I saw this movie in a point of of my life where i thought I couldnt get freaked out by horror movies anymore I think I was 10 and by then I had seen all the best but this movie f'd with my head.
I love this scene, but Carpenter really drops the ball by not making it a single shot. By cutting away to a closeup of the guy, it becomes more pedestrian than it should.
This is one of Carpenter's real gems. It is terribly underrated. I can't believe it was a financial flop, but then so was The Thing. This movie is well written and superbly directed. It's also scary. I wish Carpenter would make more films like this. I heard the title of his next movie is The Psychopath, so I'm hopeful.

How many stories are written about a writer who's book comes to life? Thousands?

You can't even hear the music with all the sound effects. What are you talking about?

It would've been better if it was all one shot until he broke through the window. It would've added to the suspense.
