Final Fantasy 13 was not an amazing game. It had a great story and I will definitely be getting this one, the thing that ruined the whole game was the fact that every side quest is done in one big field at the end of the game. I have always liked the ability to travel around and see everything that they put in to their artwork and the lack of extra content outside the story was sadly disappointing. I hope this is fixed in this new game or I will think twice about the next one.
i think final fantasy 13 is amazing, and i have followed the ff series from the start all the way, with the exception of the mmo. (filthy lol). i think this looks awesome but i dont like the look of her armour though.. she looks too much like a judge from ff12 for my liking.

Final Fantasy 13 was terrible end of story. Alot of people are saying its just different because its new? thats not the case you morons, they changed up the gaming entirly. Taking the players ability to explore on their owns, and giving the touch of expressing ones self, through their weapons, thats why everyone was dissatisfied with the final fantasy 13, i honestly believe they have a right to be. The game is also too structured and gives no detailed expression for the player.
The graphics look awesome. I just hope when playing I won't have to stay on a stupid path! I absolutely hated that about FFXIII. The best part about RPG's is the exploring, although the 1st time on Mi'haan(sp?) road in FFX took forever! I hope they redid the combat system, because if you're a type A person like me I spent forever setting it up and then they went and changed characters. I still want it tho. :)
I feel like the armor lightning is wearing is just not her. Plus why do all the characters in Final Fantasy have to become sluttier versions of themselves in the sequel? ie Yuna, and now Lighting. Also, When is Lighting getting a love interest?! This new guy seems like a serah botherer.
I still cant believe the black guy has a fro AND his summon is a car with large rims. In response to what ive read: I loved FF XII's battle system, it gave the ff game a new style. Also I couldnt get into FFXIII. And from what im reading, I think FF is pretty much over at this point. Im gonna try XIII-2 and XIV hoping that FF is still my #1, favorite game ever.

Umm I hate to sound ignorant, but my first Final Fantasy game was FFXIII, and i thought it was alright... Anyone mind explaining to me how the others were better, and which one i should play next?
oh and btw, in my opinion, ff7 was the best one, and i played from ff 1-13, every ff was good in except 12, maybe it's because i just really hated vaan and penelo, the idiot duo main character which prove to be useless in the story

For some reason I don't enjoy FF as much as I did. FF X and maybe even FF XII are one of my favorite games, the most remarkable things imho are: the story, character development, cutscenes, music, visuals and the battle system. I think that they made the story in XIII way too complicated, actually no wonder, it's hard to think of a totally new story and characters in each new game. I still would like a remake of VII, VIII, etc., because I haven't even played them and am not the only one I'm sure
what ever happened to final fantasy versus? I am a fan of the FF series and have played all the 3D sequels from 7 to 12 (excluding online no way in hell am I paying monthly fees). I never played 13 cuz I don't have a PS3 :(
Final Fantasy VII had one of the most intense and intricate plots of all the Final Fantasy games. The plot didn't follow the characters? Umm...so what? It followed the main character and everyone else had their own part in the story, and they were all linked via getting fucked over by Shinra/Sephiroth/Jenova. They were lovable characters. The characters in XIII were so...shallow.
XIII wasn't a bad game, but it should have been a spin off. Just as XII should have been "Tactics 3D" or some shit.
those that like the newer FF series of games *FF XI and up* chill out. you can't blame us older fans for rageing when squire has changed EVERYTHING that made the series what it is. i have given up on this series returning to it's roots. but fans of the older games will prob never stop rangeing only cause they miss what FF use to be. squire even changed it's company name and IMO they did this to show how they are moving on. and prob in 25 or so years you guys will rage at the new generation
that's enough! If you're really love FFVII or FFX or whatever, just go play it all over again and again until forever that you want! No need to bashing bad words about new final fantasy coz you know what, newer final fantasy will NEVER, EVER be like FFVII or FFX or the other FF!! New FF comes with new Fantasy stories and system. . @yukiharvestfans every one has their own preferences with video games some like first person shooters and others like my self like a great rpg in my opinion i like all final fantasy games all of them all of them are games that you can replay a countless number of times if you really are a square enix fan or a final fantasy fan you must find joy out of every game they make if you really enjoy the series. this includes final fantasy 13.

The combat was very boring and easy, I liked the strategy combat they had all the way from FF to FFX( FFXI also had a great combat system in my opinion) I am not saying this game is bad in anymeans I love all the FF games but to compare whith the 3D ones this was probably the weakest. I just hope FF Versus 13 is going to be awesome since I love KH!^^
this game was the best FF game untill now they made the battle system so fast and the best part is u have allwys full HP after the battles and u dont need to worry about AP/MP like the other FF... so it was nothing wrong whit this FF game cant wait untill the next one :D
I hate the battle system, I liked the switching in and out of characters and changing to a different character to use their attack, I think the FFX battle system was the best, even if it was simple

Have to say, didnt enjoy FFXIII's new style, seemed to take alot of control away from the player and made you just walk down a narrow corridor following a yellow arrow for the duration of the game, tapping the shoulder buttons once and awhile. Hopefully this'll be different. Versus looks like it got it right though.

I need to replay the first one :O I actually was quite the opposite of every other person. I liked the game when it was super linear, but once it branched out after cacoon, I sort of lost interest. I think it was the villian that really killed it for me. Unlike Jecht or Seymore, I didn't really understand the villian. Then, they went around and did the exact opposite of what they said they would do at the beginning. Okay, going to replay now. BYE!
Lightning goes on a quest to find/save vanille and fang after they sacrifice themselfs to save the world, and everyone think lightning is dead but serah goes out to find her, and then well i dont know from there. its just a guess
I personally love FF13, much more than I loved FF10, but is a sequel really a good idea? I hope it isn't as crappy as FF10-2 was. I couldn't stand that game; I was so disappointed.
I'm not so excited for this sequel, but I'll still buy FF13-2 and see if I like it.

@CrypticWand621 what ev dude, i did play 13 and it played more like ninja gaiden with a menu driven battle system, and a crappy one at that, there is almost no strategy in the battle system at all, i meanyou press L1 down down x then L1 up up x, there you are now an expert, the game has been dumbed down to appeal to noobs, and the side quest wernt even available until chapter 11, and they were generic ones at that, if you play past ones youll understand, remember its not all about graphics
@jiw1330164 Actually, there is startegy for certain enemies, and not for others. It depends on the right paradigms, and what you equip. It's not a crappy RPG, it's just different. @jiw1330164 Just because it's not as good/ like other FFs, doesn't mean it's bad. It's just different. Does every single FF game HAVE to have exploration? No linearity? No. It's a new style Square Enix created for FF. Honestly I hate when reviewrs talk about the linearity. IT DOESN"T MATTER! It's a good game, nontheless. A boss battle that required startegy was the final mission in the game, that guy was hard.
XIII was my very first "real" interest in the whole FF series. I remember pre-ordering it, eventually picking it up, and just letting it collect dust. After finishing other rpgs on my list, I finally played it and racked up a minimal of 3 hours of gameplay. A little over a year later, pick it up again and truly fall in love with it. The most favorite thing to me about it is the character's development in the game and how the plot is played out to me. This game is by far one of my most favorite.
@ThexMenTaLx lol if you like ff13, you should play ffx. Final Fantasy 10 is the first in the series to change so dramatically, and is kinda similar to 13 in some respects. And while i loved 13, and got so hooked to its story, ff13's story pales in comparison to ffx. FFX is actually my favourite in the series. I sear, FFX will bring you to tears nearing the end. Only FFX and lost odyssey has done that before, and not a single movie out there is as moving or as sad as these 2 games.
@ProjectDecade yeah i really felt that VII characters were lacking personality. they each had different clothing/styles, but personality and development were both absent. it was a good game but imo, IX was much better, especially character personalities. in XIII, all characters might sort of look the same, but they really blend together and all have really good personality and development.
FFVII wasn't as great as everyone made it seem and XIII wasn't as bad as everyone said so. IMO XIII had some of the strongest character roles, much better than VII. The story revolves more around the characters hence the slogan "the battle within". Not to mention all characters were connected somehow and each had a similar goal. In VII most of the characters had no connection or sense of belonging.
@Mienchise Have you even played FF7?!!! All the main characters were all connected by Shinra. Just as much as the characters in 13 were connected by the fal'Cie.
@TheDavyman the characters were connected by shinra but they werent connected to each other. in XIII, all characters were connected to each other as well as fal'cie. and yes, i played and completed VII years before playing XIII and XIII is still better imo.
@Mienchise Not seeing the difference. The FF7 cast were connected to each other because Shinra pretty much ruined their lives prior to the game, they all had a common goal and similar backgrounds.
@TheDavyman in XIII, the game was character based and thats what moved the story. vanile and sazh were connected by an event which i wont spoil; snow and hope were connected by the event which happened in chapter 1; fang was tied to vanile since before the current story; hope and light developed together; light and snow fought for the same reasons; sazh and light had the same goal since chapter 1. whereas in VII, the first 3 characters worked together but the rest just randomly came in overtime.
@Mienchise You should pick up FFIX on PSN. That had the best character development in the whole series imo. As a long time FF fan, I found FFXIII to be a big disappointment, the characters were clearly defined but overly one dimensional and simplistic. However, I do agree with you that FFVII isn't the be all and end all - it was mainly hyped because it was such a novel experience for most people.
@Mienchise final fantasy 7 was as good as everyone said and final fantasy13 was as bad as eveyone said, the plot , characters, gameplay and materia system were fantastic in ff7, the only thing that let it down were the graphics. everything ff7 had ff13 lacks.

@themoogle22 its ultimately just a matter of opinion. most people who have started after the ps1 series usually find XIII better. whereas those who have started in the earlier series usually find VII better. i started on FFI and i still find XIII much better, hell even IX was better than VII. but its just my opinion and you have yours.

If you like final fantasy and don't don't like the way this looks it must just be because your a super gay who is upset because they have a BEAUTIFUL girl named lightning as the main character instead of some pretty boy. I played it. I thought the combat was very unique and fun and i just don't understand how people who have hardly played it can hate on it. To me it's a wonderful step in final fantasy history.

The combat was very boring and easy, I liked the strategy combat they had all the way from FF to FFX( FFXI also had a great combat system in my opinion) I am not saying this game is bad in anymeans I love all the FF games but to compare whith the 3D ones this was probably the weakest. I just hope FF Versus 13 is going to be awesome since I love KH!^^

Have to say, didnt enjoy FFXIII's new style, seemed to take alot of control away from the player and made you just walk down a narrow corridor following a yellow arrow for the duration of the game, tapping the shoulder buttons once and awhile. Hopefully this'll be different. Versus looks like it got it right though.

I need to replay the first one :O I actually was quite the opposite of every other person. I liked the game when it was super linear, but once it branched out after cacoon, I sort of lost interest. I think it was the villian that really killed it for me. Unlike Jecht or Seymore, I didn't really understand the villian. Then, they went around and did the exact opposite of what they said they would do at the beginning. Okay, going to replay now. BYE!

@CrypticWand621 what ev dude, i did play 13 and it played more like ninja gaiden with a menu driven battle system, and a crappy one at that, there is almost no strategy in the battle system at all, i meanyou press L1 down down x then L1 up up x, there you are now an expert, the game has been dumbed down to appeal to noobs, and the side quest wernt even available until chapter 11, and they were generic ones at that, if you play past ones youll understand, remember its not all about graphics

XIII was my very first "real" interest in the whole FF series. I remember pre-ordering it, eventually picking it up, and just letting it collect dust. After finishing other rpgs on my list, I finally played it and racked up a minimal of 3 hours of gameplay. A little over a year later, pick it up again and truly fall in love with it. The most favorite thing to me about it is the character's development in the game and how the plot is played out to me. This game is by far one of my most favorite.

@ThexMenTaLx lol if you like ff13, you should play ffx. Final Fantasy 10 is the first in the series to change so dramatically, and is kinda similar to 13 in some respects. And while i loved 13, and got so hooked to its story, ff13's story pales in comparison to ffx. FFX is actually my favourite in the series. I sear, FFX will bring you to tears nearing the end. Only FFX and lost odyssey has done that before, and not a single movie out there is as moving or as sad as these 2 games.

@ProjectDecade yeah i really felt that VII characters were lacking personality. they each had different clothing/styles, but personality and development were both absent. it was a good game but imo, IX was much better, especially character personalities. in XIII, all characters might sort of look the same, but they really blend together and all have really good personality and development.

FFVII wasn't as great as everyone made it seem and XIII wasn't as bad as everyone said so. IMO XIII had some of the strongest character roles, much better than VII. The story revolves more around the characters hence the slogan "the battle within". Not to mention all characters were connected somehow and each had a similar goal. In VII most of the characters had no connection or sense of belonging.

@TheDavyman in XIII, the game was character based and thats what moved the story. vanile and sazh were connected by an event which i wont spoil; snow and hope were connected by the event which happened in chapter 1; fang was tied to vanile since before the current story; hope and light developed together; light and snow fought for the same reasons; sazh and light had the same goal since chapter 1. whereas in VII, the first 3 characters worked together but the rest just randomly came in overtime.

As a long time FF fan, I found FFXIII to be a big disappointment, the characters were clearly defined but overly one dimensional and simplistic. However, I do agree with you that FFVII isn't the be all and end all - it was mainly hyped because it was such a novel experience for most people.
