I actually had a recruiter contact me and I did not know how, because i showed no interest in the military. He was all asking me questions and shit trying to get personal like "well, how do you like school" and blah blah. I told him no and told him I wanted to be opted out and never heard from anyone ever again.

Whenever I talk to a soldier it seems like I only get rhetoric in response. It's the same talk about defending our country against vague, unnamed threats even when we're in a war of pure aggression.

It's not about rhetoric for me- it's about the people. From the "enemy" civilians that suffer in war, to our own soldiers. Yes, I feel compassion for the soldiers too. Three of my closest friends are in Iraq right now, and two of them joined because they felt the military was their only option.

Combat Arms makes up only about 1/3 of all the Army branches.

The recruiters are merely putting out information. They're not forcing anyone to sign anything.  Also, they don't force anyone to re-enlist or anything.
