  • This is cute, and goes a long way to prove the legitimacy of hypnosis, though the techniques and chemicals used during MKULTRA are much more sophisticated, much more powerful and much more monstrous.

Take LSD, for example. You could give just about any subject a high enough dose to allow them to become highly suggestive, but that is just the tip of the iceberg; just a single, practical example.

  • GREAT SOUND XD LOL ( assasin sound epic.. ) ( 6:33 ).

  • The hell. I remember watching this whole thing already on the Friday it came out. How come I don't remember any of it though? wtf

  • @Ar15snhappy Who said he was brainwashed in seconds ? - he wasn't

  • @Ar15snhappy it has no point if he can shoot better or not. daren even said he didn't have high expectations for the shooting, and that even still it is irrelavent to the experiment.

  • @Ar15snhappy You're obviously not versed in the power of suggestion and psychology.

  • @Llawliet246 dude stfu....hes full of shit look it up. he says its for entertainment purposes only.

  • @mttbaduy just goes to show that if you attend university for 3 years and sit with your nose in a book, come out and then you meet Mr Brown, all of a sudden you learn all the things that you were not taught in your lectures.

  • I am like a super marksman without hypnosis :D (RTCW <3)

  • is this fresh or old?

  • I wonder who is the celebrity they are going to make him kill.... Justin Bieber??

  • I love using hypno peak techniques it leaves people speechless.

  • This is just incredible. Easily the most intelligent, fascinating thing that's ever been on tv.

  • @fatfacerick Yes it is good, intelligent magic - although not magic really just a factor of the "Human Condition", that we all possess presented very well

  • the lie detector was impressive :>

  • at 812 we see a pellet gun loaded and fired. at 911 we see what seems to be real gun is loaded and fired in slow mo! why the change??

  • @texasfran It's called cutting the fat. Going from a pellet gun to a real gun and explaining that would take too much time in the show, as well as being repetitive (they went from a rifle to a pellet gun before, so going from a pellet gun to a real gun would add on another minute or two.)

Also, the audience are 'idiots.' I didn't see the change until you pointed it out. so it helps the narrative along.

  • The sound to put him in the marksman mode should have been the theme music to the Jason Bourne movies!

  • you idiots the WHOLE THING IS FAKE eg 6mins 50 seconds - when Derren says 'bring your finger up' then the bloke is already turning his finger and lifting it up towards his forehead BEFORE Derren even told him to

  • @mitch4500 no he's not

  • @mitch4500 not saying its not fake, but that's just a video edit to speed up stuff, Derren had already said it

  • Yay... new Derren Stuff on Youtube!!

  • This could give people ideas!

  • @ellieandjimmy Yup !! - Good eh ?

  • @computersolutions164 i mean bad ideas. But still maybe good ideas

  • Told my mum about bobby Kennedy's death and she said i should look on youtube and i should find his head being shot. I was like. Urm no thanks but you can all if you want!

  • If you found this interesting have a look at what happened in Jonestown when the wheels came off the MK Ultra programme.

  • The experts at the start say that they don't think the CIA could mind control people. The MKULTRA project, Mockingbird and artichoke files are declassified saying that the CIA did indeed do this.

  • @bitterleesweet I was actually looking up stuff on MK-ULTRA etc last night. There's loads written about it, declassified papers etc and I guess once you remove the rubbish and conspiracy theories, you might be left with an element of truth

  • that ringtone is creepy in this

  • basically darren is giving him a temporary split personality

  • I think the academics seem to whitewash the idea that someone can not be influenced or controlled in some way. I'm sure if there were in the armed forces they would review their belief!

  • @davrothelegend That's a good point actually, especially if you look at the American military, where killing is a job. you are sort of brainwashed by your platoon commander that killing is great. regardless of whether the person standing at the other end of your gun has actually done anything wrong or not.

  • This reminds me of The Robbery Derren did. Very similar

  • Continuity error. Previous to the 9:00 mark, you see no ear protection while he's shooting with the pistol. Yet once you pass that timed mark, it shows him wearing the ear mufflers around his neck. Chances are that it took him MANY more times to get that accurate.

    Interesting fact.

  • @novitasx Or they filmed that afterwards/seperately for the special effects people.

  • @novitasx I think they simply filmed the talk after the training and then the editing team combined them! I genuinely believe that what he says is accurate since he is working with a large team and eventually the word would come out if it was fake! Remember all his reputation is based on his being honest (about his showmanship) and not using any paid actors.

  • @ogancantr Oh no, trust me, I'm not accusing Derren Brown of using any stooges or doing foul play. It's merely a tiny editing detail that my fiance caught. I'm quite an avid fan of Derren's work and honestly, that continuity error only shows that they actually took a long time to help train him with different types of guns as well. It's a bit insane to expect someone to have a good shot like that only after a few tries. =]

  • I haven't finished this part yet and the thought just occurred to me that, if the experiment does work, this could be used as an argument in favour of RFK's assassin's innocence....

  • @bigbadwormdawg Well yes it could be, i mean he has been denied parole 14 times on the grounds that he has not shown enough remorse for his actions. Well he wouldn't do if he did not know what he was doing at the time, pretty shallow argument for keeping somebody locked up.

  • @computersolutions164

Do you really expect US courts to really consider any possible evidence? The US may act like it's all rosy and civil, full of freedom etc... but they have very deep and dark secrets

  • @waqasahmed939 No they probably would not consider anything like this at all and you are probably right about "America's Secrets", good title for a programme too. It would be nice however to think that there might be a faint possibility that one day this sort of "evidence" might possibly be considered in a court of law.

One of the other correspondents here made the distinction between the "MK_ULTRA" people trying to do this and failing and Derren doing it correctly and succeeding.

  • @bigbadwormdawg not really if u research the case the bobby K killer admitted to the crime, saying he wasn't crazy he did it for his country. he also admitted to it in count. it was an excuse his lawyer used years later in an appeal hearing.

  • @codeXenigma Fair enough, all I know about the subject is what the film shows us. It does, however, lend strength to the conspiracy nuts' argument

  • @bigbadwormdawg yeah i know. but u have to remember derren is open about how he works.. misdirection, manipulation, and showmanship. google Sirhan Sirhan and read the case history.. derren brown is a show not a documentary.. for the same reasons that most magicians can't really walk on water ~ he gets u thinking its possible to hypnosis someone into being a killer with a conspiracy theory.. rather than a real case. it all works with the show. how much do ppl believe? even in the face of evidence

  • Thanks for this, Derren Brown rocks and I missed it because I was stuck at work :-(

  • @bigbadwormdawg You are very welcome, glad I've made your day a bit better :@}

  • I lover Derren's sense of humour

"This is the type of lever action rilfle that every American child is issued with"

    Brilliant - LOL

  • @computersolutions164

yes I notice how Derren threw that in there.I can't get mad either(an american)because a certain group a people's thrive on violence. It's no different from the roman empire though.

one more thing I'm kinda wondering who does derren listen as far as how far he can take this show.He saids "the allegded"mkultra experiments or claims whatever..from the cia.

this is precariously moving n2 the realms of dismissin of government admitted inside jobs...u know where Im going

  • @lopytube Derren is an entertainer with a difference that he researches what he does way in advance of anything being shown on TV. He just puts a lot of effort into what he does. Even if he tells you a bullshit story it is all for effect. He gets away with a lot more on in the theatre and he does on TV
