That shadow going up the staircase is almost otherworldly and suspenseful. With the gritty cinematography and lack of sound I got that boogeyman feeling. The creature we always know is there but cant see within the shadows. Ever since I played the game "Bioshock" I haven't been scared of much when it comes to horror movies. But I just couldn't turn off my lights and fall asleep when I watched this for the first time. *15 yrs old and the basement was my bedroom*

Have you ever seen Werner Herzog's remake of "Nosferatu"? It's similarly creepy and mood-inspired. It uses the situation fo Murnau's film to create a larger portrait of the vampire as a sort of everexisting evil, to blame for all plagues, disease, death, etc.

Fun fact: Klaus Kinski played Dracula in Werner Herzog's "Nosferatu" and later played Renfield in Jesus's Franco's "Count Dracula", opposite Christopher Lee as the vampire.

@theawsomechanneldude -I'm pretty sure that the music was just edited in by Cinemassacre themselves. Obviously the existing original prints of Nosferatu didn't have any sound. The Kino edition I own added in some optional tracks, but they didn't sound like the music here either.

I remember having the computer game adaption Nosferatu the Vampyre for Commodore 64.

I could never figure out how to complete the first stage and it had some scary cover art. An image of Orlok holding a dead woman (or at least she looks dead) with bleeding bite marks on her neck and he's staring into the fourth wall with his mouth open wide, bearing his long bloody fangs.

I've seen versons that still call the vampire Orlock. One thing about Nosferatu is I love how people often think Nosferatu is the name of the Vampire instead of Orlock/Dracula. The rarest verson I've seen is a remake from 1979 called Nosferatu: The Vampyre

i have 2 DVD versions of this movie

the american version that's 84mins long and the orginal german version that's 94mins long

and in the german DVD you can see documentry and how the place looks now where they filmed outside.... pretty intresting too watch

Nosferatu still lives in motion picture history! Even if you don't like silent cinema, its still effective for its dark visuals and chilling atmosphere. I've seen Shadow of the Vampire and it was an experience all its own. Both films are highly recommended!
