How To Drain an RV Sewage Tank

I watched some guy empty out his "black water" sewage tank straight into a storm drain yesterday, it was round the back of the industrial estate he probably thought there was no-one around to watch him, spent a good 5 minutes emptying the tank, left a brown tide mark several feet around the drain, absolutely disgusting. I wish I'd gotten his number plate I'd have reported him for sure.

Overly dramatic video. He did do it in the correct order. Empty the black water first, then empty the grey water. The soapy grey water will rinse the sewer hose out. I'd open the black water valve back up and flush the can a few times to rinse the tank.

I helped hook up a rented Class C motor home once. One thing I could tell you is always make sure the handle for the black tank dump valve is pushed in before you take the cap off the outlet to connect the sewer hose !

Needless to say, we made a big mess at the dump station and the whole place stank.

Wow dude... I would understand the whole set of reactions if you just had to take the pipe out and put it one of those giant tanks to empty out... but with the RV already connected to ground sewage lines from the looks of it, why not have the ports open at all times????? As long as your not leaving or going anywhere, it wouldn't hurt anything. You would just close it when the RV drives off.
