This is awesome. George Lucas has been giving the middle finger to his fans for so long now and has vandalized the beloved original trilogy with his inane tinkering, much of it poorly done. His vision demonstrated here is exactly what the die-hard SW fans have wanted in the original trilogy all along. Watch and learn, GL...

This is incredible. How the hell did this man manage to fix THIS much? The Taun-taun animation smoothing is incredible, and the Cloud City shots are just amazing. Not to mention he managed to not only COMPLETELY CHANGE, but FIX the Emperor's Hologram. The single BIGGEST fuck-up to ESB: SE on the DVD's/Blu-Ray.
The roto on the lightsabers is a little wobbly and the scale is inconsistent between shots. The glow on the Falcon take-off looks like a stock standard additive-transfer in After Effects, so the shot looks like a model all over again because of the lack of detail.
Have you ever thought of doing work like this on the prequels? This might be impossible but it'd be nice if the Yoda from the prequels looked more like the puppet from the original. Also I like the idea of editing them, like in the phantom edit, but you might do a better job

Well made indeed. But there's no reason to applaud him/her for making something "better" than Lucasfilm. This was made 30 years after the movie. At the time they weren't able to create all kinds of fancy things with the help of a PC, and nowadays even if they could they probably wouldn't want to do so. They've already re-released these so many times.
I have a question. When I saw the "Special Edition" of Empire a long time ago on TV it seemed to me that one of the worst "improvements" made to it was that the ending felt re-edited. (Maybe to be more "fast paced" for the cool kids of today or some crap.) Gone was that sense of melancholy. Is the editing in this "Revisited" version the same as the Special Edition, or is it closer to the original's?

Empire Strikes back was such a masterpiece. Sure, it was a goofy adventure movie with cartoony characters, but it is the pinnacle of that. I'm glad to see someone giving it the care it deserves.

This is how you remaster a film. No ridiculous CGI monster scenes, re-dubbing of a character's voice or insertion of pointless lines necessary. This is all that needed to be done in order to further enjoy an already wonderful film.

Not only does Vader have a completely different voice but the extra scenes completely screw with the flow of the escape scene and ruin the brilliant musical score by John Williams. We don't need to see the shuttle going to the stardestroyer. The whole sequence was perfect in 1980 and it was destroyed by the Special Edition.

The whole tempo changes, the cuts don't blend in properly and ruins the whole pace of the sequence. And it's clearly a different voice. It's modulated completely different and sounds nothing like he does in ESB. He sounds more like his voice in ROTS. And he has plenty of time to get to his stardestroyer. We don't need to see his journey.
@adywanuk now that i listen to the scene the original sounded more out of place, the tempo is barely noticeable so i dont care. He doesnt have plenty of time, the shuttle isnt there yet and the Falcon is picking up Luke. Im sorry but unless the shuttle is faster than the Falcon which beat the Kessel run then i highly doubt bring my shuttle makes sense!

But without seeing the original version, I still think that Vader's voice sounds totally different from the rest of the movie. And the music just cuts off when it jumps to that "altert my stardestroyer scene." I think adywan's made a good decision cutting that scene cuz it just doesnt fit in. Besides, we can kinda assume that the shuttle is there cuz Vader obviously arrived in Cloud City in that same shuttle.

We should be focused on the Falcon's escape, not seeing something we were informed of in two seconds. The tempo is "barely noticeable?" You don't notice how the entire score slows down? The rest is fast, yet the new parts sombre for no reason. The lines are awful too. In the original, you can feel his anger, in the SE, it sounds like he doesn't care. Good riddence!

@nicotipro1 No, i will only be doing 1 version. There is no need to have Morrison's voice in there at all. Just because Boba is a clone of Jango doesn't mean that he would ever sound the same as him, especially after his father died when he was so young. They should have changed his voice when wearing the helmet in AOTC to closer match Boba's in ESB if the whole "clone sounds the same" thing is what they were going for and not the other way around.
@adywanuk My sister is an Embryologist, with a Masters degree in Reproductive Biology. She's fascinated by cloning, but insists that it is a myth that clones would be identical copies. In reality, clones are no more identical than dizygotic twins. They would not look, act, and sound like 1:1 duplicates. I know the cloning done on Geonosis science fiction and not science fact, but it's good to know an expert backs up your decision! :)
@nicotipro1 Plus i have no need to use Morrison's poor performance in my edits because helmeted Jango will be sounding more like Boba does in ESB when i get to AOTC. If people prefer the new voice then they have the official DVD's and this edit will not be suitable for them. I can understand why he wanted to change the Emperor in ESB but Boba's voice change was another one of the many things that didn't need changing
@relaxwill this one will be released in 720p, but episode 4 will only ever be SD as there wasn't a HD source available until i had almost finished the edit.
@donaldthescotishtwin I think you'd be the only one that would want to see Hayden in ESB. Not only that but it wouldn't make any sense. The reason we see Luke's face in place of Vader's in the mask is because its a warning about what path Luke is following. Luke went into the cave with his weapons, even after Yoda told him that he wouldn't need them, which was an aggressive move. This could lead Luke on the path to the Dark side
This movie isn't out yet, but look at it. Total color correction, enhanced bacgrounds, new mattes, better special effects, every fixed error, overall definate version of ESB. This movie won't have as many changes as ANH or ROTJ or not even close to the big changes that will be made to the PT. Spread the Adywan word around.

Oh, I saw the newest update where captain needa after losing the milleneum falcon goes to the Executor to "apologize" to vader. The tie bomber like shuttle is replaced with a lamba class imperial shuttle! Bravo, Adywan! I was wishing lucas had done that! c'mon george! get with the program!

Absolutely brilliant. I just found this, along with other various clips on your EPIV revisted. The color correction work is breathtaking, the visual weight has been restored. This is precisely how any future revamp of all the films should be (i.e. Final Edition Blu-Ray) I am signing up at Originaltrilogy immediatly. Major kudos Adywan!
it's just a trailer so the sound effects aren't what will appear in the final movie. Although the lightsaber sound used in this trailer was taken direct from the 5.1 DVD ESB mix where they changed his lightsaber sound to the ROTJ one for some stupid reason. But that will be changed back to the proper sound in my version
Well after thinking someone should do something like this for a long time, I just discovered fan edits today. This is really impressive and goes beyond what I could have hoped for.
The bridges of the star destroyers, whether Venator, Imperial, or Executor class are identical. Probably a pre-fab bridge module that they all have. lucas meant for his sets to have repeating patterns, so they could reconfigure them to be reusable for different scenes.
Adywan would you be able to put dash rendar in the background at hoth?? Like in a speeder or something to show some continuity with shadows of the empire??

The whole tempo changes, the cuts don't blend in properly and ruins the whole pace of the sequence. And it's clearly a different voice. It's modulated completely different and sounds nothing like he does in ESB. He sounds more like his voice in ROTS. And he has plenty of time to get to his stardestroyer. We don't need to see his journey.

@adywanuk now that i listen to the scene the original sounded more out of place, the tempo is barely noticeable so i dont care. He doesnt have plenty of time, the shuttle isnt there yet and the Falcon is picking up Luke. Im sorry but unless the shuttle is faster than the Falcon which beat the Kessel run then i highly doubt bring my shuttle makes sense!

But without seeing the original version, I still think that Vader's voice sounds totally different from the rest of the movie. And the music just cuts off when it jumps to that "altert my stardestroyer scene." I think adywan's made a good decision cutting that scene cuz it just doesnt fit in. Besides, we can kinda assume that the shuttle is there cuz Vader obviously arrived in Cloud City in that same shuttle.

@SusanStarfieldPower Your entire complaint is that they're "bringing" his shuttle? So what? The added scenes ruin the tension. We should be focused on the Falcon's escape, not seeing something we were informed of in two seconds. The tempo is "barely noticeable?" You don't notice how the entire score slows down? The rest is fast, yet the new parts sombre for no reason. The lines are awful too. In the original, you can feel his anger, in the SE, it sounds like he doesn't care. Good riddence!

And how is your vision of Vader any more accurate than mine? It's not. Vader's a passionate guy. I liked how frustrated he sounded in the original, and the new scenes break the pace, end of story. Besides, you're not being forced to watch something you don't like. Go watch the SE if you prefer it.

So you have plans to edit the Prequel Trilogy as well? As far as I'm concerned, they don't need fixing, since they are already pretty much FUBAR.
But joke aside, I thought the whole Revisited project was solely about restoring and improving the Original Trilogy. Besides, what could you do with Ep I-III that hasn't already been done to death by other faneditors?

@nicotipro1 No, i will only be doing 1 version. There is no need to have Morrison's voice in there at all. Just because Boba is a clone of Jango doesn't mean that he would ever sound the same as him, especially after his father died when he was so young. They should have changed his voice when wearing the helmet in AOTC to closer match Boba's in ESB if the whole "clone sounds the same" thing is what they were going for and not the other way around.

@adywanuk My sister is an Embryologist, with a Masters degree in Reproductive Biology. She's fascinated by cloning, but insists that it is a myth that clones would be identical copies. In reality, clones are no more identical than dizygotic twins. They would not look, act, and sound like 1:1 duplicates. I know the cloning done on Geonosis science fiction and not science fact, but it's good to know an expert backs up your decision! :)

@nicotipro1 Plus i have no need to use Morrison's poor performance in my edits because helmeted Jango will be sounding more like Boba does in ESB when i get to AOTC. If people prefer the new voice then they have the official DVD's and this edit will not be suitable for them. I can understand why he wanted to change the Emperor in ESB but Boba's voice change was another one of the many things that didn't need changing

@donaldthescotishtwin I think you'd be the only one that would want to see Hayden in ESB. Not only that but it wouldn't make any sense. The reason we see Luke's face in place of Vader's in the mask is because its a warning about what path Luke is following. Luke went into the cave with his weapons, even after Yoda told him that he wouldn't need them, which was an aggressive move. This could lead Luke on the path to the Dark side

This movie isn't out yet, but look at it. Total color correction, enhanced bacgrounds, new mattes, better special effects, every fixed error, overall definate version of ESB. This movie won't have as many changes as ANH or ROTJ or not even close to the big changes that will be made to the PT. Spread the Adywan word around.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait... I only just heard of Ep. IV revisited the other day, downloaded and watched it--- BY FAR the best fan edit of any movie I've ever seen. I almost couldn't breath watching this trailer, it's a work of art. I can't wait for this, and especially can't wait for Return of the Jedi in 2013! ;)

Oh, I saw the newest update where captain needa after losing the milleneum falcon goes to the Executor to "apologize" to vader. The tie bomber like shuttle is replaced with a lamba class imperial shuttle! Bravo, Adywan! I was wishing lucas had done that! c'mon george! get with the program!

Absolutely brilliant. I just found this, along with other various clips on your EPIV revisted. The color correction work is breathtaking, the visual weight has been restored. This is precisely how any future revamp of all the films should be (i.e. Final Edition Blu-Ray) I am signing up at Originaltrilogy immediatly. Major kudos Adywan!

it's just a trailer so the sound effects aren't what will appear in the final movie. Although the lightsaber sound used in this trailer was taken direct from the 5.1 DVD ESB mix where they changed his lightsaber sound to the ROTJ one for some stupid reason. But that will be changed back to the proper sound in my version

The bridges of the star destroyers, whether Venator, Imperial, or Executor class are identical. Probably a pre-fab bridge module that they all have. lucas meant for his sets to have repeating patterns, so they could reconfigure them to be reusable for different scenes.
