@bpast27 Okay i'm just gonna put it out there and say that I don't like Sorato. Mostly because I grew up with the thought of Tai and Sora dating and I still feel that way today. BUT, I do respect the fanbases only when they're not raging all the time, and I know that both sides of the argument LOVE to flame and rage. I used to be like that too, have a burning hatred for Sorato and push Taiora too far, but then I kind of realized how annoying I was being. @Gemmarose9 Like I said before, the English dub has horrible dialogues, and does little justice to the the original Japanese script. The whole dinner thing with Yuri (FYI that's the guy's name) in Russia is only in the English Dub. In the original Japanese version, Sora and Miyako (Yolei) are only wanting to stay longer so they can try Russian food. There is no mention of wanting to have dinner with Yuri whatsoever.

That's why we have fanfictions and role playing, so we can imagine Takari happening, or we can fill in the missing years the series leaves out. It's unlike they didn't date anyway.

@Gemmarose9 Yamato does yell, "Sora, I love you" in the drama CD 'Michi e no Armour Shinka'. There are about 3-4 drama CDs for the first two seasons, & they are all audio (no video). 'Michi e no Armour Shinka' happens after 02 during Valentines Day-- after Sora & Yamato start dating. There's a lot Sorato hints in it, including Sora wanting to buy Yamato chocolate. But the dramas were never translated to English, which is why most Americans aren't familiar w/ it. The audios are on the web though.

Antis would like to think they get divorce later, but there is no official statement to back it up. Sorato divorcing is an old rumor that butthurt fans refuse to let go. And it is a pathetic rumor that holds no weight.

I'm a Sorato fan all the way, but I feel obligated to help the Taiora fans out on this: Tai and Sora did probably have something going on in the first movie when they were eleven. I think that Sora saw Tai as too much of a brother, though. I mean, if you've known a guy since he was young enough to cry over spilled ice cream, how could it be any other way? And though it's obvious Tai like-liked Sora, it was just a passing crush.

@Gemmarose9 I recommend you to watch the Japanese version to get a better understanding of Sorato, especially season 01. The original develops Sora and Yamato's relationship MUCH BETTER than the English Dub does (I always felt the English Dub was poorly scripted). For instance, Sora and Yamato's dialogues are a lot more heartfelt than in the English ver.
Ex: when Yamato leaves the group. Sora is clearly the most understanding & caring towards his wishes, which Yamato is verbally grateful for.

@Koshisekisen Yup, the Japanese version is 100x better. The English writers must have been high or something when they wrote the script for the English Dub -_-. Because I swear, some of the things the characters would say sounds so lame.
And the English version totally BUTCHERED the concert scene with Sora and Taichi. It totally misleads viewers into thinking Taichi wanted to ask Sora out, when in the Japanese version he was only there for support.

All this video shows is that Sorato is (unfortunately) official. It doesn't show they have feelings for each other. Sorato came out of the blue with no buildup and almost no evidence. And besides, two of those hints have just as much indication of Taiora as they do Sorato. Yes, I support Taiora and feel it should've been canon. Sorato was contrived and forced IMO. Basically, this is how I see it.

There's got to be Taiora in the original for there to be so much in the dub. Sorato was the work of one person who didn't like the idea of Taiora even though all the evidence pointed in that direction so that alone destroys any credibility the ship might have had. Like I said, Sorato may be canon but it sure as hell ain't true.

Weak, I know, bot can't say there's no evidence. Still, I'd say Mimi probably ended up with Michael based on the hair color of her son...

I kind of rank them at the same level of strength, though...Out of the actual anime, I'd say Koumi has more basis, but Jyoumi has more interaction within anime.

Sorato is a bit more compatible personality-wise, I find, but Taiora definitely had a lot of potential. Jyoumi, in my opinion, had the same potential as Koumi. Thanks to Michael and a stupid decision made by the director, though, neither of our dreams were fulfilled...

@littlecloudflower Well, the episode you reference has evidence of Jyoura too if you take as evidence for Sorato. What I mean by concrete is, aside from "The Crest of Friendship", there was no indication of Matt and Sora having anything other than a friendship in Season 1 and there was nothing in Season 2 that indicated otherwise either, and then suddenly, in "A Very Digi Christmas", Sora decides to date Matt? There was no basis for it. That's why Sorato felt forced to me.

There wasn't really much indication of a potential couple in either seasons except for that one. To be fair, as a former Taiora guy, all of this 'evidence' happens LATE in 02/Season 2, sparks directly from the Christmas episode, and has little substance before. The closest we get is the despair cave thing from season 1 - and even that was with Joe. Sorato's nice and all, but it really was kinda forced into the story.
Actually, the reason the studio says they are married in the Japanese version and not the North American version is because they knew people would not understand why they're together, so they did not make them married. That is the actual reason, not because Sora and Matt are less involved in season 2, you would think T.K would mention his own brother's marriage? Thats because in the North American version, they are not married.

If nothing else, Matt and Sora's relationship (hotshoted into canon as it was) clearly extends at least for twenty years, enough time to have kids at least. The NA version left the ending slightly less official over here since they were clearly Taiora supporters (and really, who can blame them?) but seeing as it's a kids show kids imply marriage. So...

BUT, I do respect the fanbases only when they're not raging all the time, and I know that both sides of the argument LOVE to flame and rage. The whole dinner thing with Yuri (FYI that's the guy's name) in Russia is only in the English Dub. In the original Japanese version, Sora and Miyako (Yolei) are only wanting to stay longer so they can try Russian food. There is no mention of wanting to have dinner with Yuri whatsoever.

'Michi e no Armour Shinka' happens after 02 during Valentines Day-- after Sora & Yamato start dating. There's a lot Sorato hints in it, including Sora wanting to buy Yamato chocolate. But the dramas were never translated to English, which is why most Americans aren't familiar w/ it. The audios are on the web though.

@Gemmarose9 I recommend you to watch the Japanese version to get a better understanding of Sorato, especially season 01. The original develops Sora and Yamato's relationship MUCH BETTER than the English Dub does (I always felt the English Dub was poorly scripted). For instance, Sora and Yamato's dialogues are a lot more heartfelt than in the English ver.
Ex: when Yamato leaves the group. Sora is clearly the most understanding & caring towards his wishes, which Yamato is verbally grateful for.

@Koshisekisen Yup, the Japanese version is 100x better. The English writers must have been high or something when they wrote the script for the English Dub -_-. Because I swear, some of the things the characters would say sounds so lame.
And the English version totally BUTCHERED the concert scene with Sora and Taichi. It totally misleads viewers into thinking Taichi wanted to ask Sora out, when in the Japanese version he was only there for support.

All this video shows is that Sorato is (unfortunately) official. It doesn't show they have feelings for each other. Sorato came out of the blue with no buildup and almost no evidence. And besides, two of those hints have just as much indication of Taiora as they do Sorato. Yes, I support Taiora and feel it should've been canon. Sorato was contrived and forced IMO. Basically, this is how I see it.

Matt is merely with Sora
Sorato may be canon but I will never accept it as true.

@Kookie209 Provide ONE SPECK of evidence that Koumi is in the original Japanese sub. As for Taiora, there's not that much dub tampering so that argument is invalid. There's got to be Taiora in the original for there to be so much in the dub. Sorato was the work of one person who didn't like the idea of Taiora even though all the evidence pointed in that direction so that alone destroys any credibility the ship might have had. Like I said, Sorato may be canon but it sure as hell ain't true.

There was a lot of changes apparently (most of which I don't get XD) I have nothing against Taiora. They're adorable together. ...I just love Sorato more.... NO OFFENSE INTENDED

They are the same age, and apparently some director was saying he meant for them to be together at the end but didn't do it in an interview...But that's largely unverified. Weak, I know, bot can't say there's no evidence. Still, I'd say Mimi probably ended up with Michael based on the hair color of her son...

Haha, quite a scene...But yeah, Jyoumi also had some evidence towards the end of the first season, when he decided to stay with her. I kind of rank them at the same level of strength, though...Out of the actual anime, I'd say Koumi has more basis, but Jyoumi has more interaction within anime.

@Devotedlamb19 As for Sorato, there is evidence when he rescued her from her sadness in the first season. However, I do agree Taiora is more prominent in that season. Still, feelings can change. Sorato is a bit more compatible personality-wise, I find, but Taiora definitely had a lot of potential. Jyoumi, in my opinion, had the same potential as Koumi. Thanks to Michael and a stupid decision made by the director, though, neither of our dreams were fulfilled...

@littlecloudflower Well, the episode you reference has evidence of Jyoura too if you take as evidence for Sorato. What I mean by concrete is, aside from "The Crest of Friendship", there was no indication of Matt and Sora having anything other than a friendship in Season 1 and there was nothing in Season 2 that indicated otherwise either, and then suddenly, in "A Very Digi Christmas", Sora decides to date Matt? There was no basis for it. That's why Sorato felt forced to me.

There wasn't really much indication of a potential couple in either seasons except for that one. Plus, since it was a kids show they would want a happy ending for the two and so they would have these two together. And even if they did divorce, Tai obviously has his own family if he has a kid and therefore those two don't even up together EITHER!

To be fair, as a former Taiora guy, all of this 'evidence' happens LATE in 02/Season 2, sparks directly from the Christmas episode, and has little substance before. The closest we get is the despair cave thing from season 1 - and even that was with Joe. Sorato's nice and all, but it really was kinda forced into the story.

Actually, the reason the studio says they are married in the Japanese version and not the North American version is because they knew people would not understand why they're together, so they did not make them married. That is the actual reason, not because Sora and Matt are less involved in season 2, you would think T.K would mention his own brother's marriage? Thats because in the North American version, they are not married.

If nothing else, Matt and Sora's relationship (hotshoted into canon as it was) clearly extends at least for twenty years, enough time to have kids at least. The NA version left the ending slightly less official over here since they were clearly Taiora supporters (and really, who can blame them?) but seeing as it's a kids show kids imply marriage. So...
