  • Man use to listen to this when I first joined Army in 1982. Then bump into this today and see he responded to someones posting. Not surprised performs from my day were always so unselfish.

  • Wonderful to hear that you are well brother Kashif. You have blessed many of us with great music that we will be forever grateful for. Best wishes to your University, may God continue to bless your efforts.

  • THIS IS THE JAM I LOVE KASHIF MUSIC!

  • When are you coming out with another album? Look forward to it! I agree with dano122772...very underrated! Love your music.

  • @TheDawnpat YES INDEED R&B MISSING AN ELEMENT

  • I love u kashif, I remember the concert you performed at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Mo, it was you and Lelo Thomas the best performance I ever experienced. Make one more album,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Kashif is right up there with folks like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and L.A. Reid and Babyface as one of the most successful and influential R&B producers/artists of all time. Why he never got the credit he was due I will never understand. His production brilliance pretty much jump-started Whitney Houston's career and he boosted Evelyn Champagne King's popularity as well. Plus he was a great solo artist in his own right. New season of 'Unsung' on TV1 - start it with THIS truly 'unsung' artist!

  • Whitney Houston was singing background on this record, too. I just love this song!

  • Is that Victoria Rouel? (Rowell?) from the soaps? I love how he's all Nice Stalker Dude-Like, then it's like he knows her, like he's her man...then back to Polite and Sexy Stalker Dude. I love 80's stuff!

  • This used to be my JAM...Jheri Curl Days...I remember them so well!...Things were so much simpler. Music was so, so, good! I loved just about any and everything by Kashif. He was quite the talented musical entrepreneur. I wonder what he's up to these days.

  • Just saw Kashif on Unsung. Still looking good. Glad he's not out there strung out, as many artist that you don't hear about are. THUMBS UP!!!

  • @d35chae90 . No I'm not strung out. LOL. Life is wonderful here in Southern California. Still writing and producing. Thank you for your kind words!

  • @kashifcreative OMG... Ok, you said "YOU" weren't strung out!!! So like forreal, is this Kashif? Please don't play with me!!! I'm kinda getting star struck at the moment. Is this really you?

  • @kashifcreative Hi Kashif...its been awhile since i've read all the comments under the videos I've posted and it was a pleasant surprise to see your comments. You are one of the most underrated producers of to come out of the R&B scene in the 80s and if you ask me you should be up there with Jam and Lewis; and Babyface and LA. Thank so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to respond back to the posters who have inquired about you.

    God Bless you,

    Einahchild

  • @kashifcreative Ha kashif love your sound!. Thanks for all the good music back-in the days.

  • love this song, take me back to my childhood. lol that the lady in the black leather dress is drucilla from the young and restless. love it.

  • haha - Video Soul & Donnie Simpson!!!...memories!

  • First heard the song and got interested after watching VH1's "I Love The 80s Strikes Back Edition-1984" with the image of Daryl Hannah chewing the lobster happily on screen as the song was being played

  • Just think, that computer was cutting edge for its time!

  • I just love Whitney houston's background vocals for this song!

  • He looked like stalker ol girl was like WTF ?

  • Named my first born after him

  • @dinmc808 and I named my first born after Whitney houston. :-)

  • I hear Whitney at 3:13 and 3:18.

  • lmaooo im am sorry the song is good but this is one cheesy ass video damn thats why i say cocaine was bad to the 80's bahaha ...good song tho

  • true songs that you understood and loved

  • Ahh, fond memories of the spring / summer of 1984. FYI, there's a 4 minute instrumental on this Kashif album that continues this "Woman" theme. BTW, the green screen computer terminal Kashif is using is a DEC VT-100, which was state of the art then. I was an up and coming IT guy in my first job at the time. I had 21" biceps, a fast Plymouth 'Cuda, and I was gonna live forever. Cherish the day when / if R&B can ever rediscover the melodic side of its soulfulness as with this song.

  • @codenamelibra Brother, you have so eloquently stated exactly the same thing I was feeling (I was a newbie IT guy myself at the time). Thanks for putting it so succinctly. ^5

  • For all of you who are wondering where I am. I am alive and well living in Marina del Rey, Ca. I am still writing and producing music as well as directing commercials and documentaries. I thank you for all your kind remarks and statements. There is still a lot more good music inside me. I Just opened a school for youth in foster care ages 8-18 - Kashif University. If you are on Facebook look up Kashif Saleem. That's me. God Bless you all!

  • @Kashif1522

  • @Kashif1522 man you're music is the best it never gets old i can play it all day. My favorite song has got to be "Say Something Love" but i like "Send Me Your Love" also. I don't think anybody was f'kn with kashif back then dude is a beast!

  • @Kashif1522 I just love your music!! Wish I had the opportunity to meet you!!!

  • @Kashif1522 THANX FOR THE UPDATE AT WORK PLAYING OLDIES AND YOUR WHEREABOUTS CAME UP

  • tuneeeeee

  • The 80's rock!!!!

  • I dont think that was Whitney on the back ground of this, it was Melba Moore. Melba use to back up Kashif on many of his songs, then there was Evelyn King. Whitney came much later and she only did a couple. Melba and Evelyn was his 2 main ladies, they collobrated together and wrote great songs even for Whitney. Once you hear Melba's voice you never forget it, but they were all on the same record label back then so that Arista sound was very similar.

  • WOW amazing classic..and what's more is Whitney's background vocals..

  • AWWWW I here Whitney in the back ground....Love this song

  • Comment removed

  • Is he playing on an Oberheim or a Synclavier during the intro? Awesome stuff.

  • Another Great Oldie! Where is Kashif now? I'm still rocking this jam

  • I loved Kashif. He hasn't done anything in so long that it's easy to forget he was great. I love him. I still remember his live performance on Video Soul on BET, it was great.

  • WOW VICTORIA ROWEL FROM Y&R

  • VERY UNDERRATED ARTIST !!!

  • No, I think his talent was recognized and he went behind the scenes...he worked on most of Janet Jackson's tours...

  • @dano122772 he made it as a producer

  • the end of this video is just like the end of Micheal Jackson's Liberian Girl Video. With all the celebrities in it.

  • this got had a great start what happened did drugs take him down or what

  • I always liked his music!!

  • Japanese decor was big back in the early 80's, no?

  • and so well too

  • Smooth!

I dig the synclavier as well.

Too bad his older albums are out of print on CD.

  • Memories:-) Great Song!

  • i didnt know they had a video for this i always thought kashif was the shit ever since he wrote that book on the music industry which is real good

this surley lokes like the same director that did the woo woo song for jeffrey osbourne or miss me blind from culture club, i thought whitney did her first WELL KNOWN vocals on Teddy pendergrass Hold Me In Your Arms

  • I love this song... but can somebody post a better quality???

  • Excellent song!

  • I don't know why I thought she was the woman on Freddie Jackson's video. Sorry about that Victoria.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • :32 is a smooth dance

  • Go to 3:16 for a brief Whitney vocal.

  • looool...just i was 4 years old when was that great song comes out :)

  • As many times as I have seen this video over the years, today is the 1st time I've noticed that girl is Victoria Rowell from Bold & Beautiful/Diagnosis Murder lip synching Whitney's part

  • Victoria Rowell was on the Young & the Restless.

  • I was just thinking that was her

  • THIS song should have been a huge Pop and R&B hit! The song and video is superior over a lot of the stuff back then (even though R&B music back then was in a magical place).

  • What is that crazy dance he does at 1.24, i don't get it.

  • Yeah, that is a wacky looking dance. I actually wondered what the heck he was doing also and the best I can come up with is that he's doing some kind mime dance, pulling a bouquet out of a hat, something like that. It's a stretch but that mime stuff hot 20 years ago. It's sad but I'm addicted to this video!

  • hey he's trying to make that woman laugh.. xD

  • I hate to say this, but I think it was just bad dancing. The whole rocking back and forth thing. LOL.

  • I MISS 1980'S " QUIET STORMS " !!!!!!!

you couldnt miss this jam on dem late night radio SLOW JAMS.....

KILL GANSTA " RAP & POP CULTURE "....

say no to MAINSTREAM TALLENTS TODAY !!!

  • Clive, get Kashif back in the studio for Whitney as soon as possible! Akon is a joke!

  • Hey, Speaking of Whiyney. Do you know its whitney singer back ground on this whole album. Its was like her first major work..

  • Kashif worked a lot on whitney's first album.. the track "thinking about you" is my favorite from that album.. kickin asses!!

  • Exquisite!

  • i like this video, simple yet classy and interesting

  • lol my name is kashif

  • One of the female voices on this particular tune is a very young Whitney Houston ;)

  • I love this song, everyone is right this is real music. When people sang about true love and romance.

  • I love this song too...this song disqualified Nippy(Whitney Houston) from winning the best new artist at the grammies. She was robbed.

  • Actually it was the Hold Me duet with Teddy Pendegrass.

  • I really love this song..One of Kashif's best!

  • Baby are you the woman??? I feel in my heart that you are. Love at it's best!!!!

  • One of his best songs.

  • I thought I would never hear this song again, just love it! Thanks!

  • Wow !!! My Z-28, Browns Mill, and what memories ...

  • Love this video nice beat love kashif thanks!

  • This is Music!! Just to think back...ah Kashif!! Classic!!

  • Wow! This ia one of my all time favorite songs! Did you know that Whitney Houston sang the female part on this recording...they were labelmates back then.

  • Yeah isn't that crazy to have some random woman lipping to Whitney's voice in a proffessional video?

  • yep, she was random them..but this is victoria rowell..not sure of the last name spelling..she played drucila on the soap 'the young and restless' for years..not sure if she is there now..she was and still is fine!!

  • do yu remember a song he made called Condition of the heart

  • Yes, Yes, Yes, this is what I'm talking about!!! I love this song! I love Kashif too!

just one of the best songs ever!!!

  • Good music and musicians like Kashif were so common back then that we took them for granted. The garbage played today makes me appreciate Kashif much more as the years go by.

  • Pretty woman/ pretty car = sexy combo. Go ahead with your bad self, Kashif! lol Kashif's music is so kool. I love his version of "Love Changes."

  • These were the songs that I remember in my early days in the military. Went to my first unit in 1983.

  • i sang this ( i cant sing) to a bad shorty, and got good results.

  • Between the melody and Victoria Rowell this was my favorite video of that year..Man I miss the old Video Soul..Hey I just noticed is that Nona Hendryx in the video?

  • OH MY GOD. I'm 26 and I heard this song when I was a kid....I thought I imagined hearing this song, but it does exist.....now I recognize the voice :)

  • Victoria Rowell= HOTTT

  • yes i am the woman kashief lol j/k hell no not for you

  • Wow, I remeber this song !

  • Kashif was the shi-zit back in tha day! The whole Hush Productions crew. They ruled NY for a minute. Nice love songs back then...none of that back that a** stuff! (sorry Juv-e) This cut was so smooth...check out other Kashif videos.

  • Kashif was a member of a early seventies band you may have heard of called BT Express after leaving BT Express, he went behind the scenes producing the likes of Evelyn C. king, Lillo Thomas, Howard Johnson, Melba Moore and a host of others. He Came out with his debut album in 1983 and the rest is history.

  • Video's making me feel old

  • 80's videos were so cheesy, but oh so good!

  • i luv this song it really brings me way back

  • I used to love this song back in the day!

  • Was that victoria raoul from "the young and the restless"?

  • Yes

  • can you post Edgartown groove? The keyboards and bass are basically the same.

  • amazing. i thought bobby brown did this exact same melody with the exact same hamony.

did he only sampled it. wow.

the don't be cruel album has many little known tracks that need listening to.

  • amazing. i thought bobby brown did this melody. henonly sampled it. wow.

  • Kashif could have lasted a lot longer than he did, what happened to him after is recordings?

  • I must give props to Mr .Clive Davis for signing such great artist like Kashif , GQ, Whitney, Alicia Keys etc ..etc. LOve this tune .

  • What is he doing these days now?

  • This is his site brooklynboy dot com i kid u not :)

His latest album music from my mind is from 2003

The xtra CD included his first album so now u can have all his albums on CD.

    p.s. i like whitney's vocals on this song :D

  • Victoria Rowell, isn't she the newest mrs 50 cent?

  • i love this song never knew a video was out...thanks

  • love this song

  • I loved this song! Thanks for sharing the video.

  • nice Synclavier work on this song too. That was the workstation/synth of the early 80's.

If I remember correctly, Kashif said the words to this song came to him in the wee, early morning hours after he had awoken. He said he couldn't find a regular piece of paper, so he got a tissue or napkin and scrawled the words down.

  • Lovin' this video and song!! Greatest R&B producers of the 1980s along with Prince, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and The System!

  • don't forget Paul Laurence as a gr8 80's producer :D

  • Oooh i forgot the team Mauro Malavasi, Jacques Fred Petrus & David Romani (of the early Change albums [with Kashif on keys] & BB&Q band & High Fashion)

  • Kashif released a second video from Send Me Your Love (1984). I think it was "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart" or the title cut (I'm not sure which one).

  • Brooklyn's finest....and a one-time member of the B.T. Express...Kashif!!!

  • My mom was in love with Kahif

  • LMAO For real? LOL

  • Does anyone know if Kahsif released videos for "Lover Come Turn Me On" and "Stone Love?" If he did, can someone find them and post them up please!

  • I'm looking 4 them as well. "Lover turn me on (i just gotta have you)" is THE JAM!
