Haha, this reminds me of a winter drumline practice we had at 6:30 am when one of the pit members walked up to the gong and hit it as hard as he could, shouting, "Wake up call!" It really does wake one up. XD
I was watching it and I didn't think much of the mellophone, and I sleep through people jumping on me, but when you broke out the gong I honestly laughed and said "Holy Sh**t!" Classic, man.
no but i've been woken up by the trumpet. Like when they just BLAST a note out of nowhere. and it cant even really be called a note. its just a BLAST. yea.. right next to your ear. i mean so close that you hit your head on it when you suddenly wake up.
We stay in dorms for our band camp. For us the section leaders walk through the halls and play standtunes at FFFF to wake everyone up. It sucks though because it means we have to get up at 4:00 AM to wake everyone up since we start at 5:00
we just have all flutes play a high C through the whole camp on bullhorns and Im one of them so it SUCKS that I have to get up even earlier but the reactions are priceless, Sometimes we have the drumline play that is even more funny
OUr drumline is all guys and one chick but the girl didnt come in for wakeup calls so....and my cabin was a bunch of girls...and the guys were staring at us while we were sleeping before playing,. hahaha...."aww, sleeping girls are so pretty..."

lol my camp has never done that. we are so happy for that lmao. i love my camp except for: 1. it gets into the 40s 2. the hills we walk up and down every day and 3. no service bc were ontop of a mountain. lol but yeah anyway how did you get the gong into the cabin? all our pit stuff is left in a shed for the night.
Our cabin was a big one with tons of rooms. There was like a meeting hall attached to the cabin a couple doors down from our room, and it's where the pit stuff was. Everyone was packing to leave, and pit hadn't packed; it just so happened that the equation worked out... Gong down the hall + sleeping kid = Epic Win!
July 4th parades ... a drum corps I was with we had to wake up at 4am to leave to do 5 parades .... drumline JUST got new drums in late the night before ... soooooo the drumline decided to wake up the corps that morning playing the cadence in the dark in the gym ... talk about jumping thru the roof
this reminds me of a couple days ago wen we were at band camp and biggers wouldn't wake up so we got jacob to get his trumpet and he's the loudest one and he blasted right in his ears and we got it on tape on jj's cell
Hahaha! Oh man, I wish we had an actual band 'camp'. Our HS is in town, so we just go there for a certain amount of hours each day for 2 weeks. Our longest hours are 3 days in the second week that are 9 to 9. Last year was my first year, and it wasn't fun.
This year at band camp 2 we got the cops called on us by the neighbhors then we had a water balloon fight which got all in trouble in the morning. Man this year sucked.
hey alex its meeh js...man i remember band camp2 it was awesome but now that i withdrew and i'm at this school in hawaii its really boring here i wish i never stayed here...my freshmen year at desert edge was awesome and a memorable one....
Hahah. At Lions Camp Crescendo this year, I played snare drum. I remember when we had to wake up, they played an extremely loud song. Cant rememebr the name, but I hit my head on the ceiling 3 times. lol
Actually, it kinda scared me @ first! You can hear Patrick say, 'OMG you gave him a heart attack!' I was all scared and stuff. But, he was alright, and I'll never regret hitting that gong! >:D Not that I'm mean or anything...;)
