You realy want to go from london to boston in 2 mins Here is my personal recipe 3 swigs of gin 2 mouthfulls of cough medicine 4 500mg painkillers And then take with 2 cups of water the water is to make sure you Don't become and ODing bitch you sit on the plane close your eyes Bada bing bada boom baby your there
Wow, that's 43 km/sec. Over 5 times Earth orbital speed. If you were really going that fast, you'd be thrown against the roof with an accel of almost 28 Earth gravities! Not only that, but you'd be going just above solar system escape velocity if you were going this velocity at the Earth's distance from the Sun, which you are. :) But if you did the burn to this velocity at Earth, you'd be 11 km/sec too slow after escaping Earth. But hey, that's what 97 k mph looks like. Minus the plasma ball.
Hey Kent, just watched your Vertigo video. Had to leave a comment. I loved it. Awesome editing and I'm sure we agree with each other, the ending is the BEST!! Bravo! I've got 5 myself. Currently sitting in CYUL missing them.
Any chance you can record a scene like what was seen off the coast of California? Many "experts" say it was a missile. I say it was a jet who's contrail not only got wider over time, but looked wider because of the optical illusion caused by the humidity in the atmosphere, and the direct view by it being recorded by a helicopter in the air rather than a person on the ground.
So I did a quick napkin calculation. Assuming that you were flying at M=0.85 (which is not an unreasonable airspeed), then the aircraft in this video would be flying at M=2,040. Now, assuming, for the moment, that a material existed that could handle the sort of heat involved, you would be going so fast that all the passengers would be slammed (probably lethally so) against the ceiling from the centrifugal force from Earth's curvature. Assuming the plane didn't fly off into space.
@MikeGinny And it's been a long time since I took physics, but if any geeks want to calculate the downward acceleration that the aircraft's control surfaces would have to maintain in order to avoid flying off into space, it shouldn't be too hard.
man i would hate to fly a transatlantic flight simply because there's nothing to look at. i've flown coast to coast in america about 6 or 7 times and i always like trying to figure out what state we're over by looking out the window and identifying the scenery.
It's amazing to think that just over 100 years ago, the only way to complete a journey such as this was by boat. This video helped me to realize that I had underestimated the difficulty that people who crossed the Atlantic faced... Truly spectacular.
Do you guys ever get disoreiented (dont know if I spelled that right) when flying over the ocean with clear clouds, looks like they both up and down look like sky?? Very cool video to!! :)
@bobistheman02 Nope! In an airliner, navigation aids are presented in both analog insturments and in digital PFD's and MFD's. At 10,000 feet and above an airliner is flying on autopilot. Usually the autopilot is not disengaged until about 300 feet above the destination airport's runway (some airliners even land themselves) so the only things the pilots do in between are ...monitor weather and aircraft systems, talk to air traffic control, and finger punch data into the aircraft's computers.
