I just completely wasted 2 minutes and 44 seconds of my life watching a a geico caveman hate on a movie that he went and saw with his mom... holy shit anyone feeling down about there lifes just think how this dude feels.
Amen brother. It was my exact same reaction. I loved Transformers growing up, I would watch it whenever it was on. Even watched Beast Wars and Beast Machines when those came out many years later. Then I saw the teaser trailer for a Transformers movie 'YESSSSSSS!' Then I saw in the credits 'Directed by Michael Bay' 'OH FUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!' I knew it was going to be total shit, And indeed it was..... I feel your pain
I liked the movies. And as a child I was all about TF. the worst day of my life was when i left my G1 Optimus Prime at day care. So all I had left was the Trailer. lol. But Michael Bay is a Douch. But the movie had a lot of awesome action fighting scenes. I see my kids loving the same characters I grew up with. Its kinda cool. I know TF will never be as cool or as real as it was for our generation but at least the Transformers can be enjoyed by the next generation in its own way.
You know who's an awesome director just like Michael Bay? Uwe Boll. They should team up and make a movie together. Keanu Reeves could be the main actor.
You think its hot in your apartment now...just wait until judgement day, then you'll really feel the heat.
That is unless of course you finally see the error of your ways which The Atheist Antitdote has been trying to point out to you. Then you can finally get some air con!
I have to say I agree with you tooltime. I didn't hate the first movie. It wasn't all it could have been, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. And after all the Marvel movies I've seen, I've come to accept that movie adaptations just can't live up to my expectations.
However, I've just seen Revenge of the Fallen and it was horrible. They ruined the characters they set up in the first one, added in new characters that were terrible, and the only jokes in the movie were toilet humour. wtf?
So true. I came out of the movie thinking it was just...well...ok. The only impressive parts of the film were the visuals and special effects which are almost stereotypical with Michael Bay's films. Fire Michael Bay! Give control of the movies to Steven Spielberg. He'd do a better job and he'd actually do his research.
Damn! I loved that movie. I went into the Theater hoping to see Autobots kicking Decepticons asses. I was not disappointed. Sure, he may not have a grasp on characters or depth, but he can create some amazing battles. That's all I really wanted. Maybe he should just write the action and not take on the director job. I knew you would hate it!!! I don't know, I liked it......
Everyone keeps saying that the critics are wrong and that the sales for the movie prove that. I beg to differ. You know what else was a runaway hit when it came out? Ghostbusters II, a movie which is now reviled, since it no longer has the benefit of nostalgia to get people to watch it.
Mark my words, Revenge Of The Fallen is a flash-in-the-pan success, and when we're two or three years out from this, the nostalgia junkies will start changing their tune.
You have fallen prey to the childhood ruination fallacy. A movie is not capable of ruining your childhood; if you see a movie relating to your childhood, it only ruins your adulthood.
And seriously, why is your childhood entirely based on Transformers?
The transformers movie sucked. Transformers is about the fucking transformers--the humans are an after thought. But that damn movie was fucking centered around a dorky human boy getting some pussy.
I remember when Vhs players would wreck tapes as well. I think back in those years. My parents went through about three or more players in that era. Of Vcrs eating tapes and stuff. I would watch the show Transformers on tv as well. Along with a number of other shows. My personal favorite character fromt he series was Starscream. I just have always liked these villains. That aren't all one dimensional. With just a set of very predictable objectives. Conflicted villains are just awesome.
The one bit of geek consolation that I could offer you is that Bay has demonstrated and solidified the marketability of the Transformers licence. This almost guaranties that at some point in the future their will a "rebooting" of th franchise.
I just read a recent review of Transformers 2. It read, "watching this film was like watching paint dry while being hit over the head with a frying pan." Sound about right.
Transformers was just a teen romance with giant robots plugged into it...2nd one doesn't look much better. I mean, I remember some interview about guys talking about "character rivalry between Megatron and Starscream", I saw the movie, and they both had like...3 lines each in the entire movie...
the only way to watch the first movie is to fast forward during the stupid human scenes and just get to the robot parts. the movie won't be too coherent either way. Peter's right - Michael Bay was the wrong guy to do these films.
Jeez, does anyone else accidentally type "tootime" instead of "tooltime" when searching? I see one person below me who does. Call me immature, but every time I do, I crack up because it says "toot". o_0
You don't look like it's 90 degrees. You looked showered and clean and happy and healthy. Thanks for showing your tat...reminds me of when you said you did a recent blogtv shirtless and so I went to blogtv for the first time and - no shirtless Peter. Just 2 people in divided frames talking at the same damn time without knowing it. You've suddenly become a tease.
I don't think anyone sincerely goes to see a movie about robot aliens based on a toy and expects to see high art. The transformers are just a vessel for a film to be made about cool explosions and crazy special effects. I just don't get it. I think Michael Bay is a pretty good guy, eh uses lens flare and doesnt afraid of anything.
If you are going to play South Park clip, you should have also mentioned the one with saving movies from their directors. Maybe you need to save Transformers from Michael Bay.
I am not a Transformers fan, but I can see what you mean. I am actually a fan of Dragonball, and I did not bother to see the movie because it looks like a bad movie. I guess Hollywood does this too all movies. I guess it's only a movie, and the important thing is that they make money. I guess it is just a way to appeal to a new audience, but I do not know much of the movie industry.
yeeeeeeeeeees tooltime!!!!!!! finally someone who agrees the michael Bay sucks. The movie litterally 2 hours of explosions and 30 mins of the mom getting high.
I saw the Transformers sequel at the midnight showing (not because I was excited to see it, but because I was asked to go), It was horrible, not nearly as bad as the X-Men Origins movie, but horrible nonetheless.
I had a very similar reaction to the idea that JJ Abrams was going to do Star Trek. I wasn't gonna watch it, I got talked into going to see it and it sucked really bad, now everyone is raving about it and I'm like nooo it's bad, don't you understand, he's the guy who did Lost, it's bad! No one gets it, but hey...ya Trek some you Transform some ;)
Peter, I disagree with your take on transformers...kinda. And here's why. I actually think the good parts of the first movie (which was offensively stupid) were whenever things we spinning around and blowing up everywhere -- those were actually entertaining scenes. My problem with the first movie is that a more appropriate title would have been:
Shia LaBeouf Gets Laid -- with special guest stars The Transformers.
you actually hit the nail on the head. shit blowing up is fine, but at least have SOME substance behind it.
also, I hate Shia LaBeouf and I have no idea why he is getting so many high profile roles. his romance with Fox was so fucking cliche it hurt to watch.
I like Shia from the first movie, but when megan foxx's character got into shia, his acting got worst and worst...especially when bumblebee was being captured by the government.
"Transformers 2 is regarded by many to be the result of the biggest collaboration between movie makers and the military in terms of Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines. The military equipment used for this huge project is enormous, and includes 2 A-10 Thunderbolt II jets, 6 F-16, 10 armoured Humvees, a parachute team, 4 tanks, 2 missile-launcher vehicles, and 2 armoured personnel carriers."
I got the feeling during the first film that I was watching a two hour Army commercial.
I wasn't familiar with the name, but I looked him up and found he did "Armageddon". That was about the worst movie I ever saw. It made no sense. If they had broken out in dance while eating pancakes on a stick, it would have made more sense.
On the other hand, he did make "The Island" which I enjoyed.
When I went to sony picture studios Someone told me that they focus more on selling the movie to a big audience, which means lots of editing and cutting. Big budget movies will usually will try to score at least a PG-13 rating.
I actually went to see the movie at midnight. It was pretty good actually, and the showing filled 14 theaters. Whether you want to see it or not is your decision though.
Yeah, the fanboys of the movie always try to make the movie seem like a masterpiece of this generation. The sad part is every time you bring up how the critics thought of it all they say is "They hate him cause he make money!"
rofl copter! Ima still go see it though. Did anyone ever watch Beast Wars? I'm pretty sure it was like A Transformers rip-off or side-series. I likeded it
cause the masses flock to shiny explosions that lack any reason for being there and add nothing to the overall story. for every explosion, money is save on story writing.

-_- i wish there were more movies that focused on stories. that had some depth, something to think about after the movie. . . which is really lacking in movies now. cause now they are "mostly about action"
Better development....but it's perfect. The story didn't change and it makes perfect sence (leaving a side the many questions of time travel) So what would have been better? o.o
I HAD THE SAME REACTION TO THE MOVIE! When I heard a commercial for the second one, I said it would be like the first one, just with EVEN MORE: **two minutes of flailing arms with sounds of gunfire, explosions**.
I thought Michael Bay did a great job with the first Transformers movie. I don't know why people are so critical of his rendition of the Transformers? Its almost as if all the critics of the 1st and second movie are looking for more substance. It is, after all, a movie based on a cartoon about morphing robots, so how much substance do you expect it to have? I go into the movie expecting it to mainly consist of big explosions and special effects. And it delivers on that expectation
I love films with a passion, and as much as I do love films like '12 angry men', 'Judgement at Nuremburg' and 'Das Boot', I also like big, dumb, stupid action films, and Michael Bay is good at delivering that.
Trasnformers 2 was pretty crap though. Still, it was 'To kill a mockingbird' compared to Indiana Jones 4 *shudder*.
As much as I hate Michael Bay, I thought the first Transformers movie was alright, mainly because they got the original voice actor for Optimus Prime and it made me feel like a kid. And Transformers doesn't really make sense in the cartoon anyway. However from what I've heard of the sequel, I'm prepared for massive disappointment.
Bay thinks getting his shots done fast is a plus. Eh, it just creates confusing messes that only barely convey what they're meant to. Do your homework Bay. Make a shot list that actually shows what the fuck is going on clearly. This is the shit they teach kids in film school like the first day, and he fucking ignores it.
shiah lebuff and michael bay are douche bags of the highest caliber. I cant see shiah without thinking about him swinging on vines to catch up with a speeding car, with this army of loyal monkey soldiers that he just met.
I was sceptical to even watch the movie, then the guy at the local dvd store said it was better than he'd thought. Really good actually. So I watched it and now I never ever trust his opinion again! Glad I at least didn't buy it.
you are freaking gorgeous.

Charlymaumushi 2 years ago
T-4 needed better development, and the writing was a bit off.
Stitchman3875 2 years ago
T4 is better than T2 ... I mean terminator 4 is better than Transformers 2
PoetryRocksAlot 2 years ago
I'm about to see Transformers 2. Scale of 1-10, 10 being great, how do you rate it?
Stitchman3875 2 years ago
Dear stichman, I can't actually rate it, I saw a bootleg quality of the video and the sound was out of sync....
The action was certaintly not as good as T4....and the T4 i saw was bootleg quality as well.
Also when I watch bootleg quality videos I usually go to the theaters afterwards to watch it.
But if you want me to compare it to a bootleg T4 ....then Transformers 2 storyline and script dialogue is 4/10
The action in Transformers 2 compared to T4 is 7/10
PoetryRocksAlot 2 years ago
Futhermore, when I saw T4's bootleg, I didn't like it. But when I went to movies and watch T4, i liked it better.
Therefore the score for Transformers would be:
Script: 5/10
and Action: 8/10
PoetryRocksAlot 2 years ago
OK, Thanks. I'll go see it.
Stitchman3875 2 years ago
Better development....but it's perfect. The story didn't change and it makes perfect sence (leaving a side the many questions of time travel) So what would have been better? o.o
Charlymaumushi 2 years ago
Yes, I can understand the disapointment. You see characters, and a story, Michael Bay sees collisions. LOL

I HAD THE SAME REACTION TO THE MOVIE! When I heard a commercial for the second one, I said it would be like the first one, just with EVEN MORE: **two minutes of flailing arms with sounds of gunfire, explosions**.
Great minds think alike!

You have expressed my EXACT feelings on Transformers in general and the recent movies.

Which South Park episode is that snippet from?

I thought the first transformers movie was awful.
MICHAEL BAY DIRECTS
A NEW FILM
"SCARIEST SHIT THAT EXPLODES AND IS ON FIRE, WITH LASERS"
Mjhavok 2 years ago

I thought Transformers was the least shit of Michael Bay's movies. I know that isn't saying much. I *slightly* liked it.

Censeo 2 years ago
Lol there was a lot of effects and explosions but I don't think they over did them.
The only thing I didn't like about the film was some parts of the plot were a little stuiped.
leejw00t354 2 years ago
If michael bay didn't do a show that relied on fancy looking things like huge robots, he knew his next film would blow ass.
Michael Bay is there for jewgold.
RyunSharp 2 years ago
Michael Bay more like melted and blew his toys up with home made explosives because he thought it would be awesome.
