Man use to listen to this when I first joined Army in 1982. Then bump into this today and see he responded to someones posting. Not surprised performs from my day were always so unselfish.
Wonderful to hear that you are well brother Kashif. You have blessed many of us with great music that we will be forever grateful for. Best wishes to your University, may God continue to bless your efforts.
I love u kashif, I remember the concert you performed at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Mo, it was you and Lelo Thomas the best performance I ever experienced. Make one more album,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Kashif is right up there with folks like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and L.A. Reid and Babyface as one of the most successful and influential R&B producers/artists of all time. Why he never got the credit he was due I will never understand. His production brilliance pretty much jump-started Whitney Houston's career and he boosted Evelyn Champagne King's popularity as well. Plus he was a great solo artist in his own right. New season of 'Unsung' on TV1 - start it with THIS truly 'unsung' artist!
Is that Victoria Rouel? (Rowell?) from the soaps? I love how he's all Nice Stalker Dude-Like, then it's like he knows her, like he's her man...then back to Polite and Sexy Stalker Dude. I love 80's stuff!
This used to be my JAM...Jheri Curl Days...I remember them so well!...Things were so much simpler. Music was so, so, good! I loved just about any and everything by Kashif. He was quite the talented musical entrepreneur. I wonder what he's up to these days.
@kashifcreative OMG... Ok, you said "YOU" weren't strung out!!! So like forreal, is this Kashif? Please don't play with me!!! I'm kinda getting star struck at the moment. Is this really you?
@kashifcreative Hi Kashif...its been awhile since i've read all the comments under the videos I've posted and it was a pleasant surprise to see your comments. You are one of the most underrated producers of to come out of the R&B scene in the 80s and if you ask me you should be up there with Jam and Lewis; and Babyface and LA. Thank so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to respond back to the posters who have inquired about you.
kashif do u remember a show you did in buffalo new york at the tralf alot of years ago? i was there and i have been in love with your music ever since. thanks for the memories and lookin out for the children, BUT what about us your fans? why dont you cut us a little cd on your free time !!! lol
OH WOW, victoria frm da yng & the restless.. amazin how u look back and notice people once they make it big. lol..they couldve let my girl come back on the soap..SMH!! love kashif and YES he deserved better recognition forrealz.. great song..
First heard the song and got interested after watching VH1's "I Love The 80s Strikes Back Edition-1984" with the image of Daryl Hannah chewing the lobster happily on screen as the song was being played
Ahh, fond memories of the spring / summer of 1984. FYI, there's a 4 minute instrumental on this Kashif album that continues this "Woman" theme. BTW, the green screen computer terminal Kashif is using is a DEC VT-100, which was state of the art then. I was an up and coming IT guy in my first job at the time. I had 21" biceps, a fast Plymouth 'Cuda, and I was gonna live forever. Cherish the day when / if R&B can ever rediscover the melodic side of its soulfulness as with this song.
@codenamelibra Brother, you have so eloquently stated exactly the same thing I was feeling (I was a newbie IT guy myself at the time). Thanks for putting it so succinctly. ^5
For all of you who are wondering where I am. I am alive and well living in Marina del Rey, Ca. I am still writing and producing music as well as directing commercials and documentaries. I thank you for all your kind remarks and statements. There is still a lot more good music inside me. I Just opened a school for youth in foster care ages 8-18 - Kashif University. If you are on Facebook look up Kashif Saleem. That's me. God Bless you all!
@Kashif1522 man you're music is the best it never gets old i can play it all day. My favorite song has got to be "Say Something Love" but i like "Send Me Your Love" also. I don't think anybody was f'kn with kashif back then dude is a beast!
@Kashif1522 Brother, your music is timeless and brings back so many memories. I still have most of your albums/CDs, and when I listen to them, I remember a time when both musical themes and artists were more sophisticated and they knew what they were singing about. For me, the music will never get old and it will never end.
I dont think that was Whitney on the back ground of this, it was Melba Moore. Melba use to back up Kashif on many of his songs, then there was Evelyn King. Whitney came much later and she only did a couple. Melba and Evelyn was his 2 main ladies, they collobrated together and wrote great songs even for Whitney. Once you hear Melba's voice you never forget it, but they were all on the same record label back then so that Arista sound was very similar.
I loved Kashif. He hasn't done anything in so long that it's easy to forget he was great. I love him. I still remember his live performance on Video Soul on BET, it was great.
i didnt know they had a video for this i always thought kashif was the shit ever since he wrote that book on the music industry which is real good
this surley lokes like the same director that did the woo woo song for jeffrey osbourne or miss me blind from culture club, i thought whitney did her first WELL KNOWN vocals on Teddy pendergrass Hold Me In Your Arms
As many times as I have seen this video over the years, today is the 1st time I've noticed that girl is Victoria Rowell from Bold & Beautiful/Diagnosis Murder lip synching Whitney's part
THIS song should have been a huge Pop and R&B hit! The song and video is superior over a lot of the stuff back then (even though R&B music back then was in a magical place).
Yeah, that is a wacky looking dance. I actually wondered what the heck he was doing also and the best I can come up with is that he's doing some kind mime dance, pulling a bouquet out of a hat, something like that. It's a stretch but that mime stuff hot 20 years ago. It's sad but I'm addicted to this video!
This brings back many memories.....I loved this when my wife and I were sweethearts....well we still are but...it's been over twenty years.... I guess she IS..."The" woman.
Wow! This ia one of my all time favorite songs! Did you know that Whitney Houston sang the female part on this recording...they were labelmates back then.
yep, she was random them..but this is victoria rowell..not sure of the last name spelling..she played drucila on the soap 'the young and restless' for years..not sure if she is there now..she was and still is fine!!

OH MY GOD. I'm 26 and I heard this song when I was a kid....I thought I imagined hearing this song, but it does exist.....now I recognize the voice :)
Kashif was the shi-zit back in tha day! The whole Hush Productions crew. They ruled NY for a minute. Nice love songs back then...none of that back that a** stuff! (sorry Juv-e) This cut was so smooth...check out other Kashif videos.
Kashif was a member of a early seventies band you may have heard of called BT Express after leaving BT Express, he went behind the scenes producing the likes of Evelyn C. king, Lillo Thomas, Howard Johnson, Melba Moore and a host of others. He Came out with his debut album in 1983 and the rest is history.
nice Synclavier work on this song too. That was the workstation/synth of the early 80's.
If I remember correctly, Kashif said the words to this song came to him in the wee, early morning hours after he had awoken. He said he couldn't find a regular piece of paper, so he got a tissue or napkin and scrawled the words down.
Oooh i forgot the team Mauro Malavasi, Jacques Fred Petrus & David Romani (of the early Change albums [with Kashif on keys] & BB&Q band & High Fashion)
Kashif released a second video from Send Me Your Love (1984). I think it was "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart" or the title cut (I'm not sure which one).
Man use to listen to this when I first joined Army in 1982. Then bump into this today and see he responded to someones posting. Not surprised performs from my day were always so unselfish.

nice Synclavier work on this song too. That was the workstation/synth of the early 80's.
If I remember correctly, Kashif said the words to this song came to him in the wee, early morning hours after he had awoken. He said he couldn't find a regular piece of paper, so he got a tissue or napkin and scrawled the words down.

Lovin' this video and song!! Greatest R&B producers of the 1980s along with Prince, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and The System!

Kashif released a second video from Send Me Your Love (1984). I think it was "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart" or the title cut (I'm not sure which one).
