Do you remember on Saturday Night Live when Chevy Chase was the anchorman on Weekend Update? It was 1975. Do you remember how Chevy would sometimes begin to tell a story by saying the name of a person while a picture of the person was shown on the picture screen behind Chevy, and then without saying another word, Chevy Chase would switch to another story? It would only work as a joke with certain personalities.
And Chevy Chase did do Jesse Jackson like that on that show

Let me guess, you're culturally ignorant, right? It has everything to do w/ Jesse Jackson's speaking approach and style. This was 1 of the most inspired skits on SNL history. It's like listening to Jesse do a campaign speech with his pulpit style. I don't remember any laughter in the audience after the 'I read from Sam I am' - this was in honor of Dr. Seuss's death... it was very seriously done, Kevin Nealon had a tear in his eye.....
