  • this video was absolutely amazing, thankyou

  • i had to learn from youtube because my dad is bret michaels. i never see him D':

  • i shave with scissors because I'm a boss.

  • Thank you for the information. Another good way to avoid razor blade bumps & burn is by changing blades often. The problem with this is that it can become quite expensive to do so. One good online store where you can found good quality blades at affordable price is at ZiloStore.

  • Thanks for the upload. It's important to shave as safe as possible, thanks for sharing!

    PaceShave*com

  • how do u cut ur self with a disposable ? real men use a DE or a straight razor

  • I trim my beard with an electric razor frist.. wich doesn't irritate the skin then i finish it using a razor and use it agaisnt the hair growth, and since i trim it first it isn't "bumpier" to the razor.. doing this doesn't cause me irritation or razor bumps... and also i let my face skin rest in 3-4 days or even more.. to avoid looking like an animal, i trim my beard.. doing some diferent beard styles

  • Pussies use electric razors. That is all.

  • are you really serious? I shave in all drections.

  • Not sure about you, but the direction of hair growth on my neck is actually downward

  • you can use the cheapest disposable blades there are, and it wouldn't make any difference. It's the shaving cream you use. Nivea with skin Guard, or nothing at all!

  • Use a single edged safety razor. Plastic razors suck ass.

  • HOW I FUCKING HATE SHAVING DONT ALL OF US MEN WISH THERE WAS A WAY WE WOULDNT HAVE TO SHAVE ANYMORE LIKE SOMETHING WE CAN DO SO WE WONT GROW ANY MORE FACIAL HAIR SHIT IS ANNOYING

  • I really hate the advice to shave with the grain! If you use a quality SINGLE blade razor, there is really no problem at all!

  • Once with, once against the grain, with a quality razor. No problems.

What in the hell kinda expert is this?

  • use a straight razor

  • @daleduru What's a straight razor?

  • Shaving causes hair to grow thicker each time..

  • It's the 21st century, use an electric razor. If you don't, you deserve all the cuts you get!

  • @MrZocor

Even as it is 21st century i just love to shave myself good olfashion way :D

  • @MrZocor Faggot. Get a double-edge or staright edge. If you don't, you deserve all the cocks you get!

  • @MrZocor Only pussies use electric shavers. They are overpriced and work like shit. Get a straight razor or safety razor and be a man. Good your a pussy. Suck any cocks lately?

  • @Grizzly907LA i'm a pussy who never has to use toilet paper to stop the bleeding! What is a safety razor?

  • @MrZocor I don't use toilet paper. I use a styptic pen in the event of a cut or nick. I use an old fashioned safety razor w/double edged razor blade, shaving soap and proper technique. Using an electric razor is a good way to waste money and be a pussy. I get nicked and cut rarely. I can't believe your sixty one years old and use a fucking electric shaver. You must be mentally challenged, missing an arm or have some sort of physical malady. If you have any of those mentioned above peace.

  • @Grizzly907LA umm im sorry dude but electric shavers r not waste of money ;) ....i got 1 with charge and i dont lose or waste money at all !!! but i use razor to get more clean shave and more neat face:) oh and if ur worried about cuts and all .... use cream or foam/gel or anything that avoids cuts !!!

  • I have little scars/pock marks at the top fringes of my stubble. What is causing these??

  • This guy almost has a full beard which makes it easier to have less cuts. My problem is I don't want to wait until my facial hair is as thick as his before shaving every time. So I do it every 3 days when I don't really have a beard but the hair is still very visible. That is when I get the most cuts unfortunately :/

  • @ahuhm1 Real men have beards

  • OMG LOSER, i never have cuts or ingrown hairs, why? because i use an electrical RAZOr!!!!!!!!

  • I prefer to use a safety razor there the best

  • Left side of my face the hair goes down nd its no problem but my right sidee the hair goes up sideways nd down what way should i shave? And i get bumps but only on my right side what can i do

  • @FRod94 DUDE WTF I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE !?!?! phahaa lool how can you avoid this happening/get it to grow normal???

  • which way should i shave my pubes

  • @PhatySvn Go with the hair...downwards...and under that ball sack go upwards. Just like the face!

You might need a second run to get everything smooth.

But after a while of shaving that area, you will see that it wont grow that thick and long anymore and its then gets easier.

    Smooth like a babies butt!

  • Its me or this guy is fucking cute?

  • use a freakin Safety Razor, and You wont have problems

  • @XJNHMVz I find my shave being much closer using a straight razor, and you save thousands of pounds in the long run! Also, it's more economical :)

  • fuck i remember when i first shaved i didnt have cuts but i had the worst fuckin razor burn ever and then i stupidly put after shave on

  • i shave with straight razor never hurts....

  • real men shave with a straight razor.

  • you have very sexy adamsapple and beard!

  • wow expert village can do everything. lol

  • I do the same, shave twice, normal then agaistn but my acne screws me over.

  • #FAIL

  • im 16 and i do not have beard exept mustache.i want beard..whats the average age that beard grows

  • @redandblack103

    16-22

  • AGAINST THE HAIR GROWTH YOU DUMBASS...#FAIL

  • This is NOT EXPERT ADVICE on shaving .. shame on expertvillage #FAIL

  • skrew this.....I'll just keep abeard

  • or you could just not shave. mountain man style is in nowadays :)

  • just cut my neck :/ bleedin pretty bad :O

  • you can shave against the grain but you ABSOLUTELY need to re-lather with shaving cream a second time. Try using a shaving brush to lather you'll get a much better result.

  • i have a question im 16 and i want to start shaving but what shall i start with ? razor machine or barber machine pls help ?

  • @milotist razor is probably the easiest and safest way to go

  • @milotist i would use a regular razor and shaving gel. allways do it in the shower. the hot steam will open up your pores and relax your skin, thus making it easier to shave. plus, you will remove more hairs that way too other then using a machine. then, apply an ALCOHOL FREE lotion afterwards. no alcohol needed. :)

  • @milotist Get a safety razor, one with the double edged blades. Eiter that, or an open or cutthroat razor. But that is a bit of an investment. Seems like more work than a disposable crappy one like Gilette, but it is simply a better shave and it will cost you way less money in the end.

  • @lesleyhenriquez i shaved 5 times with a gillete and youre saying that gillete is crappy ? okay what shall i try now

  • @milotist Gilette makes a 5000% profit(!) on blades. Did you know you are being scammed? I went online (scheersalon(.)nl) and bought a Mühle first. It's called a safety razor. You will probably cut yourself once or twice in the beginning, but fuck it you will have a better shave. I used Gilette, Wilkinson in dozens of variations, but always some problem. Look here: /watch?v=d3XCaOLQo3s and /watch?v=sg18siodw3s. Never had razorburn again.

  • why is this on youtube?..lmao im not hatin though he knows what hes doing

  • Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 proglide mach 3 Proglide Mach 3 Proglide

  • Once you are used to shaving against the grain, it doesnt hurt anymore. It still irritates ur skin and makes the shaving spot look redish which doesnt look good. So i suggest you either dont shave agasint the grain or do what i do, shave agasint the grain like 1 or 2 hours before u go out do u u dont have patches of irritate red skin around ur mouth.

  • shaving upwards on the neck IS against the grain. It's ok to shave against the grain as long as you first shave with the grain and then apply more shaving cream. It will allow for a much closer shave.

    also shave after you shower.

allow the shaving cream to set on your face for a few minutes

change your blades every two to three shaves

dont shave immediately after waking up (your skin is puffy and sensitive).

  • screw shaveing...im just going to get naked and live in a cave down by the river

  • shave sideways after shaving with the grain and problem solved

  • @BelfastComedy Thought id just say its called across the grain not sideways

  • thanks i didnt even realize youwerent supposed to shave agains the grain!

  • @ModestDanny

Danny you didn't realize that you weren't supposed to shave against the grain, but you also didn't realize that Cho Seung Hui is your true lord and savior. Accept Cho into your life and repent your life of sin.

  • braun 9595 is the best electric shaver. way better than razors and norelco. i have all 3 and braun is my fav. try it out!

  • Don't use cheap crappy blades! There's a significant difference in buying those that come with 4 or more blades that glide easily even with a thick beard you'll get a more comfortable shave. It's worth the money believe me!

  • gillette for best razor in the world

  • wax tablets

  • i have to spend $20 a month on blades and i only have to shave once every 3 days or so< its fucking expensive too but i always shaved down on my neck and most of the time get lots of irritation and ingrowns

  • @blazinloud

try bic triple blade razors, i only shave face every other day (and shave rest of body, minus legs) once a week and i still get use out of one razor a week in a pack of 8. that means one pack will last me two months, at only 7 bucks a shot. what is 7 bucks a month in the thick of things? seriously try the BIC triple bladed razors for sensitive skin (those are ones i use even though i don't really have sensitive skin, it goes easier. 8 pack.

  • bumpstoppers bro. they sell it at walgreens and is fucking amazing I get razor bumps on the back of the head and this made wonders. I also get irritation in my neck and I put bumstoppers afterwards and before going to sleep I rub suave "cocoa butter with shed" and it has done what no other aftershave or cream has done.

  • useless video. didn't do shit.

  • How about shaving across the grain fo the second pass?

  • Sucks

  • most of the time expert village is stupid

  • how do i get this shit off the screen

  • @LPtheYank

Click the CC button under the video.

  • his grain doesn't run up OR down. it runs sideways, weird. ususlly it starts out sideways but eventually goes down.

  • use a straight razor thiers issard, nuf said

  • The number one (#1) reason why some men get razor burn is a dull razor or pushing to hard. Use the weight of the razor.

  • @cosmicpowerz thats not true atall all you fags that shave everday DONT,grow a beard untill the hair is soft like fur then shave in one direction ONE time and you wont fuck up ur face or get razor burn and itll be really smooth

  • ditch the froo froo razor and get a cut throat razor. Best shave you will ever have if you do it right. If you don't do it right you won't be alive to complain.

  • @hempseed57

always wondered, if you do just a "with-the-grain" shave with straight razor, after you're done and you brush your hand against the grain of face, you feel any hairs left or is it so sharp that an "against-the-grain" shave is not necessary?

  • @TeslaDRay Do a "with the grain" pass first to get the majority of the hair. Then do a second pass across the grain. Not against the grain but across it. If you take the time to actually try a straight razor get proficient you will find it by far a better shave. And its not as hard as people think, I just like to hype up the MAN factor of using a straight razor. It's a manly thing for manly men.

  • @hempseed57

what angle though? it's hard to tell from the vids. how low do you have to lay razor on your face to do it?

  • @TeslaDRay lay the razor flat against your face angle it up a bit and try it see how it cuts. As long as you are sliding the edge over the skin it wont cut but as soon as you drag the edge across that's when you cut yourself. make sure its all up and down and no side to side. There are tons of vids on Youtube showing you how. Just type in straight razor shave or cutthroat shave.

  • @hempseed57

yeah, have done that, always wind up with "hi this is joyce with expert village" lol and she uses a feather razor. but i'll look at the others, it's hard to tell.

  • Shave with first, then against the grain, no tug and pull and you get a cleaner shave.

  • @Krathis191 meant to also say i never get skin irratation like he said.

  • actually the best way to shave is to use a double edge or straight razor, the cost of which is much cheaper than cartridge razors within a year or so, even if you go out and splurge and get all that expensive stuff... it also helps to you know, actually lather your face properly

  • Use a Merkur Slant Bar & your shaves will be awesome,

  • actually this guy's grain (like most guys) goes down and toward the ear, but i never go with grain anyway, only against and i never burn. you gotta use the right blade and shave soap bar that's all. my skin is medium - not too sensitive, not too rough.

  • Thank you.

  • mehhh shaving my neck is easyy people make sucha big deal about it ok this wil sound dumb but fuck it GUYS WANNA SAVE MONEY ON SHAVING CREAM AND CRAP WELL buy a few of them cheap razers and make sure u got soap and there u go lol

  • impossible. you won't get a smooth shave without going against the grain. i go ONLY against the grain and i have no problems.

  • thanks this is the only expert village video to actually help me

  • Mustache always down.

  • @Fredo5227

no i can get away with going upward and i have a fairly thick beard too (well if i let it grow that is). Mustache is always the easiest.

  • No wonder I always get cuts on the chin and face and not the neck. I have been always shaving upwards everywhere. Just only one question, what about the mustache?

  • shaving is a pain in the ass

  • @ashman102

too bad we can't wax....well we CAN but who wants to bother.

  • @ashman102 I TOTALY AGREE WIT U MY GOATEE AND ALL THAT GROWS BAK N LIKE 3 DAYS

  • @ashman102

especially shaving your nuts. no, dead serious.

  • @ashman102

try shaving your head every day :(

  • @ashman102 thats why im proud of my mountain man beard

  • @ashman102 lol not really unless you mean trying to keep your face it smooth constantly try to shave your legs now that's a bitch to do..

  • he should hit that with an electric razor 1st and then just quickly blade off what's left over. forget all this 1st, 2nd, and 3rd passs shit, is a waste of time.

  • use a proper straight razor!

  • @TomRAFC

except when shaving your nuts. use 3-blade razor with dove moisterizing soap.

  • Oh my im a beginner shaver and i was totally shaving the wrong way T_T

  • and once again leave it to expert village to provide absolutely useless "how to" videos...

  • i always shave against the grain, no problem with me but you have to soften the hairs first with warm water before shaving

  • @berfu91

exactly. same here, never bother going with grain 1st, i just do against because i shave every other day so it can't get too long.

  • Some men have "difficult" skin type which makes shaving againt the hair direction a painful experience no matter what. But for most men I totally agree with you. If shaving against the hair gives you problem, you lack on either skills, proper equipment, or both.

  • Well don't shave at all, only trim. It solves all of your problems.

PS: A beard looks better on a man then a baby face. lol

  • Commercials?! Oh, oh....Time to find another Channel or another website sort of like Youtube.

  • i dont need to know how to shave face only in my pants....sooo the hair grows down right?

  • haha yeah it does, but i go down first,

    then up. works fine =]

  • I heard that shaving against the grain is bad and I TRIED just shaving with the grain (i don't even have a full thick beard) and it looks like shit, there are stubbles all over my face, it looks like i didn't shave at all. I even tried it with a 5 blade razor with the power button, still looks awful. Shaving against is the only way i can get a close shave. Its either have a few ingrown hairs on my neck or save with the grain and look like shit or don't shave at all, no way to win...

  • You probably use too much shaving cream.....

  • Actually, you are right i do use a lot. I don't have much experience with shaving, I just saw in videos (and movies) people use a lot and i do it to because i thought it was better for your skin but honestly, its not like i use a gallon of shaving gel, so i don't know if it will make a difference and get a close shave that i want but it may help.

  • I know, shaving only with the grain doesn't do the job.

However, if I shave against the grain on my neck, I'll get serious irritation and razor bumps.

I go with, across, and against the grain on my face, but on my neck I just go with and across the grain, which gives a close enough shave.

  • continued;

which gives a close enough shave with no irritation, sorry.

  • Most everyone is in the same boat. A wtg pass done multiple times will still not get you that "baby" smooth shave most are looking for when going on a date or a job interview. I can get away with a 1 wtg pass on my face, and an atg pass on my face for a super smooth shave. with the neck, I have to go wtg, then a side stroke pass, then if i'm feeling lucky I'll then go atg. But that being said, A one pass shave on your neck always looks better than blood clots and razor bumps :)

  • is shaving with a mechanical shaver bad? everyone uses razors but they take so long.. whats so bad about mechanical shavers?

  • I usethe best phillips shave avaible and I use it every day. Its nice and if you shave long then the shave gets good as well. But I just compared today with a wet shave. It was a cheap shaver but it was just better, smother and softer. But I had a disaster aferwards with a big razerburn and I cut myself serveral times. So I was bleeding ^^ And it takes way too long so I think in the moring I use the phillips. For awesome results I use the wet shaver.

  • I really wish I would have seen the video before.... :[ my face is irritation village. WTF arent we taught this by our parents...........

  • Am i just blessed or something? I always shave against the grain only with warm water, never had a cut or burn. Maybe it's because i'm not a grizzly bear like this guy, lol.

  • HAHAHA grizzly bear LOL!!!

  • i wouldn't say your "blessed" for not being able to grow a full beard... god had pity for you and gave you no cuts or burns during your pathetic shaving of patches on your face.

  • And you're just the biggest manly man, talking people down on the internet. You stupid fuck. Like you know anything about me. And if you reply again, that just means you're a little bitch that can't take the truth. Go play WarCraft fuck nut.

    []Deace Bitch.

  • the words from a patchy man

  • I think there's some 13 year olds who need to be tought a lesson by you on the "PS3 vs 360" video. Go have fun bitch.

  • for somepeople with thick beards it pulls their hairs so it hurts like a bitch

  • @ice788 You are so lucky. My skin is super sensitive, so even when I shave with the grain, my skin gets real irritated. I wish I had your skin.

  • @ice788 YEAH, probably because you're a pussy bitch low on testosterone

  • @TheFreePisces Because we all know it takes a huge alpha male to talk shit over the internet. Plus testosterone has very little to do with the type or thickness of facial hair. Oh and that comment was over a year old. Grow up.

  • mee too bbro only on my upper lips but i allways shave against the hairs because it way closer of a shave and u look so much cleaner afterwards

  • I almost always get razor burn on my upper lip. :(

  • cuz your upper lip stinks

  • Comment removed

  • @30301500

    hahaha

  • @30301500 wtf @ the hostility

  • too close to the camera!

  • ! ... I need to do my fist shave.. so.. hehe Anyone can give me tips for this.. I really feel that I need it.. because people says that my face is dirty when its my face hair... so.. any tips?

  • noob what tips, just buy a gillete and shave, "D

  • If you don't shave both ways then you're not going to get a clean shave.

  • but sometimes that look nice as well

  • @CosmicPowerz

True. I must at least shave with and across the grain to have a decent result.

  • If I shave with the grain, I'd might as well not shave at all. It leaves so much stuble, it seams to just flatten the hair against my face, even with a new blade. Even right after shaving this way, it looks like I haven't shaved in a day or two. I get a closer shave with an electric razor unless I shave against the grain.

  • Comment removed

  • Help.... what kinda of steel are single razors and Gillete double and triple razors made of? What would be a good shaving cream? And aftershave lotion??

  • If you use a traditional shaving soap or cream applied with a decent brush with multiple re-lathered passes you should find you are able to shave WTG, ATG and XTG without issue.

Try it and you'll never go back to the bog standard stuff sold in supermarkets again.

Check out user Mantic59 for a real guide to real shaving.

  • Just for confirmation, and to let me and others know:

    WTG = With the Grain.

    ATG = Against the Grain.

    XTG = Across the Grain.

    Yes?

  • I am currently using the Orbix REV360. Their technology has overcome any need to shave in one direction. I used to get terrible bumps and irritation from using the Gillette and Schick shaving products. With the REV360 I can shave in any direction I wish without nicks, cuts or irritation.

  • im 15 i need help whenver i shave with or against nothing still comes off and it leaves five o'clock shadow never gets it all please help

  • with 15 a five o'clock shadow?!

  • lol iam 19 and i cant get mine to grow in let alone a 5 o'clock shadow.:)

  • ummmmmm shaving is not that difficult

  • I have a very heavy beard and was getting so much razor burn on my neck that I finally had the hair lasered off and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. After about 5 treatments (the total price was aroud $500), about 85% of the hair on my neck is gone and there is not enough of it to cause irritation. It's worked out great for me. I'm considering having similar treatments to the areas on both sides of my chin, just above the jawline. I don't suffer razor burn in these areas (cont'd)

  • . . . but the hair grows in several different directions and it's nearly impossible to get a close shave there without a few nicks.

  • I find that if I shave with the grain only, I never get a really close shave. I used to do a 2nd or 3rd pass against the grain and it felt great afterward. The trouble was getting nicks on my skin and some neck skin irritation. The next shaving would cut those irritations.

My solution was to go with a Braun shaver... and I have not looked back since. I get a very smooth shave... not quite as close as a blade against the grain, but very good. And no cuts!!

  • Nothing like a good old fashioned straight razor though ;]

  • If you use the right soap you wont have to worry about the direction you shave in. Seriously, it's all about the soap you use ... and a few good hygiene habits.

  • @magiclifestyle101 What soap would you recommend?

  • @jtmoney091 Did you check out my shaving videos? I use a soap with coconut oil for the glide surface and moisture. It also has a wetting solution that helps the soap to penetrate the hair. Hope that helps.

  • So that's why my blades give up after 3 weeks.

  • i HATE INGROWN HAIRS AND RAZOR BUMPS AND RAZOR CUTS

i have a ingrown hair or razor bump from shaving 3 days ago =(

  • Everything you said here is wrong. You always shave against the grain. You shave to get the closest shave possible, and there is no way you can do that going with the grain. If you prep your skin and use a good Badger brush, you should be able to go against the grain and get a perfect shave without razor bumps or other problems. .
