Try looking up 'blackmail'. Blackmail involves a threat to reveal another's criminal act, with an eye toward gaining something (e.g., money) for NOT revealing that act. There's nothing even CLOSE to blackmail in Thunderf00t's willingness to be satisfied with LESS THAN the full measure of penalty he COULD HAVE sought against VFX.

and also, there is a difference to pursuing legal action on a crime that is widely known - and it was widely known, there is a youtube video expressing explicitly that this act was perjury - and saying "i will not expose your crime if you do this". everyone is completely within their rights to not pursue legal action, and it is perfectly legal to come to an agreement with the offender outside of court.

Try looking up 'blackmail'. Blackmail involves a threat to reveal another's criminal act, with an eye toward gaining something (e.g., money) for NOT revealing that act. Like I said threatning to not report a crime unless you do XYZ.... is blackmail. Perjury is a crime(which is what thunderf00t claims Shawn comitted). And in order for thunderf00t to even claim it was perjury to YT, the courts would need to hear if Thunderf00t comitted a copyright infingement(which is a civil suit). VFX would have had to file a civlil suit against
thunderf00t to find if it was an infringement and then TF could have counter sued.

Which he did. VFX filed a DMCA against TF. TF was then within his legal right to take action against VFX for perjury - and would have won.
TF DID NOT say "I will take legal action unless you disappear", it was a suggestion. What you see in this video is misleading, seeing as VFX DID NOT disappear, and TF DID NOT take action (he settled for a public apology). There was no harrassment, and no breach.

TF had no legal bounds to offer an agreement, or resolution on a perjury charge! Perjury is a federal crime. You don't make agreements with someone not to report a crime. And TF had no ability to arrest someone and the lawyers he used committed a serious legall offence in suggesting they had the ability to do so.

I'll explain one last time THICK head. Blackmail is threatening to do what would otherwise be legal. For instance, hypothetically I say to you," I have pictures of you committing a punishable crime, but if you close your YouTube account I won't take action." Would be blackmail, as otherwise reporting the crime by releasing the pictures would be legal. My purpose is to compel you to do an act against your will.

TFoot had professional legal advice through the whole series of events. everything he did was within the terms of use for youtube, and the law. what VFX did was perjury, which is not within the law.
and on the note of the "we wont peruse legal charges if you do this...." police do this regularly. they go to someone and say "you wont be charged as an accessory to murder if you tell us who did it". if the police do it regularly, than you can assume that it's legal.

and also, there is a difference to pursuing legal action on a crime that is widely known - and it was widely known, there is a youtube video expressing explicitly that this act was perjury - and saying "i will not expose your crime if you do this". everyone is completely within their rights to not pursue legal action, and it is perfectly legal to come to an agreement with the offender outside of court.

Except it wasn't blackmail. You lot have no legal education whatsoever, do you? It is very common for such situations to be settled outside of court, and also perfectly legal. It is NOT blackmail to make an agreed settlement out of court. Blackmail? Blackmail would be "Do this or I'll release a humiliating video of you." But saying, "I'll agree not to go to court if you do so-and-so" is NOT blackmail and is a perfectly legal, common, and ENCOURAGES form of settling legal conflicts.
