I loved all the Deep Purple's, they were all great in their own rite. I was lucky enough to see MKII & MKIV,and I gotta tell ya, MKIV was one wild fuckin band onstage. They put on a great show, rocked the house, sang their asses off. I've been to 100+ concerts,and nobody rocked like Purple. You KNEW, when you went to one of their shows,it was gona be wild. Ritchie was awesome, but IMO, Tommy B put on a 10 time better live stage show. They all rocked!

@omhyr21 You're right,Ritchie,a great guitarist par excellance, is/was a weird duck. He didnt allow other members into his stage area. Wouldnt sit in the same section of a bus or plane with them, insisted on his own dressing and lounge room. The concert I saw with him, he basically played with his back to the audience for 1/2 the nite. Tommy,though he had a bad problem, was quite the showman. He did have awesome shows as attested to by Jon Lord & Ian Paice both.Great in his own right for sure.

Both versions of Purple are great.  Remember these guys ALL like to JAM. This era of music had LOTS of free-form improv. Glenn Hughes is just incredible too. No, it's not Gillian, but it's still cool
