The legal drinking age in the Netherlands is 16 for alcohol <15%, but since about 10 years that law is quite strict (about 15 years ago, when I was 10, I would buy my dad some beers, and no questions were asked, that's no longer possible). But strict laws lead to more binge drinking by kids when they do get their hands on alcohol... The more restrictions you put on alcohol, the more of a problem it causes... But I doubt the Russians can make this law a strict one.
Lol you guys should come up to Canada and see how we sell our alcohol. There is no mom and pop liquor store here. You can only get cases of beer from the beer store and bottles of liquor from the liquor store. It's also a lot more expensive here than the states. They're not open 24 hours either and are regulated by the provinces.
Licensed establishments like bars and restaurants can only sell between 10 am and 2 am.
@Keiranforreal Uh... I live in Canada at the moment, and I can buy cases of beer at the gas station, along with sangria and other low-alcohol beverages. Admittedly, they aren't open 24/7.
@DirectInjected Well I live in Ontario and there is no where to get beer here other than The Beer store or LCBO. Maybe it's a little different out west. This province keeps that shit on the lock down though.
I read somewhere, but can't cite it, so your BS alarm should be buzzing, that nearly 2/3 of Russian men were legally drunk at the time of death. I'd say that's a sobering statistic, but...
I'm starting to get really pissed off at TYT. Everytime they "report" about something that happens in another country they ALWAYS get all the facts wrong. Sigh.....
Most of Europe doesn't seem beer as something "hard". In Germany, a 14 year old can order a beer as long as his parents are with him. Now, if you go to a pub, you could still get a beer at 14 ;) haha. 16 is the legal age when Germans can buy beer anytime and anywhere alone. Public drinking is also completely legal. Leave America just for a day, you'll realize the world is different.
As a resident of Ontario I wish we could by beer and wine in places other than the LCBO and Brewers Retail. In most places if you run out of beer at 10pm on a Saturday night you're out of luck. That and the ridiculous prices we pay for booze, for six Bud Light Limes we pay about $12. It's absurd.
@andrewsaccount09 Actually the map shows that there have been few hits in Russia but very few. Why? Nobody there watches English shows in the first place.
I'm a long time fan of TYT, but I got to say that TYT has a track record of reporting false facts when it comes to international stories. They have reported false facts about the Norwegian punishment laws of homicide, Saudi Arabia's citizens views of the Saudi royal family, and now this. I guess they pissed off some russians with this video like junkCCCP. Just like how they pissed off Norwegians, Australians, Saudis with their other videos.
Alcohol is such a bigger issue in Russia than here, which is crazy being so many are killed here each year by it, but in Russia it's a fucking plague.
@eternalcrumpet You can buy a case of beer at the gas station , it's not like they're saleing it with the fountain drinks or like you could buy 20 0z and drink anywhere . You're still not allowed to drink in cars or public places .
@leizuoer that would not surprise me at all but can't be too sure since i'm from england. i have heard of certain types of bank accounts however where when you open it, the bank gives you a free rifle. now that's just encouraging you to rob banks!!
I still don't get why our drinking age isn't 18. Why aren't more people behind lowering the age in the states? WE CAN GO TO WAR BUT CANT HAVE A DRINK??? Almost all problems in america are cause by the no-conservatives.
@bulbinking The problems in our country are caused by politicians and those who support them. And while I agree with you, that the drinking age should be reduced seeing as you are officially an adult and should be able to do whatever the hell you (legally) want, there are much bigger issues in this country than your desire to get smashed. Cool your jet Charlie Sheen.
@XvChriisvX Chinese "wine" is somewhat different from Western wine. It is difficult to use Western terminology to classify Chinese alcoholic beverage. Wikipedia has a good article on it: "Chinese alcoholic beverages." According to Wikipedia article, "History of alcoholic beverages", China was actually the first civilization/country to develop alcohol beverage.
LOL there is no curbing alcohol abuse in Russia. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever gonna happen. By far the drunkest place on the planet and always will be.
@JunkCCCP yea haha here too around those percentages. Strong starts at 7-8% but we have beers that are like 20 percent, freaking disgusting tbh:p. I like 'light' beers, with that I don't mean bullshit like 'bud light' 'cause American beer is a joke tbh. I mean beers like La Chouffe, Jupiler, Duvel and other white beers and such.
It was never classed as a "soft drink", it was a low-alcohol-content beverage. Russia used to have two different alcoholic drink laws, low-alcohol-content drinks like beer and stuff like that you could buy anywhere at any time, but you needed to be 18 years or older to buy it. High-alcohol-content beverages like whiskey, vodka, etc were only sold in stores and you couldn't buy them between 11 pm and 7 am.
I live in Russia at the moment. Disappointed in the lack of accuracy, TYT.
Well, that's the States. From what I've heard and read, most European countries' drinking age is 18. It makes little sense to me that a person is allowed to drive a car at age 16, allowed to go serve in the military and shoot people at age 18, but the government thinks they're too irresponsible to drink beer until they're 21.
@JunkCCCP I know how you feel. Whenever TYT does something from a foreign country, more often than not they get it wrong and their ignorance is shown.
@JunkCCCP what do you expect? theyve never lived in Russia and you expect them to be experts at knowing the alcohol laws lol be real. the main point of the story was that beer wasnt in the same class as hard liquor even though it can get you just as fucked up if you drink enough of it
@JunkCCCP Many states in the US have similar laws. For example in Virginia, you can buy beer and wine at your grocery store. If you want to buy liquor, like whiskey or vodka, you have to go to a state run store, that closes at 9pm and isn't open on Sundays.
Oh please like anybody east of Berlin actually pays attention to laws relating to restriction of alcohol. Any teenager can walk into almost any store and buy hard liquor. Ive lived in Bulgaria and its like that there, and my Russian friends tell me its pretty much the same in Russia.
@JunkCCCP Sometimes they get things wrong about my country (Australia) but I don't really mind. They focus on American news, not world news, so its understandable that they get a few things wrong here and there.
They are mostly accurate and they really do try to get things right and to understand the laws of other countries.
@JunkCCCP If you are correct, then well said. TYT is likely making fun OF and overstating the SEVERE alcoholism problem in Russia. I don't even think there is an American beer manufacturer that would produce a beer over 9%. However, we do offer those stupid, large, colorful cans aimed at young people (that taste like soft drinks) like 4 Loko which are simply killers at 12 %, plus caffeine.
@JunkCCCP nobody gives a fuck about accuracy on russia pal, you guys are has-beens your a third world unimportant country now, we dont care about impressing you
Accuracy in reporting is important even if the topic isn't. It's nice that you have to talk shit about something in order to make yourself feel better about your own country, though. Keep on thuggin', G.
I don't mind. I'm Russian by birth, spent most of my life in the US until the government fucked my parents over and deported them on a technicality after 9/11 happened and they started kicking everyone out.
It's not very good. The wealth disparity here is pretty huge, on average people make around 300 dollars a month, housing costs are rising, imported goods are expensive, there's insane amounts of corruption in the government and in business. I'm planning on leaving in a year or two.
Like really, why do you care?! Russians are actually more interesting than these sophisticated, critical, boring fucks! Pick another topic to talk about!
What? That's not true - you can't legally buy beer in Russia if you're under 18, at least you can't in the only cities that matter - St. Petersburg and Moscow.
@OrangeSaint420 Cigarettes don't intoxicate people in the same way as alcohol. Alcohol can severely impair judgement, reduce reaction time and coordination. This is why governments see it as a good idea to limit the places that sell alcohol, and the times at which it can be purchased. Not saying I agree with it, but you can understand why the laws involving the sale of cigarettes are generally more lenient.
@grenworthshero Oh, well I've been to US like twice, and never to gas stations :p I just assumed that the guy was talking from the perspective of North America. Here in Canada there's no beer in gas stations - and it really sucks!
@dagrimmreepa yeah, it would really suck. beer is sold @ gas stations cuz some small towns in most states, mainly central us, its the only store with in a half hour. u get everything there from groceries 2 tide ya over till u can make it 2 'town' 2 medicine 2 beer. its not so people can drink after getting gas. u might hav known but i'm just pointin it out 4 youtube world
According to YT, the last 6 videos that JUST showed in my TYT sub section, were posted 3 days ago. When videos arrive late to the list, they are just inserted into the menu as if they were always there. So I suppose I could backspace to 3 days ago and find them sitting there, pretty as you please.
Welcome to the payback Cenk.
CNN friendly piano playing cats are what they want, NOT breakout threats to big media.
YT wants to be an accessory to the mainstream, not an alternative.
haha i love russians, i lived there for 3 years and in the winter id always see guys walking around drinking vodka. compared to real mans liquor (vodka, jagermeister, tequila, whiskey) beer is like sprite
Wtf is that little jew talking about? Russians drank beer since like it was invented, all Europe has. Even during empire years. So I dont know wtf this idiot talking about that because of capitalism Russians started drinking beer. Europe is mother land of beer you fucking idiot. And Russia is where?! Europe, well its western part, which is most populated. Do some research first before saying some stupid shit.
@luckyStrike89ru first off why the fuck do you go off calling him a little jew? racist prick. second he is right because even though russians have been drinking beer for a long time it is not their drink of choice and was always put aside in favor of vodka or other strong liquor.
In America people drink beer to get drunk, in Russia people drink beer to sober up.
I haven't been to Russia, but in the Czech Republic they often times drink beer on breakfast .. even the kids ... and the heads of the Americans explode!
It is just beer people, not selling at bus stops and gas stations is probably a good thing, but it is still just beer. Americans just don't know how to properly drink it.
the tank story happend here in perth australia twice,a drunk man few years back walked into the army barracks with his friends id and stole a tank and drove it in street with all the nighclubs lol until he passed out
In Japan, the VENDING MACHINES on the streets that sell beer and sake, turn off at 9pm so that young people can't buy them.... Before 9pm..............
Vodka is still a soft drink.

dagrimmreepa 7 months ago
@dagrimmreepa
I don't know what gas stations you've been to, but most of them everywhere I've lived in the US sell beer.
grenworthshero 7 months ago 2
@grenworthshero Oh, well I've been to US like twice, and never to gas stations :p I just assumed that the guy was talking from the perspective of North America. Here in Canada there's no beer in gas stations - and it really sucks!
dagrimmreepa 7 months ago

All hail Synergy!

Do some research first before saying some stupid shit.
luckyStrike89ru 7 months ago 2
@luckyStrike89ru Even if his beer history is lacking the vodka lobby certainly had something to do with this.
JiffyNo0b 7 months ago
@luckyStrike89ru Beer was invented something like 10,000 year ago in the midlle east.

@kokofan50 Im talking about good quality beer. Not arab shitty beer.
luckyStrike89ru 7 months ago
