Real talent! At a time when Countdown and the rest of those imbeciles from mainstream tv / radio were focused on mediocre BS and crap like Cold Chisel and the rest of those Bogan idiots, let us for not forget that the Riptides and otehr bands made life so much fun. Not everybody in Australia is a bogan, moran and suburban cretin!
Give it too em Marta! There's more to Australian 80's music than Khe Sanh. I'll be seeing the Riptides at UQ tomorrow and I'm sure they'll still be great =)
I caught these guys at Griffith University O week gig in 88. I remember sharing special cigarettes with the lads between sets. Oh hang on we didn't do that in QLD back then. Opps!!!!!!!
@LOVEYOUSHORTTIME Countdown song list was dominated by record companies who all paid that fat ponce money to play THEIR records. Anyone independent was crushed or just ignored. How I look forward to dancing on the grave of that imbecile with the wig!
Jaysus - recorded at QIT's basically classical studio in discrete "downtime" for David Darling's FLAT records and with a 4ZZZ jock as 'producer', and now it's immortalised for the entire world on bloody YOUTube. Modern lfe just keeps getting stranger and stranger . . . And what a stonkin' cowbell-track . . . ! Oh, yeeaaahhhhhh . . .
What a find - brilliant! So do tell the story re posting this clip, or are you referring to Pig City? I'd love to know where Andrew, Dennis and Scott ended up. Thanks again.
this is so good that it's almost disgusting. what a brilliant band
