It should restart automatically, I don't see how that's managed to occur,reboot your phone and if that doesn't work, try re-installing the update again if you still can't access the notification bar.

AFTER UPDATING, WILL IT RESTART AUTOMATICALLY? MINE GOES OFF AFTER UPDATING. THEN I NEED TO START THE DEVICE. THEN AFTER, I DONT EVEN SEE THE NOTIFICATION BAR.

ANY IDEA ?

Thanks for the valuable info.

I would like to have a further assistance form you in regards of voip call. Since i have installed CSSU, i am not able to do VOIP calls. there is no option seen in the contacts which used to be before. Now only mesg option indiactes in the contact detail.

Can you let me know how to deal with it any other solution.

@andru2220 thanks, aha as long as you got it working it's all good.

I believe only certain applications are compatible with portrait mode, I believe settings and contacts are. Try them by closing the slide and holding the phone in portrait (obviously) with the "A" of "NOKIA" facing towards the floor.

ohh man you are a genius i tried how to work it out for 4 hours, with your video i've done it in 10 minuits (because my n900 is twice slower)

@extremeluffy go onto your homescreen and tap the time, you should see at the bottom of the options a "auto-lock orientation" option, make sure it's not locked and it's on auto rotation enabled. when you're on the menu, make sure that the slide is closed and your N900 is in portrait mode, with the "A" for "Nokia" facing towards the floor

hi....i have followed step by step and successfully installed the CSSU but nothing new happen on my N900 like menu in potrait mode...why?

@asbn369 I haven't noticed anything about battery life for better or for worse, I'd say the battery life is the same as without the update however the update does bring key features required for the N900.

can we lock the rotation? for example.. i want to use only portrait mod..

@Proton94 yeah you can, if you go to the homescreen, tap the status bar where it has the time, battery life and signal strength etc, near the bottom you'll see "orientation lock".

However you can only lock it to landscape mode, not portrait...

i downloaded yesterday... & the version is 20.2010.30-2maemo16.8... is this the latest version? & is it stable?

I have version 20.2010.36-2maemo16.8 installed, I'm pretty sure this is the latest version. The one I have is definately stable, no problems or hitches from when I have used it.

If you have anything in particular to do with the N900 and you want a video made, let me know.

@Proton94 err I have no idea, these things take time to develop and ensure they're stable, portrait mode may be avaiilable for these applications in a future release.

I had a same problem while installation, it was asking me "To update your device to this version you must use Nokia PC suit on your PC..."

I uninstalled "PyQt4 Full Install" app and tried to update it again... worked for me... hehe... it was conflicting with other app updates also (e.g. libqtm...) updated all now. Thanks a lot asiim, now i can enjoy my N900 :-)

After installation and when it comes to the update software part

maemo update says:

"To update this device to this version you must use Nokia PC suit on your PC..."

the only button in this message is 'Create backup"

whats should I do ????

It depends on what you want tbh. The N900 does offer openess like Android but obviously it lacks in things like games and a wide variety of applications.

So yeah, it depends on what you want from the phone mate.
