If you notice american type dogs have very poor working capabilities. Even the american German Shepherd's angulation is so extreme, that its hind legs are too long and that makes working harder. A dog's personality should not be sacrificed for looks. Americans screw breeds just to make them beautiful, but in the case of Akitas they just made it uglier.

elective gastropexy is worth it for peace of mind. can still bloat, but no torsion.
