Yo in NYC this album was just as large as Dre and Snoop. This album got bootlegged like a mofo though. They shoulda sold triple platinum of this classic album.
I didn't know who these dudes were 'til I bought this cassette single (yes, cassette single). But man, I'm glad I did cuz this was a jam. In fact the flip side of this single had another track that was good too. I think it was called "Last Call" or sumthin like that
This was the era when West coast rap still brought something to the table substantial. This is a classic album, a party album, however rooted in the gritty King Tee inception. J Ro was a wicked lyricist that could and probably can still hang with the best ever... It takes a trained ear, however he could (and probably still can) have battled Keith Murray with that style... and won. . . . and that's saying something.
This is from the golden era, if you like this stuff you should like stetsasonic "talkin' all that jazz" Old school is so much better than the crap they play on the radio.
Wasn't this single on a soundtrack or somethin else besides the album? I KNOW this song, but don't think I ever bought their album. Thought I heard it on The Show or Friday, but this track wasn't on either.
hip hop was truly golden back then. but it went from gold to platinum. but we must pay homage to this because there would be no today if it weren't for yesterday.
All of their albums should've went platinum. Especially, this one. This is up there with the best, Alkaholics, Souls of Mischief. Last Call, Last Call, Last call for Alkahol. At 2 your through. I LOVE IT.
Back in the day when I was young - I'm not a kid anymore. But some days I sit & wish I was a kid again. Remember when a 32oz would do it for ya? Not anymore, dude. Bottlez...
