  • Is the sound "tock tock" from the 4th stroke? How to do that?

  • is that standard tuning?????

  • thank you very much for sharing!! the amount of latin american strums is very limited in you tube... I appreciate your interest in learning these styles and sharing them with your audience! best of wishes... I love these rhythms and no one takes the time to teach them!

  • what type of latin american music are you tryin to teach us?

  • His voice is a lot deeper than I would have thought. Damn he is good.

  • I'm gonna learn this as soon as I fix my spanish guitar :)

  • thanks a lot, it's really helpful and you explain it very clearly

  • Hi John! I absolutely love your music and lessons. I saw that you use this strumming pattern in several of your songs. I am working on Revolution, and I can do this strumming pattern pretty fast already, but I have a hard time including the hit in the pattern. When you put in a hit, does it replace one movement in the pattern, and the rest of the pattern stays exactly the same? Also in terms of the fingers used? It would help me a lot, I've also signed up for lessons on your new website btw. Thx

  • Thanks man, that was helpful.

  • I always knew ur a grt guitarist........now i know ur a grt teacher as wel.......crystal clear .......simple.....effective.....awesome:)

  • Hi John. I've downloaded almost all of your tabs and absolutely love playing your music. Thanks for this vid, it really helped me emulate your strumming pattern. I would most appreciate another tutorial video where you illustrate how you perform the percussion/beats on the guitar whilst using this strumming pattern. Thanks! Keep up the amazing playing!

  • thank you so much man. I've been practicing it for 15 minutes and I already have the

  • @jamesfaeh same thing

  • @enderofall1010 wrong. time and key are completely different.

  • @jamesfaeh

yup, I should have said time signature.

  • @johnclarkemusic yeah you are explaining a lot its common to say the wrong thing if your thinking about a lot and playing at the same time.. lol

  • @johnclarkemusic mucha lucha ? :)) key signature

  • Una chacarera!

    genial!

     greetings from Argentina!

  • Dude, you re doing a great job. I adore your videos, i could learn things by myself after watching them. I found them very useful

On the other hand i love your music (fuerte , most evolved) i even bought them on tabsheet.

    Long live!

  • Thx! This is a good tutorial. You spend long time showing relatively little... That is what learning is all about. You are giving beginners a fair chance. Its nice! :D

  • wow youre a fag...who even says something like that

  • stay in school.

  • you did an absolutely great job! i longing for more!!

  • Thanks... that was very helpful. I surely learnt a lot from this video.

  • nice... i really learned a lot

  • Enjoyed your tutorial, post some more - thanks!

  • thanks for your tutorial verygood thanks again

  • Thanks you for the lesson! Your an amzing player :) hope to see more lessons from you.

  • OK - I will admit that perhaps as this is a tutorial, terminology is important, but please look back to the first comments to this video. The issue has already been addressed. I'm just getting sick and tired of the expectations people seem to have about when people make mistakes. I probably should have made the post elsewhere, but alot of times people here make the rudest corrective comments that do nothing but prove people have no idea about the amount of 'mistakes' that occur.Even at pro level

  • John,I think you meant to say "Time Signature"

instead of "Key Signature". 3/4 And 6/8 are

    Time,not Keys.

  • Carlos, of course he meant 'Time' signature as well, but why bother with the nit-picking? What is it with poeple on YouTube and comments on small mistakes?!? Someone can play 10,000 notes perfectly and slightly miss note 4,745 and someone always has to be all 'Oooh - you made a mistake at 3:31!! You suck, go practice'. People make mistakes, no-one is perfect! People need to stop with ridiculous expectations!

Big Deal!! Everybody on YouTube is an armchair Expert!!!

  • I wasn't commenting on his playing,so I think

your response is out of line.I'm also no arm-

chair expert.I've been studying music for over

    12 years now.When you give directions,it's

very important to get the terminology right,so

    that you don't confuse people.Plain & simple.

  • From the point of view of someone learning, Carlos' point is valid. I thought the guy was gonna say something bout keys and then he goes on to talk bout time and I was like "what's gaan on?".

Especially cos this is a lesson, not just a guy randomly showing off, if he's explaining stuff, it helps to use properly terminology, and if he doesn't it helps that someone like Carlos says something about.

It doesn't mean the video isn't a good.

  • youre a douche, if you didn't know want he meant, then this song is much to advanced for you, and if you understood what he meant, then who gives a shit what he said, just be thankful that he's a hell of a teacher and he posted the video to help all you wannabe's

  • "if you didn't know want he meant, then this song is much to advanced for you"... then why is he teaching it, you idiot? Go do something creative with your life, RTBII. As I said, the guy's vid is good, but he said the wrong thing in the tutorial, letting people know they deal so they don't get confused is helpful. Why are you catching feeling's about constructive criticism statements not made about you?

  • here's another point for ya idiot, did you pay for this lesson? mmmm no did you just go on to youtube and be lucky enough that a great guitarist is showing your something new? mmmm yes!! and again i'm sure he knows that he messed it up, he even says it in the comments, as far as i'm concerned you have no place correcting him-

  • I said his vid was good. =Did you miss that you idiot???

Secondly, I didn't correct him, someone else did, and people jumped on him for correcting him, I just said the person who did did have a place letting people know that he meant something other than he said.

Then you jumped on me for that like you it had something to do with you, talking trash bout calling me a "douche". What the fuck is wrong with your life?

  • Fantastic video mate, please keep doing them! There are thousands of appreciative aspiring guitarists out there for every muppet who posts a ridiculous negative comment!

  • Thanks matthew broderick. It was a super video!!! Keep em' comming :-)

  • Go go gadget Guitar. Nice work there dude

  • Thank you :)))

  • Great video...I enjoy watching your detailled explanations...And the music is great!!!

    Saludos de Suiza...

  • this is great; the style that appears very difficult is broken down into simple parts and then played at full speed later with chord changes. I learned more in this 9 minutes than I have in 9 years.

  • Excellent John.... i have two questions. one is that do you have another tutorials as well. and second one is, Can you teach us Volare Gypsy Kings or one of there popular songs?

  • Great work. Gracias amigo

  • Hugs not drugs man. reeeeelllaaaxxx spaz.

  • i believe you are talking about time signatures, not keys

  • it' matthew broderick!!

  • Amazing John!!! Can you teach us Volare Gypsy Kings or one of there popular songs?

  • thank you!

  • its very cool that you are giving online lessons! in one of your next instructional videos is it possible that you will play a published famous song? not that yours arent amzing i just want to learn songs that require more finger work but some struming included. once again great job on the videos and songs!!!

  • you are a great musician and teacher John, thanks for the tutorials!

  • WOW VERY NICE! I LOVED IT

  • Nice John!

What kind of guitar is that?

  • This video is what got me started with my cover version of fuerte. thanks for this tutorial!!

  • Great, thanks for the lesson, very easy to follow

  • Great lessons John thank you. So inspired I bought a flamenco guitar on my last trip to spain. Ignore the idiots whose only creative contribution is abuse 88000 viewers cant be all that bad !!

  • Thanks, John. I am a guitar player just beginning my journey with Latin guitar and I found your video very helpful and encouraging. I'm sorry these other people say such mean things...it's so tacky and base. I appreciate your work! Thanks!!!

  • Just read your profile. You sound like a brainless idiot. Good thing your too stupid to be offended by what I'm saying.

  • Very sad, very sick individual, I feel sorry for you. You need therapy

  • you are an excellent teacher. Thank you so much I learn something from you. Excellent.

  • wow... is the guitar tunin standerd on that guitar??

  • you know the difference between "key signature" and " time signature", but we did not see any video for you playing the guitar or trying to teache others anything. This guy is at least giving what he knows.

  • I never said I was a teacher or trying to teach guitar, get it straight. If you're going to take the time to teach something, do it right or don't do it at all.

  • um key signatures deal with what key you are playing in. TIME signatures deal with the number of beats and what duration gets a beat.

  • ha i thought i was the only one who caught on to that

  • this is great! from the master himself! By the way, could you post other tutorials i will really want to learn the strumming pattern in "to live" that one is really cool

  • Hah crazy talent! It would be cool if you did some more of these tutorials, wanna learn from the master =)

  • That's really nice. Can you play salsa montuno. Thank you

  • ur soo baked!lol

    great tutorial though!

  • lol

  • Good God, John! I am happy to to see that even after an entire year has gone by, you still remain....how do you say..? Ah, yes- THE MOST EVOLVED!!

  • Thanks. Patience and practice. Demystified, i shall bleed my fingers to perfect.

  • you are the best teacher ever, thanks for posting,I really love this tutorial!!!

  • wicked dude !!! awesum.. thnx..!!!

  • thanks dude

  • thanks for your tutorial video, thats a big help, would really like to see more on your techniques and maybe some scales.

  • I just have something to say to the responders; this guy is giving his time and energy to teach you guys, he does not have to do this. Instead of critiquing him, give him your thanks and in some cases your admiration. It is evident that some people live to critique others, but while you are critiquing, you are adding nothing to this thread or to John. Thank you John for displaying your talent.

  • spot on laney chief.. i was about to say that too..

  • 3/4 and 6/8 aren't key signatures, they are time signatures.

    But good video anyway!

  • You are excellent. Thank you very much for this posting!

  • This exercise is nicely spaced. Excellent for the beginners. Would like to see more of your technique. Thanks.

  • Very clear, well spaced, easy to practice. Keep up the good job. Woul like to see more of your lessons. Thanks.

  • you look like matthew brodrick

  • he said C7

  • lol thanks maybe it will sound alot better when i strum in c7 rather then e7

  • It's an open chord C7 Shape which is moved up 4 frets to make E7.

  • excellent! congratulations!

  • ive been looking around the internet a lot now to learn right hand strum patterns and it hasnt gone well at all. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO. peace.

  • excellent tutorial.... thanks very much.

  • JOHN.... I JUS LOVE THE WAY YOU PLAY.>> I THINK UR NEW LESSON HAS BEEN VERY ENCOURAGING FOR BEGINNERS LIKE ME... Keep posting more lessons... Im sure a lot of us out here look forward to it... while the others just find the odds...
