In the 90's it became cool for musicians to be "down-to-earth", but even that is an act. Yngwie's style fits his passion and enthusiasm. Maybe that's why i don't put him in the Glam category.

The main thing i found "cheesy" about this was not in the music, but more in the performance itself. The faces Yng makes, the way he moves around, and the overall production just felt a bit cheesy to me. Granted, most things from the 80's come across that way.

Since the 1990 he grew his hair longer and wore it flatter, almost hippyish (especially with the John Lennon glasses) and adopted kind of a Jimmy Page/Howard Stern look. I don't consider him "stuck in the 80's" like so many say. But a bit of humility would serve him well. Especially these days.
