  • Hearts pumping with a wild appreciation for this piece. True beauty here.

  • This is true. Producing content is not all fun and games, it requires an immense deal of thought and devotion. A creator puts himself in to every one of his creations. I applaud your dedication to your craft, Mr. Cohenism.

Have you thought about making a sequel to to the 'Tomorrow' video?

  • This is simply amazing! Great job man, I clicked subscribe within the first 30 seconds. I appreciate your ambition.

  • That was beautiful, sometimes creativity isn't about skill or perfection and it's not always about your vision becoming the end. You know the old saying "it's how you get there that matters." It's the flaws, the changes and the compromises that make a creation a creation and unlike anything else. Your videos are unlike anything else on youtube to begin with so I would say you should respect yourself as a creator. You've earned my attention to the subscribe button and every other member's <3.

  • I am in awe. What a beautiful creation you have presented. Thank you.

  • I watched this a while ago and I forgot to comment. I appreciate this video and your comments above

  • This is beautiful. Pure poetry.

  • Unbelievably beautiful, Jake. There's no way this is video is a terribly colossal heartbreak, because you've broken through this concept of paralytic creativity to deliver one of the truest testaments to the human condition as a medium of connecting to people across the world.

Putting oneself into something is always a risk...but you tell us that it's only by integrating our lives with our works can those works have the potential to be something ethereal. That's so fucking beautiful, man!

  • Jake, this movie=awesome! I'm a writer, and every time someone asks even the smallest question about a book, I cringe inwardly. Smile. And proceed to bare a piece of my soul. This vid says it all! Thanks for continuing to hand your works of art to us. We love you! Oh, and good job putting magicbeatbox's foot in their mouth... :)

  • I enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.

  • all your videos are amazing. and you are definitly handsome.

Keep filming. I feel blessed to watch your videos<3

  • Very well done. If anything it's a big encouragement to the rest of us that are creating. Thanks Jake! :)

  • I felt like i was just allowed into a snapshot of his life, so personal, so beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • That was very eloquently executed....and I couldn't help but notice your tags: "handsome devil". Terribly true.

  • @magicbeatbox

His talent is not wasted here. Jake touches so many people through Youtube, his videos are works of art that pull at The heartstrings. I'm not a filmaker, but I am a photographer, and the emotions he has displayed here have inspired me so much. You are so, so wrong, and I wish I could open your eyes to make you see what you're missing.

  • I've watched this a few times and it's astonishing. I love how personal this is; you have so much talent.

  • Beautiful

  • You inspire me so much, thank you.

  • we understand exactly the point of this video. We make films for fun and as a hobby. we only get about 300 views or so per video but it isn't about the views. Just wanted to say the beginning was perfect. Understand completely the whole thing about shaping the clay and it still isn't perfect to what your mind created. Deal with that with every video we make. Just wanted to say that we wish you a lot of success. Hopefully you can get a second to view our videos and tell us what you think.

  • I think you guys are misunderstanding @magicbeatbox. He was only making a suggestion. Regardless of whether or not you yourself would gain anything from film school, you have to admit that for most people it is a way of associating yourself with other like-minded film makers.

  • Great, True, and Very Helpful to me right now. I feel the exact same way. Thanks.

  • One time, I was a terribly colossal heartbreak.

  • You see? You have the cause of your problem right there. You said "ready for the internet". What's the point of doing internet videos? So you can be a fucking clown like RWJ or Freddie "Guns and Explosions" Wong so you can have 129879287345 views and troll comments?

Go to film school (you have plenty in USA), try to get on a real project. Break the barriers, do something different and leave youtube "canon 7D test", "cat video", "look at me I'm a retard", "random tutorial by 12 year old" fags!

  • @magicbeatbox You're making the mistake of assuming film school is the only way you can produce or get involved in film, and also that it even MATTERS if you've gone to film school. The fact of the matter is that is film school is only a tool, and you don't need it. It can even be a hindrance. Sir Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, and other well-known directors/actors/etc... didn't go to film school. So, take your rant elsewhere.

  • @Cohenism it was not a rant against you. I myself have not gone to film school and don't think I ever will, but for reasons of it being inaccessible where I live. I was merely pointing out that your abstract talent is wasted here. But do not make the mistake of dismissing film school entirely, it could teach you a sense of cinema culture beyond that established by directors such as the ones you mentioned, which could help you become a better filmmaker.

  • @magicbeatbox When you say "get on a real project", you're coming off condescending in saying that nothing I have done is real, nor could I possibly be part of a larger project independently without film school. Yes, it MAY help me become a better filmmaker, but the cost does not match the product. It's robbery of the worst kind. I am constantly educating myself on film theory, cinematography, editing techniques, equipment, and direction. I don't need a school, nor your suggestion.

  • @magicbeatbox Please stop trying to put Jake into a box. Your problem is that you're trying to climb into the box, while Jake is perfectly content with living outside of it. You told him to "break barriers" yet your advice on how to be different was to go to film school like everybody else...

  • @Cohenism i agree with you. also, the internet is the basis surrounding the entire thought of indie film making or indie photography. especially instant streaming that is our life. its how we bear our work.

  • @magicbeatbox Jerk. That was touching. Get a heart.

  • This is beautiful. And so so inspiring.

  • yeah, it is kind of a pain in the ass. but a rewarding one.

  • I'm in love with everything you do. Single handedly the only person on youtube I could watch all day and not only remain interested but be challenged to think radically and examine the true beauty of film making.

  • inspiring.

  • hi ethan

  • This was the best

  • Every word is truth. Couldn't say it better myself. Thanks @cohenism #Filmmaking

  • your eyes at 1:06 are how I imagine Augustus Waters's.

  • Well said, well said.

For what it's worth, I think you're an amazing filmmaker.

  • This is what I needed to show my 8 year old self and probably my teacher too... I remember so vividly having an idea, a clear vision of what I wanted to create, but being unable to do it with my limited vocabulary and poor hand-eye co-ordination. At eleven a teacher gave me enough courage to simply try, this changed me dramatically. It was a hard lesson to learn & I constantly re-learning it every time I start a new project.

  • Writing is like this too. Just like filmmaking. Though I think I've only ever really known Production.

  • Good luck.

  • This is why i got into film making in the first place! You sir are visionary and creative filmmaker who has inspired many and I thank you for inspiring me!

  • Wow. This seems ripped from the heart of every writer/director/filmaker/artist/creative person on the planet! Good stuff--this guy's got talent.

  • My god. You're good.

  • Jake sidewall is how I picture Peeta Mellark.

  • I love your message! It's very hard to put the feelings that come from filmmaking into words, but you did an excellent job!

  • i had to go to the dictionary like ten times dude. smh

  • ok, what camera do you use?

  • When this was over, the only thought in my head was "Shit, that was good."

Never give up, Jake. There are so many of us who appreciate what you do and you really have so much talent. I applaud you.

  • an inspiration for me. thank you. you just read my mind

  • Amazing. Speaks to me a lot!

I'm starting making films very soon aswell and this inspires me to do so :) Thanks!

  • Nice. I have to say, once you take enough hardcore beatings over your art, you stop caring what people think and its not terrifying to share it anymore, just fun. Hope you get to that point soon. It'll will be liberating for you when you do. Good luck with everything. :)

  • You inspire me. You make me want to go out and create something beautiful. Something that I can be proud enough to say "Yeah, I made that." Something that will move the viewer the way this video moved me.

  • You are a genious.

  • Damn, this is so true, I'm adding it to my list of videos to watch daily

  • ....can i just hug you?....

  • Absolutely beautiful and achingly true.

  • I feel the same way my friend!

  • This is precisely what I've been feeling the past year and a half of my life. Thanks for putting into words and ironically, video. I appreciate your dedication to your passion because it is very inspiring. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Now excuse me while I watch this video again and post it on my Twitter and Facebook.

  • Your voice sounds like a young Leonardo DiCaprio.

  • You make some of the best videos I've ever seen. Please don't let youtube commenters destroy your self confidence. They mean nothing in the end.

  • I always enjoy these. Hope this turned out the way you saw it in the first place.

  • this is how i feel about making music.

  • 2.29.....I WANT YOU <3

  • This is how I feel about my writing.

  • You're a real life Dr. Spencer Reid.

The older I get the more I like your videos because as a naive younger teen I could not appreciate this as much. <3

  • Wow that's really deep.

  • That was so incredibly beautiful.

  • This is so beautiful.

  • you're not a big jerk.

  • you have grown so much! we're so proud of you! keep on going!

  • Wow. This is powerful.

  • This is so inspiring, I'm glad I took the time to watch this and found you on here, you're too good for this website like many have probably told you by now, you are gonna do great things in filmmaking, I love that you put so much thought into this and truly believe in what you create, thank you for sharing this.

  • you...made me cry just now.

  • that was inspirational! thank god for people like you, I'm in the process of writing a new short, (a serious one for a change) and was having trouble until i saw this.

    absolutely brilliant

  • this, was beautiful, i was looking for something to inspire me to make something, and this did it, the best way to describe that is, eloquent.

you and people like you are what give me hope for independent filmmaking.

    keep on trucking!

  • hello.

  • *nods*

  • you sir, are a filmmaker.

  • Why is everyone being so censorious that they have to mention the chipping at clay? Clearly that's not the point of the video.

  • This is absolutely amazing, I love your videos so much. Keep up your wonderful work, even if it is colossal heartbreak.

  • Great video man! Don't listen to these tards who are so pedantic that they have to point out every single thing you say. I thought the video was beautiful and always love seeing videos from you. Keep it up :D

  • that was beautiful. i am speechless.

  • You are simply amazing at what you do my good sir.

  • Oh, love.

  • Inspirational. Beautiful. Not only are you a great film maker but a great writer.

  • Dude, you are amazing. I respect you so much you don't understand, and neither do I, just follow your heart and the rest will fall into place, I promise

  • Wow

  • I'm sorry but you don't chip away at clay. you mold clay. you chip away at marble or stone. most everything else was pretty clever, but please avoid personification.

  • smh at the people who are freaking out over the chipping clay analogy. If their minds weren't so literal and uncreative then maybe they would understand that the mistake of chipping clay is kind of what this video is about.

  • i feel like a lot of youtubers should see this. favorited.

  • You are amazing.

  • So incredibly accurate. And fantastic.

  • You are great Jake. You are a great, talented film maker. Don't let anyone tell you different!

  • Aside from the obvious chipping at clay comment I could make, this was wonderful. And I can relate completely. The metaphor of the newborn is particularly apt.

I'm gonna send this to some of my friends who don't really understand what it's like to create something like this. Thanks for saying what I was already going to. :)

  • to the chipping away at clay thing, just think of when someone says chipping away at some sort of work :p let's just say it's a saying, instead of a litural thing. :)

  • Just applied to Emerson for their filming major and I have to write and film a 5 to 7 minute film. I dont know if this scared me even more or encouraged me just the same.

  • & this is why I have about 4 serious projects taking dust in a notebook that I somehow don't have the courage to materialise and throw on the internet. but this was somehow very motivational, thank you for putting this out there :)

also, hi Sony Vegas, you old friennemy.

  • yes.

  • You're my motivation, Jake. Keep doing what you do!

I hope you won't be one of these incredible artists who get discovered and famous only after their death. The best usually end up like that. What a sad world.

  • There is Jake making a thoughful, personal video about what he feels when he is releasing a video to the public and there some people who have nothing better to do than picking on the clay metaphor. I really liked the video. Great work, very poetic.

  • have you read the picture of dorian gray? there's a painter who says almost the same thing about a certain painting of his: he put too much of himself in there. I also paint, and I knew what he meant. maybe that's the appeal of art in general. it's not only the work itself, but the creator in it.

  • Poetry! Very evocative. The reading carries it; the visuals contribute support to the message, but it's intensely verbal.

  • Beautiful.

  • This is one of the most beautifully told stories I have ever heard. Good on you JakeSnake!

  • Thumbs up if you saw this cuz of the badass Olan Rogers

  • This is beautiful. You just gained a subscriber. I love your perspective. It's your mindset that creates films that move people to their very core. Keep it up. You will change lives.

  • incredible <3

  • This was beautiful, it really spoke to me. I hope you get a lot more exposure on this site. Although you are "larger" than this. Thought you should know. :)

  • if it gets too much sometimes, just pretend you are not really a film maker. you are actually an astronaut or whatever... and the script is your space shuttle, and the camera your space suit.. etc. you get the gist. xD we all do the same sh8t in life...just each with different tools.

  • I mourned for my creative soul many years ago. Seeing this makes me happy I let it go quietly. I don't have the fight in me like you have to create.

  • If only I had a way with words that you have, could I then begin to describe how beautiful this is. Incredible. Just incredible.

  • What you've created is so beautiful, and you're honestly an amazing individual.

  • Your good, so good at expressing your self. I hope as you mature you will find much joy in your creations and learn that the path to perfection is paved with compromises and insecurity. And maybe you will never have perfection but promise me you will have joy in your journey

  • Your good, so good at expressing your self. I hope as you mature you will find much joy in your creations and learn that the path to perfection is paved with compromises and insecurity. And maybe you will never have perfection but promise me you will have joy in your journey

  • Your good, so good at expressing your self. I hope as you mature you will find much joy in your creations and learn that the path to perfection is paved with compromises and insecurity. And maybe you will never have perfection but promise me you will have joy in your journey

  • I am so jealous of your creations and of the potential you have, as it is infinite and you are only going to exc
