If he's in someone else's dream the die will show up any number but the number it's loaded for. For Ariadne's totem, the chess piece wil fall differently because she's the only one who knows how hollow the piece really is and how light it is.

Also, you can see the spinning top lose momentum a few times just before it cuts to black, and hear it rolling away as the end title rolls. Finally, Saito didn't own a water company, it was energy.
