Malaysia Airlines use to be self handled in Sydney but unfortunately due to cost cutting they went to contract ground handling with Qantas. This made all but 4 staff redundant.

Also there were cuts to Melbourne staff.

Very sad but the is very common in the industry lately.

not so sure about that.. but if that happens, it will take some time for MAS to set foot again in Sydney again...

Yes it did happen in 2007... MAS was in the red for awhile... however after a lot of cost cutting they turned things round. Qantas now handles the ground operations at the airport, There are 4 MH reps there to oversee it all and of course office work.

once u be the MAS' cabin crew, u actually have a high-end portfolio as the cabin crew, dont ever be worry after that, because the whole airlines industry in the world are welcome u to be their employee...

thet's what is great about mas, make the world more whealthy with beauty-smiled cabin crews..;p

Singapore is a very tiny country and of course its budget for their national airline company are better than MAS. However, what makes MH a world 5 stars? MAS is great. The staff is superb!!! They always get a top rank, form the pilots, cabin crew down to their cargo boys. SADDLY their management are suck!!! They are the one that should be kick off and pay for their $7(; up!! NOT the front line people.

Hi, MAS are still flying into Sydney however QANTAS are now handling the flights on the ground. No longer are there MAS staff checking in and departing the flight.

Hopefuly all customers are still getting great service on the ground by QANTAS.

Ahhh. So you and your colleagues were affected by Idris Jala's restructuring program. I guess you were part of the unlucky 5000 to be laid off. So sorry for you. I really like MH although my fav is SQ. Have you though about joining SIA in Sydney? They have a lot of demand especially with all the A380 hype.

QF now handles MH. There are 4 MH staff at SYD APT, 1 on duty per flight. MH as 2 flts daily. Alot of work for those poor guys.

Flew subload with you guys to KL back in March and the service from the crew was great but can't believe the standards of catering now. Very unfortunate as I liked you guys betters than SQ. Hope you find a good job soon. At least there is always Menzies and maybe DNATA when EK gets that up and running.
