  • will this be playable on an iMac early 2009 with 9400m Nvidia, 4GB and 2.66GHZ?

  • where can i get oblivion? need it!!

  • wich games can i play in my aluminium macbook of 2 Ghz???????????????

  • the framerate is low. maybe Apple should upgrade to integrated graphics. (Intel Sandy Bridge)

  • so you are playing on a macbook but with vista installed? i was wondering if you could install it directly on mac os x.

  • @AbysoulKage You can for free now.

  • FRAPS FAGGOT. OH WAIT YOUR ON A MAC

  • That looks like the MBP, am I wrong?

  • Macgamers.....when will I ever learn

  • @WhyIDrum never cuz mac is awesome in my opinion

  • i have the same macbook pro as yours with the 9400 m nividia chip but with a 2.0 ghz. my game loaded the intro scene but when i got to character creation, there was no character there, just a dark screen. there were the words and menu stuff though. did you have the same problem? and if you did, how did you solve it. please do tell.

  • @maxten I bought a PC.

  • @FriendlySoul Good choice, but watch out for viruses. they will cut off your internet and paralyze your pc.

  • @maxten Those were the olden days. You dont get many virus's these days, i havent got one in the last 3-4 years. I still have my 5 year old laptop as well as a Pc running without any anti-virus. (actually i think its got the Microsoft default one)

Viruses are history, why break their computer instead let them go online and attempt Internet fraud. There is a lot of money in there!

  • @FriendlySoul viruses history? no way, the internet war has only begun. the future will be full of sophisticated attacks by hackers. the whole world will one day go online. this virus thing has only started. and who's on the offensive right now? China.

  • i have the exact same macbook but even if i lower everything down, tf2 is still unplayable. help!

  • @boorch i'm talking about the mac os x version released nowadays btw, runs extremely fine in bootcamp.

  • How is your config and your average FPS rate on TF2? (type cl_showfps 2 in console for it) Thanks!

  • Why do you keep saying that what Apple & Nvidia did is very impressive? What exactly did Apple do? They put computers together and create software. Putting a computer together hardly deserves credit and you're not using the software.

The credit should mainly go to Intel and Nvidia.

Anyway thanks for the video, just have to check out how this will run with a dual atom system (Asus Eee 1201n)

  • hey this is an awesome video - does anyone know how well this would work with parallels or vmware? i'm really interested in oblivion, but i was wondering whether i only had a good option with bootcamp or whether there is another viable option.

    thanks in advance :)

  • hey, codesamurai, u probs wont reply to this but please do... are you running this directly on snow leopard?

or do i have to install xp on a seperate partition or something?

  • @GunsNSunflowers did you get an answer to this? I'm wondering the same thing. Do we need to run bootcamp and install windows?

  • That's what you need to do (bootcamp + windows). Oblivion might run in WINE - I've had it run on Linux before - but the experience wasn't as good as native Windows.

  • does your macbook do the whirling sound when running such graphic intense programs?

  • also what did you use to install windows?

  • Comment removed

  • you can use the actual windows xp (or vista) installation cd.

  • bootcamp

  • hey can you use net_graph to see what the actual fps is? thx lots

  • So are these running straight of the max os leopard. I have a 13" mac book pro, wondering if its worth buying games, i dont want lag.

  • i gotta question. will this play on the new improved regular MacBook?

  • Comment removed

  • yes

  • Does the fan go wild when this thing's running, though?

  • i have X16 anti-aliasing, and mat_picmip -10

that is nothing NOTHING I SAY

  • Thanks for this! Nice to know I'll get to play some TF2 with my MacBook!

  • what game should i get? tf2 or oblivion

  • they both kick ass

  • I am thinking about buying a 13.3 inch Macbook pro. It has a dual core 2.26 ghz processor. Will it be able to run TF2 like it is in this video? thsi is my first Mac so I just wanted to make sure.

  • yes they definitely will be able

  • grrr this is annoying, mine doesnt look as good as yours at all, on 1280 by 800, i get very late texture loading, i can see a mountain with blocky textures and no ruins or buildings as you step closer than everything pops out, i konw you arent gonna reply here, but anyone have any ideas to help me?

  • Pretty solid for a low end gfx card I must say. My friend is getting his today, he should be happy to see this game runs well and that he can play the game with me now

  • what settings are you using on the macbook?

  • is it the 256 or 512mb 9400m?

  • Hah, I have that same camera.

  • boot camp?

  • yes

  • hey guys how about the ASUS PRO 61 SL

    it has a core2 duo T6400 2x2ghz and 4 gb ram and a ATI HD 4570 with 512 MB

you think its enough too for playing Wotlk ?

  • Your like 4x over qualified for the game. WOTLK doesnt take that high of specs.

  • I have that mac book too but it definately is no gaming machine, you can get a windows notebook which is double the speed for the same money!

  • Do You think that 4GB model would handle the grass better? (I mean on better FPS ratio)

And what makes the Vista better for games than XP? - most of games have lower requirements for XP...

  • Its like every window you open, if its control panel or anything it will take 2 gigs of ram for vista and xp only takes 1 gig for it. I have vista and I think xp is a little stronger because everytime I close fallout 3 I have to go to Alt Control delete and close it for there because it freezes.

  • thats gotta be a low framerate on the camera! i refuse not to believe you when youre saying that a macbook eat's TF2 alive...

  • you do realize that PC stands for Personal computer, and not for windows machine, and that all macs are actually considered personal computers.... right?

  • you realize all new macs can play all games on the market at alest high graphics. some more.

  • mac laptops run games better than most windows laptops... and are cheaper vs performance

  • thats definately wrong

  • Well most macs only come with 1 to 2 gigs of ram and a processor of about 2.0 ghz which most windows have either 4-6 gigs of ram and either a 2.6 ghz processor or a 2.4 ghz quad core, which the only the $3000 dollar mac has. Macs are unable to hold games as smoothly because of their weaker graphix cards and the reason that they are using boot camp which makes game specs a little higher. If your mac has 1 gigs of ram you can only use about half of the graphix cards full potential.

  • spam is cool dog222

  • that's not true at all dude, i don't own any mac products but you're just talking crap, you can buy a 2.56GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM 9400m macbook pro for around £1000, and there sure as hell aren't many pc's out there that have 5-6GB of ram in them standard. and there's only one mac product left that has as little as 1GB ram in it, and it costs under £500. get your facts straight.

  • uh dude you can get up to 8gb ram.

  • no thats only on the macbook pros

  • uh yeah, where in the comment did i say you couldn't buy 8GB? unfortunately if you want those 4GB more, it won't cost you £1000 (which is what i was talking about), it'll cost you £1800, which is £200 per GB which is for brain-dead morons.

  • Well that you should probably get rid of those 8gigs man. hahaha

  • was that you shooting for an insult because you're all defensive cause you can't read?

  • no i can read you are just an idiot.

  • ouch, my feelings. go and practice insulting trees and see if you can work on it, cause it's dire

  • I am not trying to insult you dick. In fact I am not eve trying. I am acctualy watching a movie so go stfu

  • haha, practice makes perfect

  • wow you are jackass. Can I have your home adress?

  • wow indeed, you HAVE been practising, keep it up

  • No seriously what's your adress?

"i'm a baha'i and as such i don't drink or smoke and never will"

    So you don't smoke weed?

  • oh right, my address, yes sorry, that'll be:

    123 My House

    MindYourOwnBusinessVille

    Republic of Awesome

    HomeCountrytopia

no actually i don't smoke weed because i'm a baha'i, look it up on bahai(dot)org

  • Are you fucking kidding me? no weed? seriously? wow man.

By the way you think of yourself too high. Republic of awesome? wow man you got so really big issues with overly high self esteem. I guess that's what makes you a jack ass.

  • hey you know if your going to show gameplay videos on your computer of these two you could maybe set the video camra on sumthing, but high enough were it will show the whole screen and you can see. thats wat i would do

  • also, how did you get oblivion on your mac, did you buy the game(disc, download) or did you get it for free, like a torrent or something, i am getting a mac and i really want oblivion

  • Download Bootcamp on Apple site = THE software that allows you to install Windows on your Mac! Note: your Mac has to have a Intel Processor.

    Enjoy

  • when playing games on a mac, can you guy a special controller, or do you use the buttons

  • Sorry if you've already been asked this question but, How many gigs of RAM are you running? Just out of curiousity since I'm planning on buying the 2.4 Ghz with 4 gigs or RAM.

  • i was actualy thinking of buying a mac laptop, great laptops, great specs.

but untill i saw the price and the limitations of mac osx (yes i know i can dual boot, but it will take to much time and i could use that time else ware).

dam i never knew the mac book can play that with thoes setings. wow.

  • What r u using to run this

  • ???

  • Limitations? As opposed to Windows or Linux? Where the hell did you read that? Mac OS X is the best OS out there...

  • ive used the mac OSX operating system. it was great, i used leopard, it was great, fast, but, so many limitations on what it can do (without dual booting/virtual pc).

(i done know how much stuff you can see on a mac, so corect me if needed).

i always like to see how much RAM im using. there is NO WAY to see how much ram i was using so i can close unwanted programs, processes, ect.

Im a Gamer. i play ALL consoles and PC games. i could dual boot, but to much time tooken for doing that.

  • also, look at the keyboard. it looks good, BUT im a Lefty PC gamer (uses mouse on left hand and arrow keys on right hand). thoes keys are SO DAMN SMALL.

i could plug in a USB keyboard, but thats 1-2 on thoes macbooks. then i plug in my USB headset and mouse.

  • last: i admit the hardware in thoes macs are great, some of the best ive seen, but the MAC OSX OS dosent get to me, the keyboard, the touchpad mouse 1 buttion (what the hell?)

im not geting a mac anytime soon. one day i will, but i dont know when.

sorry for long response lol. 500 charicter limit not so good.

  • world of goo, epic game.

  • Code samurai i just saw ur gaming thread and i want to know... what drivers are u using??

  • Oblivio runs laggy on my macbook, I dont know why =( HELP

  • fixed, just tuned up my windows and now I can play it on High :D

  • exactly what do u mean by tuning up your windows... i run cod 4 a bit laggy

  • Search in google : "Improve Oblivion" and click the first link, I also used a program called Tune Up 2007, that makes a lot of diference

  • hey thanks for the info do u use XP or Vista? and if its not to much can u tell me the drivers that u r using

  • XP, mmm the drivers? I installed the drivers that come in the Mac OS X Disc

  • 4gb RAM?

  • ...these games only need 512mb to run...so his 2gb, which he might have, is enough

  • oh really. i didnt know that

well the 4gb ram would just help it be more smooth.

  • it could run them smoother yes...but that wasnt the point here, he has the stock one with 2GB, as we are to assume.

  • dude, that is absolutely not true. 1gb is the minimum. any person with any experience with games knows that just because the box says 512mb doesn't mean it's true. 1gb is basically the minimum for all new games.

  • oblivion on win XP SP3 via bootcamp is ALOT better

  • Is it hard to put windows on a macbook? and do you think the 2.0 ghz macbook aluminum would run oblivion on med low ish graphics? cause I don't wanna spend $1,700 on a macbook when I can downgrade just a bit and spend $1,100

  • I play Oblivion on high on my 2.0 Aluminium Macbook =D

  • Hey, can you try turning off VSync, and leave the anti aliasing and filtering mode at the lowest settings (those settings will drop your framerates, especially on a integrated card) . Now leave all the texture, model, and other settings enabled on high. Whats your new average, highest, and lowest fps?

  • I've been trying to find how the Geforce 9400M compares to my current Radeon X1650PRO...does anyone have a rough estimate? i couldn't bear buying a new computer with a graphics chip slower than one i bought years ago :)

  • Does anyone know how Company of heroes runs on this???

    On the 2.0 ghz version.

  • lol how many MB's is this video? it takes hours to stream in high quality :P

  • Ever heard of a tripood?

    ^^That is not a typo.

  • It's not a typo? Do you know how to spell then? Tripod. Tripood? You poo'd yourself three times?

  • No, it's not. Yes, i know how to spell. Yes, Tripood. I was simply asking the video poster if he has ever heard of a triPOOD. TriPODs are irrelevant. Whether or not I poo'd myself (as you so quaintly put it) is also irrelevant, but to answer your question, Yes, I did.

Thanks for attempting to answer my personal question to the poster anyways.

  • I looked at your gaming rig, LMAO, that's all I have to say. How's that x2 4200 treating you?

  • Very well. Thanks for asking asshole.

  • not only that,

your running a 9400gt which is weak sauce as well,

    and,

your comparing a desktop to a MacBook.

which, in case you missed the memo,

    is a laptop sir.

    go spam elsewhere wanker

  • last comment @Kenwyne3546

  • I know my 9400gt sucks balls big time. I'm getting the 9600gt ddr3 soon though.

  • @ Kenwyne3546

I also just had a look at your profile. It says films suck, music sucks and books suck. Are you unable to watch, listen or read? You're blind, deaf and stupid? You need help.

  • Can't wait to install vista on my new Macbook 2.0!!!!!

  • well, i am not that into games. actually i dont play games for years.

    but very impressive fps-rates :)

i hope to get my macbook, soon.

    thanks for your effort!

  • I bought a macbook and 2 weeks from my purchase the new macbook got released, I'm pissed.

  • Ouch!

Hit up Google Reader and subscribe to Gizmodo and Engadget, that way you'll never get caught out by new releases...

  • Congratulations, you're a fanboy.

  • COngradulations, you know nothing about gaming.

  • It was a joke, it was intended for humor purposes. I know the strengths of gaming on Windows.

  • who buys a mac for gaming??

  • With Apple's 14% educational discount, you can get a 2.0GHZ unibody MacBook for £799 (~$1200). Spec a Dell XPS M1330 to the same level, and it'll cost £829 (~$1250). With the MacBook, you get faster front-side bus, faster RAM, better graphics and better build quality, all in a much slimmer, nicer and more durable design.

For the record, I don't own a Mac (writing this on an Acer!), but you'd be an idiot to not consider a Mac if you're looking to spend that kind of cash on a new laptop.

  • ur hairs r ridikulis

  • Any new videos? Are you using a new name or something? Where have you been

  • hey do you think i can run TF2 and L4D on a XP Macbook 2.0ghz? (alu version)? I just want those two, and understand if i cant max out the settings, like just medium on everything?

  • you could run those games on high on that macbook dude.

  • y do people install vista on man when u have perfect mac software

  • games and certain programs, software etc work either only on PC or a shitload better

  • games lol u idiot

  • so you can play games . you are dumb

  • Could You possibly find out if The Witcher game runs on the new alu MB?

I really want to play this game and I still don't know should I take the MB or MBP.

  • Hm, so if I had to go with the macbook 2.0 ghz , should I stick with XP or Vista?

If you stick with XP you'll be missing out on Direct X10. I've heard that you get extra FPS with XP vs Vista -- but do you all think nvidia will tweak their drivers in the coming months so the difference will be negliable?

  • You won't notice any difference in FPS between XP and Vista on a MacBook (only on a machine with 1GB RAM or less, all Unibody MacBooks start at 2GB). Vista SP1 is just as stable as XP, and the benefits of DirectX 10 are worth running Vista. Just make sure you disable SideBar: it's a pointless resource hog!

  • Wow your Vista is pretty fast... Did you do any tweaks on it? I have Vista on my PC which is way better and yet it's slower on Vista than on XP. What gives? My PC has a Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, 2GB DDR2 800MHz of RAM and an EVGA 8800GT 512MB Superclocked.

  • Is it a clean install?

  • Yes, it's pretty new.

  • PC's BLOW!!!!!!1 lol jk im on one but i really want a mac book :P

  • Your DDR2 ram is considerably slower than the Macbook DDR3.

  • i'm getting this macbook soon, and oblivion is my fav. game ever : ))

    great vid 5 stars : p

  • can you log fps average with fraps please? or just tell me what s the average of the fps on fortress 2

  • im getting one on thursdayy cant waiit !!!! .. ps. isnt it a bit laggy when ur playing oblivion @ about 2:55

  • 2:30 oblivion rocks on MB!

  • just wonderning, im planning to get the 2.0hz I hope it is all the same quality of gaming,

  • thats what I want to know, i 'll get mine on 10 days :)

  • When you're playing online, are you playing with PC (ms) users? So are you using bootcamp or something? Did you get a TF2 for Mac, or can any PC game work with bootcamp? And, will this run smoothly on a Macbook 2.0ghz. Sorry for all the questions, it'd be the biggest help if you could answer for me though, really thinking of buying one. Thanks =]

  • Yes, it is with other pc users. Bootcamp is simply a way of running windows natively, so any game that is made for windows will run on windows via bootcamp. As of now, there is no TF2 for mac. It should run just fine on the 2.0Ghz model. All the processor is really good for is physics. The graphics cards are the same in both laptops. Hope that helps!

  • How do you update your drivers? Can't through NVIDIA's site.

  • dude, i want one !!

  • get more videos on here man

  • Working on it! I'm having issues with that digicam...it's deleting the videos after I quit recording. As soon as that's sorted out, I'll get some more up. Thanks for watching!

  • too bad it laggs playing COD 4

  • it never laggs playing cod 4.

  • what forum do you post it on?

  • It is in the description of the video to the right.

  • Yeah sorry about that, i posted that and then i was like aw, shit. haha. Nice video

  • It happens, heh.

  • I'm debating between a 2 ghz macbook and a 2.4 - I don't really need the keyboard backlight or extra hard drive space - does anyone know how much of a difference the .4 ghz makes? Anyone have a recommendation?

  • Omg,that Heavy died amazingly quick?

  • my imac has 5.6 on the vista score thing and i'm running fallout 3 and crysis on the thing (demo for crysis)

  • Do you have problems with your battery cover?

  • Could you show us how it works with COD4? Thanks!

  • There's actually already a video up of this on youtube. Just stick macbook and call of duty 4 in the search and it'd pop up. I'd do it myself, but I don't have a copy and I'm a poor college kid. Thanks for watching!

  • Are you sure? I sticked "macbook call of duty 4" adding "aliminum" first and "unibody" then. No matches. Could you give me the link? Thanks.

  • A poor college kid with enough cash for a MacBook and a copy of Vista...

Nice video though! You actually review the gameplay rather than just showing it (like most YouTube-MacBook-gaming videos).

How large is your Vista partition? How much support is there for the trackpad in Vista: anything more than just the 2-finger scrolling and right click that was possible with the early-2008 MacBooks?

  • I am really interest on how COD4 run on New macbook, if you need software, let me.

  • I read somewhere about how COD4 works on the macbook and from what I heard it works great, as long as you're not using the absolute highest graphical settings.
