  • That was Fay right?

  • No. Fay was a little bit later. I have footage of Fay on my account, but not in Miami. Fay didn't produce winds quite this strong in Miami.

  • wow great footage! I'd love to visit florida one day not only to enjoy the warmth but experience cool storms and thunderstorms. Here in CA is always sunny most of the year :(

  • Yeah, Miami has some good storm. But there hasn't been a single thunderstorm yet this year where I live in Coral Gables :( Very unusual.

  • California gets storms too. I lived in California all my life and we get the thunderstorm season for the inland valleys during the summer and the wet season for the winter and spring.

  • Oooh winds look to be gusting around 45-50kts there, great stuff! I like your vids Max, looking foward to more ^^

    Take care :)

  • Thanks again, Jacci. For a Florida thunderstorm it sure got me excited. But now it looks like I have hurricane Fay to be excited about.

  • good job :)

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome footage Max! This cell, and the outflow winds you got, were part of a line of thunderstorms that developed quickly this afternoon...moving eastward into the metro areas of Dade/Broward county. A tornado was reported in another embedded cell, in Hialeah, with two cars flipped at Palm Ave and 17th. The meso that produced it moved out over Biscayne Bay a little south of 195, moving east toward Miami Beach but I haven't heard of any other damage reports.

  • I heard about that tornado, and thats why I went "chasing" in the first place, but I was confused because there was no tornado warning, or even a severe thunderstorm warning - atleast there wasn't when I left my house.

So all this wind was just outflow? And did you get any high winds?

  • Yep...we got some strong outflow winds here at the port too (just north of where you were. From the 6th floor of my office, it looked like they were up around 30mph, or so, at times. The tornado warning was issued at around 2:50p and was effective until 3:30p... there was also a severe weather statement issued at about 3:30p, indicating that severe weather would continue through about 4p... so all that might have been after you left your house.

  • Did the storm blow up quickly? That sure is a lot of wind. Nice wind gusts. Great capture of an unexpected windstorm Max!

  • Yes it did blow up quickly. I was thinking I had to drive a half an hour north to catch the storm, but after driving for a few minutes I realized the storm had grown and was now directly over me. It was awesome. And thanks!
