That's the turbo you're hearing from the 260 HP GM Ecotech engine. This car uses the gas engine when you want to accelerate really fast (408 BHP) . Car has 2 modes all electric (0-60 8 sec), and elec+gas (0-60 6 sec)
The Crown Prince of Denmark has actually ordered a Karma, and during COP15 here in Copenhagen, Fisker has lent him a pre-production version wich he has been showing off. I can verify that the car makes absolutely no sound whatsoever, and looks stunning.
I`ve been kinda wondering why it makes that kind of sound. There`s nothing in that car that should sound like that. But reading the comments here I have understood that there is actually speakers outside of the car making that sound? Is that correct?
hope this actually goes into production.. cant help thinking most of these companies survive on grants and investments until the money runs out with just 4 cars built.
These guys are backed by Kliner and perkins (backed up google and amazon, not too mention Al Gore is on their committee)... so the money to produce this car (and the Karma S) is there... they just need to get approved by the FED... they get approved by the Fed and they will be set
I'm confident its real. Henrik Fisker designed the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8. Thomas Fritz is a veteran as well, big shot engineer from BMW. They have their own building in Pontiac housing 250 engineers, a supply agreement with GM, and hundred$ of millionS from investment firms.
Got a great email from them last week, all the tech specs etc. and an awesome photo of a chromed one...I can't show it you though as I would have to kill you afterwards!! Carlover72 knows what I am talkin about!
Regardless, in-wheel motors is a great concept and I hope Kama develops them because by eliminating the transition, drive lines and differentials, you reduce friction buy 6%. That means better acceleration, energy economy and range. Eliminating these heavy rotating drive components will reduce the weight of the car and free up a lot of space too, thereby possibly increasing the range a lot more from a lighter more nimble car.
WOW! THat thing is Amazing!!!! I cant wait til I can get my hands on one. Its sounds better than the Batmobile. The Karma was only announced in January too so they've gotten here in only 4 months. Incredible. This IS the future.
Nice camera work Cloverfield!
