousands of country-bluegrass artists that I love!

  • I bought the LP in 1969 & lost it soon later.Watching the film again I see,you are right! This song wasn't in it.

  • @RasMajnouni Completely agree..thanks muchly for commenting the vid.

  • Anyone notice Peter Fonda's bike doesn't have a front brake?

If he has to stop quickly, then he's in deep shit.

(I used to sing this song to my daughters all the time while tucking them in for the night...)

  • @Ramadancer" Mister Rock 'n' Roll couldn't stay

The crowd was mad and we were had

Chasing the sun back to L.A".. Weariness of the road ran through a lot of the Byrds music.

  • @Bandboxxer Hey, many thanks, shoulda known... such simple wording. Now if I will just pick up the guitar and sing this again I at last will get the 'lines right".

  • Not a mainstream song of the time, but I loved it from the beginning and still do.

Used to fingerpick and sing it but it sure was a long time ago.

Never did make out the words following "It rained in N Y city--------- @ 0:38-39

Any help out there? It would be nice to know some 40 years later!

    Thanks in advance Ramadancer

  • Yeah, I had "Fill Your Head with Rock" and loved this song. Forty years later I,m looking for it on YT and couldn't remember what is was called. I remembered the opening and typed DC8 into a lyric website and up it came. Thanks gdosic. A beautiful song.

  • Darn, I still need to see this!!!

  • Rest in Peace, Dennis Hopper...who strangely enough looked a lot like Gene Parsons in this movie.

  • After 40 years of listening, buying and loving music, the Byrds still touch me the most. And, although I love Dave Crosby, Notorious, Younger than Yesterday the most, I think Ginga Din is their very best song.

  • "Have breakfest with me mamma

I hope they'll let us in

    Got a leather jacket on

    I know that it's a sin

    Gunga Din"

    Great!!

  • Is this song cool or what!!! First heard it years ago on an old LP of my uncle's who used to babysit us and play it over &over. LP was called Fill Your Head With Rock. Some great songs from late 60's on it Thank God for Youtube........

  • Yeah, Fill Your Head with Rock !

There was also The Flock, Laura Nyro, Trees and many other great songs. I was 16 then, and remember it.
