@anniizk It is process cheese. In the US they call it American Cheese. A brand name is Velveeta. Many countries don't allow it to be called cheese because it has a lower dairy content. In Canada it is referred to as process cheese food. Just substitute more cheddar if you don't find it.
@dogggfight9999999999 Make sure you tell your grandma that and get her to show you how to make it her way so her recipe isn't lost. That will mean you always have great mac and cheese and fond memories of your grandma.
I tried this recipe. But i used croutons and mixed with the macaroni before i poured it in. and instead of using pepperoni i used crumbled bacon bits. turned out wonderfull.
Oh yeah! I'm making Macaroni and Cheese today at night for my family. This would be my first time ever cooking dinner for everyone at home. I'll be following that quick and simple recipe you showed us in the video but with a slight change in one of the ingredient which is cheese. I'm going to use mix cheddar and mozzarella cheese. But I will be cooking 400grams of elbow macaroni, which is only about 14oz. I know that It will affect the other amount of ingredients in making the roux sauce. Help!!
@Benzer995 A 400 gram box is close enough to a pound it should work out fine. It will just be a little cheesier. You should be able to use the same amount of cheeses, just use your choices. I'd use 2 cups of cheddar and 2 cups of mozzarella but that is my taste. I'd love to hear how it turns out!
velveeta isnt really needed, no. neither is placing it into the oven to "cook", for an extended period of time. everything is already cooked. put some cheddar and breadcrumbs on top, throw it under your oven broiler for a few minutes until it browns.
I have never cooked before but decided to learn and found this video. I followed the instructions and cooked my first meal today, which turned out excellent! You are a really great teacher! I will be looking at the other videos you have the next time I cook :)
You are so kind! Bill and I enjoy making these videos and love hearing how they turn out for people. Thanks for letting me know your experience and keep on cooking!
NO! You can use your favourite cheese and it will turn out great. I use processed cheese only because that is what I grew up with. I have made it with a combination of gruyere and edam (mmmm). You can also use mixtures of provolone and parmesan or all cheddar or even better, experiment and find a cheese combination you like. Experimenting is the best part of cooking!
Hi man! It looks so delicious! I want to make it.. I've never had Mac & Cheese (I'm from sweden). This video inspired me to do it! Thank you! I just had to subscribe! you're awesome!
Oo looks scrumptious! I'll have to try it out sometime! But I'm often too lazy to go through all this haha. By the way, I absolutely adore your oven mitts! Great video =)
Once again I enjoyed that and will definitely try it. You always have awesome retro music in the background. Making cooking videos is fun. I've been watching them on TV all my life (Urban Peasant was my favorite). It's nice to now be able to make our own. Thanks.
I have enjoyed your videos as well. You don't look old enough to be an Urban Peasant fan! As for the music, it looks like we both like music. Food & Music? I think their both sensual and go together.
Thanks for another interesting video. i like your version of macaroni, it looks delicious and i hope to try it soon. its odd hearing "girls just wanna have fun" in the background though. :) hope to see more soon
I heard cheddar, but what was the other cheese called?

Another thing you can do with this recipe (part before you add the cheese to the sauce) It's called
CREAMED BEEF ON TOAST (S.O.S.)
1 (3 or 4 oz.) pkg. sliced dried or smoked beef, chopped
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/3 c. milk
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
English muffin or toast
It was one of the favorite dishes growing up. I hope you can make a video fo it.

great video! do u have to bake it at the end??? or could u just eat the macaroni and cheese after u mix the two?
koolangeldude1 2 years ago
You could eat it without baking it and it would be good but it is better baked.
treasurer6 2 years ago
Great vid! Gonna experiment with this recipe :) Looks really delicious. So simple and yet I wouldn't figure it out myself. Thanks!
k3czup 2 years ago
I advice ya to pour melted butter on the bread crumbs before u put them on. There would be no need to take chunks.
Just an advice after watching many mac and cheese videos.
Is Velveeta great?
HKichen 3 years ago
Thanks for the suggestion.
As for Velveeta, by itself it isn't great but I like it in my Macaroni and Cheese because that is what I got as a kid.
treasurer6 3 years ago
oh yeah. and use cold milk and pam spray is actually olive oil based.

Bob's Mountain Chablis! Kidding around aside, a strong cheese flavour would go well with a full red. I'd suggest a Shiraz.
