  • I think a head scard can lookv sophisicated. I want to cover my shorn hair cut griowing out which is terrible!

  • coolio

  • how about for short hair? whats the best scarf to use for church service? Thanks!

  • Thank you for the great video.

  • aha now I know how to do it I love this style up to yesterday i saw a lady with it in a store and tried this morning but nope cld not recreate. thanks 4 it

  • the Christian reason for covering the hair is that the hair is the glory of the woman, her beauty and pride. thus out of respect for the Angels and for God, she should cover her hair, and out of respect for her self, fellow Christians, and God, she should dress modestly. if the hair alone is the covering, why ask a woman to be shorn if she will not be covered? i believe traditional Catholics and Orthodox and Mennonite ladies still cover the hair, though.

  • with my insane hair...I wouldn't mind covering my hair like this. It looks elegant too. Hair is overrated anyway.

  • Unfortunately, I began covering my head because my hair was thinning :( (if I don't in the summer I get a nasty scalp sunburn) I've been using bandannas, but I think they look a little tacky. I saw a woman wearing what I think is a tichel, and she looked really nice & classy so I decided to try it for myself but I didn't know how to tie it. Thank you for the tutorial video!

  • @Riana718 and @jadedbutterfly27 there is also the part mentioned that uncovered hair is like having short hair, a disgrace. But as in mainstream society short hair on women is not a disgrace this passage is rather negater

  • @chibimakochan Please remember to put everything into perspective and not take biblical writings literal. When that was written short hair was considered unatractive therefore a disgrace. Since short hair is now in fashion it's the comparison that no longer holds true not Gods dictate

  • @ClothesAndStuff you're right, that was rather quick of me to jump to that conclusion. It was a rather callus rebuttle after experiencing a comment earlier that day that Christian woman should cover their hair and keep it long. I still don't agree with this, but there are women who do and that's perfectly fine.

  • @ClothesAndStuff it is still considered unattractive. just ask most straight men. but, it was not a disgrace because it was considered unattractive, but it was unattractive, because it was a disgrace and a shame. what shameful thing is attractive? also, it was shameful because the same scripture states that nature teaches us that a woman should have long hair, so that means that if she cuts it, she is trying to go against nature.

  • @chibimakochan This is from the New Testament which Christians read. 1 Corithians 11. I do agree that this was a cultural comment. But among Christian women who cover however, most do feel that a womans hair shouold be long AND covered. I happen to agree with ClothesAndStuffs answer.

  • @Riana718: There is a lot of interpretation about this part of the Bible. Christianity has so many divisions and branches, each who interpret scripture differently. For a long time, Catholic women were called to cover their hair in religious services and some still do (I do); Eastern Orthodox women still do; many groups like the Amish and Mennonites cover their hair. Unlike the hijab or the married woman's tichel, most Christians do not, however, aim to cover up all the hair, just some. :)

  • As a muslimah myself I can verify that the headscarf's aim is to cover the HAIR and not the SCALP. A woman's tresses are a major attraction

  • short and to the point, very well done. i've been looking at quite a few videos now and this one was really simple to follow. thanks! =)

  • There seems to be confusion about religion and head covering. It's practiced in Muslim, Jewish and Christian women. There are different styles. Some Christian women choose not to cover their hair but it is called for in 1 Corinthians 11.

  • @Riana718

Now that just doesn't make any sense...wtf?? It tells you to cover your hair, but you say that if you have long hair your already covered???!! How dumb can you be...subhanallah

  • @SuperAFour "But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering." -1 Corinthians 11:15

  • @Riana718

Now that just doesn't make any sense...wtf? It tells you to COVER your hair , not that if you have short hair cover it, but if you have long hair you're already covered....that is just stupid to think, no sense whatsoever

  • @SuperAFour

I have heard and read it claimed that the Qur'an and that the Bible state that it is the HEAD (meaning the whole of the head, not just what - if any - hair is had on the head) that should be covered. BUT, I have alternatively ALSO heard and read it claimed that the Qur'an and that the Bible state that the head (not just any hair on it) not only SHOULD but MUST be covered.

  • @SuperAFour

BUT, I have also heard and read it claimed that it is INSTEAD ONLY the hair - rather than the whole of the head - that either should or must be covered, according to the Bible and/or according to the Qur'an.

  • @SuperAFour

Clearly, what is JUST the hair is not the same thing as is what is the whole of the head, and MUST be covered also clearly is not the same thing as is only SHOULD be covered.

In short, there appears to be a great deal of confusion regarding what it is that each of those - the Bible and the Qur'an - specifically do and specifically do not actually state in regard to these (among other) matters.

  • sefardim married women wear scarves more than wigs... I love scarves so much. They look so beautiful! I see them on women all the time. :)

  • how do u do this style if u have short hair? also is it common that women dont cover their ears with this kind of style?

  • Are u muslim

  • @anisa030

Orthodox Jewish women, after marriage, also cover their hair. There are a lot of ways of covering, including head scarves (tichels) to even wigs (sheitels). She's exhibiting one way of tying a head scarf, in this video, although they have several others also available.

I'm not yet married, so I don't cover my hair, but I like that there are so many different ways to tie it and appreciate that some women have posted some of their tricks for the rest of us to enjoy.
