  • Loved the way this video was presented! Thank you for sharing, these will be my new snack. =)

  • @ndlz1 Thank you so much for watching :)

  • Just Like That !!

  • 00:58

    Dethaw??

  • like that -.-

  • I always thought these were supposed to be fried after you put them together?

  • @smttysmth02gt Shes making Spring rolls, u don't fry spring rolls. You may be thinking of Egg Rolls, those supposed to be fried b/c usually made from raw meat/eggs/veggies and such. For spring rolls u want to use Rice paper and for the one that u fry(egg rolls) u want to use the Egg Rolls wrap.

  • haha they have all kind of stuff from Blue Dragon in my favorite store here in ... Sweden !!!

I think I need to try this! mmmmmmmmm : )

  • yummmy....

  • do you have asian origins from wich country?

  • I am 1/2 Chinese :)

  • Always soak your shrimp in cold water. You don't want the shrimp to 'cook' in warm or hot water.

Also, I made a delicious dipping sauce. Mix wasabi, lemon juice, sesame oil in a bowl. Add a few toasted sesame seeds and enjoy!

  • The shrimp in this recipe are pre cooked and you are suppose to soak them in warm water according to the instructions on the bag :)

  • AWSOME!!!

  • instead of cooking the cabage can i just do it raw.. whats the reason for cooking it

  • Cooking the cabbage just softens it so that it's easier to eat, but you can leave it raw if you wish :)

  • after i can fry them?

  • Yes you can fry these as well :)

  • Just like that!!!! :)

  • Can these rolls be deep fried at the end, or do I need a different kind of wrapping for frying spring rolls?

  • Actually you can fry these wrappers as well :)

  • when you list "coleslaw" as an ingredent, do you mean just shredded cabbage and carrot, or fully made-up coleslaw mixed with mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar?

  • I mean just the shredded cabbage and carrots. Sorry for the confusion - I need to be more specific with this. Thanks for writing and watching :)

  • hI ya, I did google asian stores and chinese stores on line, The items that I am wanting to purchase they do not ship it is local pick up only. and these are for the online shops, they ship plenty of dry goods.

However i have another theroy when all else fails check Ebay , found rice wraps on there:)

Yes it is nice to have asian markets close by, But the nearest post office for me is 10 miles:) . I never had this problem when i lived in the states:)

    thank you for your advise:)

    lisa

  • Ebay - that is a great idea - thank you for posting this :)

  • hello,

i am trying to figure out how to ma spring rolls , i have looked everywhere in Cornwall UK for a chinse store only find them up country and they wont ship spring wraps , Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use? someone said use a crepe maker?

we cant get rice papers at our grocery stores either:( so any advise would be appreciated.

    Many thanks lisa

  • Hi Lisa- You can order the rice paper wrappers from Amazon (dot) com. Also, if you want to make your own there are several "spring roll wrapper recipes" that can be found online. I would just google "spring roll wrapper recipe." Thanks for writing and for watching my vids :)

  • Hello sewherry,

Don't want to sound like a butthead but you might want to google for asian stores in your area if not already. It is very rare for regular grocery stores selling these rice paper. I'm just luck to live in a city that has asian markets all over. And yes! You could do so much with rice papers. Beside the stuffing, don't forget the sauce!

  • Thanks, Lila. I will try both, fresh and fried, with and without sauce; Hoisin, sweet chilli, and maybe peanut, because I'm a legume.

  • Can I deep fry, or pan fry, this type of rice paper wrapper, or would that be an egg roll. Can I dip this in a sauce? (thousand island, salad dressing, peanut, sweet chilli, vinegar, oil and minced garlic and green onion, mmmmm)

  • I usually just serve these fresh, but I've found that you can deep fry them for about 2 min. And they can be dipped in any sauce of your choice - I usually use just a little hoisin or some soy sauce :)

  • Cut them in half "on a diagonal"? Is "Diagonal" the name brand of your cutting board or something?

Heh heh. I'm just messing with you.

I think you meant to say, "Cut them in half diagonally." Or, "Bisect them with your knife at a diagonal angle."

  • i could make better than this .............but this is a pretty good spring roll...tasty...yum....yum

  • wow great easy instructions, looking foward to trying the rolls

  • can you show us how to make peanut sauce??? for the dipping for spring rolls

    thankyou!!

  • I'll put this on my list of requests :)

  • Those look great. Is there a reason you did not put any rice noodles in them? Could you please provide a recepie for a home made cole slaw like the pre mixed one in the video? Could I use garlic powder instead of garlic salt? What is the "Hot Chili Garlic Sauce" you talked about at 7:11?

Great video; I will defently try to make these. Thank You!!!

  • You can put in rice noodles- It's just a personal preference that I don't. I will put "homemade coleslaw" on my video request list.

Yes you can use garlic powder and a little salt mixed together to make the garlic salt.

The "hot chili garlic sauce" is a red condiment type sauce that can usually be found in a plastic container in the ethnic section of a local grocery store. If you look at my vid about pantry ingredients it shows a pic of this sauce. It is also called "sambal oelek"

  • Thank you for your quick response. Very informative.

  • I could eat that all day,the spring rolls look tasty also. Yum

  • what if i want to fry them, will they taste just as good? i'm gluten intolerant (allergic to wheat) so i can't have egg rolls. i was kind of hoping spring rolls would be the same, deep fried and all

  • Yes they can be deep fried - although I usually eat them fresh, they should taste just as good :)

  • asia has the best food

  • i agree

  • do u have 2 deep fry them?!?

  • No - these are rice paper wrappers which do not require any cooking :)

  • These are delicious !!

    Thanks for the recipe.

  • Where can I get the recipe for the sauces ?

  • I usually just purchase these sauces at the store. The brands that I use are the Koon Chun Hoisin sauce (sold mainly at oriental grocers.) The tuong ot toi viet-nam hot chili garlic sauce from Huy Fong Foods Inc which is often sold at regular grocery stores; and the Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce (found at oriental grocers.) The Maggie Mae brand of sweet chili sauce is usually sold in regular grocery stores and is great as well :)

  • I'm sorry where does it come from your spring roll recipe? Is it really original?

  • Yes this is my original recipe which I've been making for years :)

  • Much appreciated eh** Thanks A lot**

  • oh, thanx, but where can i get them? please tell me, um, where can i get it in new york. manhattan, or any supermarket. please tell me. thanx.

  • I actually bought mine at a store called World Market. I'm not sure if there is a World Market there; but any of the little grocers down on Canal st. will probably have them :)

  • thanx

  • Not sure how far you live or where you're willing to go but there's an asian supermarket, taking the 6 train you'd get off at zerega avenue. That's where I got my spring rolls today. They had a big one and a smaller one. I got the smaller one for about $1.99, I believe.

    Chang Li Supermarket Inc

    2079 Benedict Ave, Bronx, NY‎

  • thanx

  • if u put too much, does the rice paper skin rip easily?

  • It will either rip or the filling will squeeze out the side if you put too much in it. Also, I've noticed that there are different thicknesses of rice paper wrappers. The ones that I use are fairly thick, making them a bit easier to use.

  • would super markets sell hoisin sauce or just asian markets?

  • Most local super markets do sell Hoisin sauce. They usually have an Asian section where you can find this sauce as well as soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and other Asian sauces and seasonings.

  • these looks so good!

  • A follow up on my previous post: I made these this afternoon, and they were stellar!

  • The pre-mixed slaw is a great idea. I was looking for something a little easier than chopping all those vegetables, and I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the video!

  • You should see the, "Knife Skills Chef Soh," video(s). Fast, fast, fast.
