  • Your,Your,Fo-Jo's daughter i'm oing a progect on her in class god bless and never stop running or singing and don't forget 10:49

  • easily keys at your fingers with a very touching voice coated in a wonderful composition. Round choice you performed - Congrats. Subscribed<3

  • You are a VERY gifted composer. Beautiful work with the piano and I'm very picky and have great taste in musicians. You don't sound like anybody else and yet have the same musical genius/gift that other great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, etc. did when they first started out. They stood out because you knew that they were going to become great artists. You have the same talent as a composer. No shit. Good luck! ;-)

  • tnx :)

  • you have a great gifted voice, Im from philly and i once met your mom at the Penn Relays ( a yearly track meet held in philly ) and I wish you well @ Santa Monica College, LOOK FORWARD AND DON'T LOOK BACK !

  • You are hot!

  • This is really weird. I just read the Dream Chaser article as well and I noted the ever-present 10:49 time, but I didn't think anything of it. Then I clicked this link and listened to this song. Still thought nothing of it. I looked at the time and realized that I began to listen to your song at exactly 10:49pm. Amazing... When I was a kid, I thought that your mother was a hero. After reading this article and hearing this song, I am even more convinced. Bless her and you.

  • you go gurl ! Be encouraged and keep up the singing. You have a gift. Blessings!

  • omg you're great!!!!

  • You have a gift! Follow your dreams! Best of luck in Santa Monica!

While I'm rambling, how did you get the keyboard to play the higher notes inverted like that? That's kinda fOnky!

Tell Uncle Sweetwater I said Hey!

    Te Amo Mucho,

    Q

  • The keyboard probably has a split function, which lets you make the two halves different voices, volumes, or octaves.

  • Mary,

Just read the the story on ESPN and it brought me to tears. Your family has a remarkable and touching story. You're DESTINED to be GREAT so don't worry about a thing. I wish you the best!

    Much Love

    Kel

  • I had the fortunate pleasure of seeing your mother run in Indianapolis Olympic Trials the year she set the World Record-I was amazed to see that kind of beauty and grace.

You have your own beauty and grace-don't worry about trying to be anyone but you. Live your own dreams.

    Blessings

  • I just read the ESPN "Dream Chaser" about your family. I pray that you have much success in whatever you do. Just know that you are blessed to have parents that love you and want the best for you...I will always be a fan of Flo Jo, and back when your dad was in college, Arkansas State he attended my fathers church, he always spoke highly about him and how nice of a person he is. Be Blessed!

  • Hi Mary-

I just read the ESPN article and you and your family are a true inspiration. Keep following your dreams and discovering your passion, there is nothing to hold you back. One of my favorite lines in literature is "To thine ownself be true" and your mom lived out those words to the maximum and I know that you are, too. Keeping you and your family in my prayers over here in Israel.

  • Hi Mary,

First and foremost, I want to say God Bless You and your family. I read ESPN's story, and it proved that one has to stay strong, even during the toughest times. There's no limit to what you can do, and, Mary, you are proving it. Again, God bless, and much success.

  • Mary,

I am crying "Alot" I love the song and you are a very special young lady! The story on ESPN was uplifting and as a son of a famous man who passed away too early!! I understand how things can be at times while you are on your own journey! Stay blessed and know that the world have all "Cried A Little" for you and your family!!!

    Gary Lewis from New Jersey

  • It's a very good song Mary, good luck with your music and everything you do.

    Kevin

  • Beautiful, 10:49 forever!

  • You are very Beautiful just like your Momma! That is a beautiful song to go with that Beautiful voice of yours. My Dad just passed and left me confused. Your song is a lifting. Thank you and God Bless.

  • God bless you, Mary.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jer 29:11

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths." Prov 3:5, 6

Blessings to you and your Dad

  • Hello Mary,

I just read the ESPN article, and it brought this grown man to tears because I would not know what to do with myself if I lost my wife. But it also put an enourmous smile on my face to see that your family has endured and found peace within the situation. I know that you will be great at whatever you do. Be blessed

  • I'll be honest, i had heard of Flo-Jo, but I didn't really know anythign about your family until I read the article. Music is such a gift to those who possess it, don't let your dream get away

  • nice job right there girl

  • this is great, you're very talented. your mother was a pioneer and an inspiration to female athletes everywhere, myself included. i wish you all the best in all of your endeavours. <3

  • an american dream of an american dream! Go Ms Mary Joyner, go dream!

  • So funny, I noticed your last post was after 2am here in Cali time...LOL! Like mother like daughter you night owl! How endearing!

  • Mary, I'm not a religious fanatic, but your story reminds me of Proverbs 6:20-22, change son with daughter. It's a passage my mother gave me when I parted to go play football at Arizona St Univ when I was in my youth in '87, so meaningful and reminded me my parents were always with me though apart...and to honor them in word and deed. I'm anxious to see how your career plays out. Know millions of eyes unseen are watching how your life unfolds, comes with the territory of being FloJo's baby.

  • Mary, what an incredible article! Been a fan of mom and pops since '84. Wondered what happened to Flo Jo's little girl....what a nice catch up. Very inspiring people, the three of you...Alesha must be too to be with your dad.. Having read the article, Im that much more proud of your parents and so proud you've grown up well. God bless you in all your endeavors....you're all some of our Lord's most beloved. Will happily await hearing more of you and your life Mary. Much love for your fam!

  • Thank you, thank you, bless you all. It means so much to me for people to hear my music. It is my world and my strength. Hope all is well. -Mary Joyner

  • Amazing article!! I grew up watching your mom run in the Olympics. My three favorite athlete's in the 80's was Magic, Carl Lewis and Flo Jo. Such a beautiful woman, amazing athlete, but most of all an incredible soul! Your song really touched me. I am part of a bereavement camp for kids called Comfort Zone Camp. I think your song would be perfect to share with the campers. I will share your story with them and perhaps you can come and share your song and/or be a mentor to a camper.

  • I also read the story on ESPN. You and your father are indeed brave and may you continue to be an inspiration to others and use your gift for God's glory!

  • wow..just realized it was 10:49 when I started watching this video... amazing. Best of luck to you.

  • Just curious, Mary... It seems that you play the high notes with your left hand and the lower notes with your right hand .... this would be the opposite of your basic piano. Is the video reversed?

    touching lyrics. beautiful voice.

  • Beautiful song Mary. Proud of you and your Dad. Al ran track at Arkansas State in Jonesboro Ar. Years ago. He was always a great guy.

  • 10-4-9....... I have always said, I wish I had the gift to sing. TONE DEF, not going to happen for me. Believe it or don't, I finished reading Dream Chaser, scrolled back up to click this link, as I did I looked at the time...YEP! 10:49.... BELIEVHER. Never stop dreaming! Give it your all, whether it be singing or track...shoot do both! Get your Platinum and your GOLD! Best wishes! ...still a little weirded out..

  • THANK YOU god Bless -Mary Joyner

  • It's alright. I'd say fine tune the piano part or maybe the piano part is fine and you just need to play it on an actual piano. But I'd say you're a star in the making. You got the voice for it. :/ good luck kid.
