'How children see things that adults understand completely.' I love that concise description ... It's a universal theme that can transcend the specifics of your story. Someone won't have to have been through the revolution to understand.
Fantastic Ester! I gave it thumbs up. Hope you get it made!
I was in the US Army in Germany when the wall fell. We were near the Czech border.
Czech's had been driving over to Germany, packed in those ŠKODA's. My Hummer had Red Cross markings, I was a medic. I was driving on the autobahn when a group of people flagged me down, I thought they might need medical help.
They turned out to be a Czech family. The Grandfather wanted to meet an American soldier, to thank for liberating his village at the end of WWII. I was the soldier. I felt so happy.
This sounds very, very interesting. After visiting Gdansk and learning more about the Solidarity-revolution, my eyes have really opened up about the end of the cold war.
It sounds like a very interesting story. If you make a film about it I would like to see it. My personal life was in turmoil after October 19,1989 and didn't really return to stability till sometime in 1992, so I wasn't keeping up with worldly events during that time. Good luck!
@filmester Too much to describe in detail. It started when I lost my job in Connecticut. Then I was told if I was willing to move across country I could be hired for a position to be filled. I did and it didn't work out. I was making out 2 rent checks a month. Then I found a job at a startup company which went under in 2 months. I also lost $10,000, but that's a story in itself. Things were dismal and I was feeling worthless, to say the least.
The concept of a great change as being big would stand out more to a 14 year old than an 11 year old. Although at 11, they would sense more than at 8. ;-)
So Ester, is the Velvet Revolution part of why you make documentaries?
My sense at the time was that it was a few months delayed, but that may be why there was a lack of blood shed. There seemed to be a united feeling of inevitability in Czechoslovakia, and it seemed more like they were focused on pushing out the Soviet Order to get back to normalcy.
I still need to get to Prague & Plas! (home of great great great grand parents)
@filmester Well actually my family and I were primarily staying in austria (wien) vennia but we spent two days and one night in prauge and im a huge history and art nerd !
your eyes are really pretty in this vid.

I rarely thumb up vids, but for this, it was my pleasure.

You could try using Kickstarter to raise money. Or Wreckamovie for finding people to help with production.

Hello,Ester.
Sounds doable. Will you do it through the young girl's eyes, or will you be the 4th wall?
Will we hear her thoughts about the changes, from her child like perspective?
