  • I did not like this vid. Too much pseudo emotional trash with all these moon, sun, bird, landscape, people cuts and heartbeat sounds. Too little impressive fighter jet in action and flying. And what about all this french talking. Mostly nobody understands that. Thumb down. At least YouTube offers you a Thumb down button instead of this pathetic Facebook which only offers you a Like button. Yeah, Likes are welcome but we don't want any Dislikes. How pathetic!

  • Je voudrais un siege a cote de la fenetre....

  • Désolé mais je trouve ce montage nul !

    Et pourtant j'adore le Rafale...

  • it's so sexy plane !!! i like it

  • Vive la France !

    Marine 2012 !

  • and yes, the neo(old) cons are not only produced in post Bush america(uk)^!; that is a little thing that is never taught in our french schools or manuals, that is true..that hate is real..wake up people, a lot of those 'allies' guys are just assh*..well, i guess they will be more than willing to ally with the new nazis of the day when times comes..and cry again for french 'surrending monkeys' help..and be sorry ass* again if they find we had been fuck* & betrayed either and can't help again..^^

  • USA should nuke France to save peace in the world from these barbarian french .

  • @Q8defenceforces you are one twisted fuck dude

  • SHUT UP ALL ! Shit, today, US and France are allies ! And today, Russia is not a danger anymore ! So please ! Stop !

Great video ! Love the rafale !!!

  • We can defend without NATO, we can ally with both US and Russia if we want :p

  • @VincetheFrogophil Listen dousch bowl if it wasn,t for the USA france would be part of germany even today so stick the "we are self sufficient" bull shit. Your aircraft carriers are always in dry doick getting fixed, your areo industry uses gifted and atolen technology and your nuclear subs are alwyas hitting each other when sunmerged so just admit it that yes you are better and bigger than the UK but you still need america for the backup france will always need. I will agree the UK is fuked tho

  • @VincetheFrogophil Without France USA would still be part of the Britsh Monarchy.

  • @xenomorphelv426 Without UK USA would still be part of the French Republic.

  • @VincetheFrogophil don't reverse the roles, UK was the one and only belligerant against US independence. the fact is France is the First historic allied of the US.

  • @xenomorphelv426 UK was the one in 17th century? In fact you're just telling me UK had US territories, you forgot Louisiana and all spanish territories. Just stop telling me UK was the one: UK was the best with its navy and merchand system. But if you look history and society of colonies; no country can stop independance of a continental population. Or give me an example.

  • @VincetheFrogophil

Im' telling you that French Kingdom, Spanish Kingdom and US indépendentists were allied against UK.

the end of the war was officially signed at the treaty of Paris in 1783.

Of course France owned territories, Napoleon Sold Louisiana to US government in 1803 for 15 millions $.

  • @xenomorphelv426 It's more important to see what UK and France should do today. I'm not sure US and European Union bring us a better life and more power in the world. US are implanted in every country of Europe with there military contracts. I only hope the end of Euro to stop Germany and US when they impose us there rules. France must be ally with US but we must be ally with Russia to dominate Europe. And UK should do the same.

  • @VincetheFrogophil First thing nations need is to protect their own economy and sovereignty at a national scale. this is what France used to do concerning military sovereignty. but the moron Sarkozy reintroduced France into the US lead NATO, mistake !

  • @xenomorphelv426 agree with you Sarkozy is a political dwarf. But this WTO too. In fact the system we are don't help little rich countries like us. We should force our business bank to invest 75% of our national saving in national economy: we can create national plan as research energy (hydrogene), biotechnology, reconstruction of cities and helping people to be owner. There is one thing i'm not agree with the candidate I will vote: it's the time of work per week. We must work more

  • @xenomorphelv426 UK and France have saving but we never invest in our society as we should for energy and High Tech. And when we talk about high research it's military research too... our budgets are just 2.7% of GDP when we had 4% in 90's. I just think US independance is not more dramatical than the days we're living.

  • @staceyfanny US will rest our ally but we can give a chance to Russia to be back as a superpower in Europe. It's a democracy today

  • @VincetheFrogophil I dont trust the russians, they will sign treaties with questionable countries like iran and help them with nuclear technology knowing that iran will use it for weaponary uses. They have not forgotten their step down as a world power and rescent the sucess of the west and nato while their warsaw dreams are shattered. They long for their return to being a world power again and will try anything to get there again. Not to be trusted and not a real democracy at.

  • @staceyfanny yes and? Do you know we sold arms to Libya? To Irak, to Iran? If they fight between them, were is the problem? I want to be ally with Russia because I trust more for them than US. US founded UE, they made Europe as a puppet. If you want strong allies, let them decide by themselves, or they will die.

  • my country had 2 choises: F-16 / Rafale Dassault !

they finaly choosed the F-16 because of Rafale prices :/

  • @PatoWiNNERS because they sign a paper with USA to make them install some US marines in "your" country...we'll see what a F16 can do againt your neighboor Su 30 mki...

  • @bingofioul we have been training with the marines since years before we get any fighter, so as I have said the main raison is the Rafale imaginary prices, trust me the f-16 block 52 if you put them in the right hands the su30 will find itself a flying fireball!

we are curently trying to modernize the mirage f1, and we will buy another modern jet in the few upcoming years, maybe the Rafale or another american jet.

  • My money is on Rafale for the Indian air Force!

  • @MrSabot88 my money is on rafale for abu dabi, india and brasil !

  • @frc101Omb Well as much I respect your comment and country, didn't just self Portrait your country as superior like the rest you answered in your comment!

  • The Mirage remains the best fighter.

  • @frc101Omb Good call.

  • it makes me sad to see that all this beauty is intended for warfare. shame taht we still think war is tolerable in the 21st century. we are jsut monkeys with guns people. just monkeys.

  • @ismaelomaribanez

"war is the father of all things"

    beautiful and ugly

  • Eurofighter and Rafale were both born from the same project. France wanted a carrierbased version and they didnt get it. So they stepped back from the EF programm and made their own Canard Delte Fighter wich fits the french needs better because its tailor made for them. And its a very capable fighter indeed.

And imho a real beauty as well.Especialy the dual seat version.

  • Comment removed

  • I think the Rafael can beat the Eurofighter maybe 7 out of 10 times. I always wonder why the French don't have respect around the world. Seems like all the big countries think of the French like the kid that's picked last on a team, like he's there but no one wants him. WHY?

  • @5xthejoy " I always wonder why the French don't have respect around the world." USA is not the world...

France has recently sold several submarines to Brazil. Russia has purchased two helicopter carriers to France. We sell military hardware to Russia, just that ! France is the third largest arms exporter in the world.

  • @ContreJours . I have lots of friends in France and ive been there alot of times. And i know the french are very good in making weaponsystems. But being the third larges weapons exporter is nothing to be proud of. But my country germany is unfortunatly a big player in weapons export as well.

  • @Ed France is currently the 3rd nuclear power after the US and Russia.

We are he third largest arms exporter. We built our nuclear submarines, our aircraft (Rafale, Mirage 2000...) our nuclear aircraft carrier (Charles de Gaulle, Clemenceau) we have our own Spy satellites (Helios 1A, Helios II-A, Helios 2B) and in 2016 we will send a new spy satelite CSO, we don't need the information of CIA or NSA, we dont need the US military technology, we can make good stuff and be independent without help.

  • @burtoncaly and i'll also put our engin VAB ,etc more than 20 ,and for respond to yourself the ex secret service of france DGCE had told the cia and the fbi of a potential and dangerous activities of terrorism . the same for iraq when we known that there wasn't... never mine now it's not my problem any more .

  • @burtoncaly bullshit. If it came to a world war the US would save your asses like before.

  • @TheIndustrialrocker Again an American angry kid....We French, saved your ass in Yorktown against the British. when your country was too much weak for fight against the British Empire. we send you money, arms and soldiers in order to be a free country ! American are thankless ! we even give you the Statue of Liberty as a gift.

In the WW1 France did the most job, it's only in the WW2 that France was defeated by the Nazi.

  • @minhounou I agree with everything you have said, but in ww1 the British fielded 4 million men,the Biggest and best Navy in the world at the time and a great Air force. With great pilots and planes like the Se5a and the Sopwith Camel and the invention of the tank they did as much or more then France in ww1.

  • @TheLloydA The French send more troops than British during the WW1. France did the most effort in the war. we fought many battle only like in Verdun, the US came in the end they fought 2 months and they dare to say that they saved France. In fact, the president Wilson declared the war in 1917 but he didn't want to send his troops quickly

Of course UK did a great job. Germany or Austria-Hungaria were both far more populated country than France in this period, we needed the help of Brits for win.

  • @minhounou Britain was no second rate power when people talk about ww1 it was won by France and Britain and i agree USA played a small part in the war, both of our countries gave alot and lost alot.At the end of the day we could not of won without each other,You say Verdun you lost 163,000 i say the battle of the Somme where the British lost 420,000 soldiers. Also these people saying the Rafale in better then the Typhoon is stupid we have to see them in combat first.

  • @TheLloydA1 The problem is that the Typhoon is a good plane for countries like Germany, Italy and Spain, countries that do not have force projection, or bases on other continents. For you, this kind of aircraft is useless...

  • @ContreJours Do you mean because its not a carrier plane its useless ?

  • @TheLloydA1 The Typhoon is an aircraft designed for the Cold War, it is primarily used to protect the airspace of a country, it is useful.

But the Rafale in its differrent versions can do both, protect the airspace of France, and defend French interests to the four corners of the world. Wait for the F35 or make its own naval fighter would have been more intelligent for the United Kingdom, F35 can do the same work than Typhoon and can be loaded on carrier.

  • @ContreJours Give me the name of these tests or exercises,Or where you got this information please.

  • @burtoncaly True all that but you know like many countries, France have many haters. If you look at the world, everybody simply hates each other and this is mostly due to media, brainwashing, uneducation, over patriotism, etc. France do make very high tech shit and i do respect the fact that you guys do not rely on other nations in terms of technology. Being independent and able to innovate/produce on your own stuff is smt i respect a lot. Greetings from Turkey...

  • @burtoncaly fuck the french.. germans are no1

  • @logelamutp wher is you respect for the others?

by the way, germany n#1 in what?

  • @burtoncaly you'd be eating strudel and have a swastika on your national flag if it wasn't for the US. you should thank the US and UK for making it possible for France to be able to develop new weapons. Any plans for a new Maginot Line??? That sure worked like a charm, huh Frenchie???

  • @alkimst13

    Have you been schooled ?

Did you know that without France you would be a Queen subject ?

About the Maginot line, France forgive to Belgium a long time ago; About invasion, France forgive to Germany too; For the help from all over the world, all the Frenchs respect & honor the braves who came to fight in our fields.

But you poor troll, you're none.

  • @alkimst13 for your information, if it was not the allies who liberate France, it would be the soviets, and that's the truth, because the nazis were completly overwelmed by the soviets. Soviets over all europe, the us din't want that at all.

  • @alkimst13

blahblahblah, usa is the best, blahblahblah.

  • @burtoncaly "We are he third largest arms exporter. We built our nuclear submarines, our aircraft (Rafale, Mirage 2000...) our nuclear aircraft carrier (Charles de Gaulle, Clemenceau) ....... we can make good stuff and be independent without help" - and we will surrender when the first shoot is heard. Like in WWII...LOOOL

  • @flytalon

    You come from Romania?

HAHAHAHAHA, in 2 day we blow your entire country if we want, so shut the hell up.

Go search some food in the dump to eat tonight, we'll talk later

  • @545416855987988666 this will be before or after surrender?! Yeap the same old story with you frenchies....hand up and scream "WE SURRENDER"

  • @flytalon roumania country of retarded thieves, UE and France saved your economy and your pathetic industries. I m tired to see all roumanians in France return to you ugly country and shut up rom !

  • @c3dr1cb Romania country of retarded thieves?! UE and France saved us?! A-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. What a crappy argument. Are Romanian banks spoiling Greece?! Did we imposed contracts with company as Vinci o Colas?!

Tired to see Romanians in France? Then who will work there?! Man, you are on drugs or something? Look first to your country, to you as person, and the thrash other nations or people. What a petty.

  • @545416855987988666 Oh, food?! Go find out from is coming the weath in France. Ignorant!!

  • @flytalon

Why saying crap like that ? Are you a cock sucker of United States who spreads around the world that we surrender once during the WWII until Brits were retreating to their island and we covered them under the fire of enemies ?

And you ? Your country has been captured by NAZI, is it better ?

At Least, we made more in every domain than you and YOU are laughing of us for one defeat ?!?!?!

Ge learn history of battle of France.

Wiki + List of battles involving France

    BTW, Have a nice day

  • @samados969 "At Least, we made more in every domain than you" no sheet- give me some examples.. "and YOU are laughing of us for one defeat ?!?!?!"- yeap! We fought first with germans because the french abandoned the eastern Europe in 1940, and after that thanks to us, the war had been shortened with at least 6 months to one year. Get your things straight samado. I think I know much more history then you will ever dream of knowing,

  • @samados969"that we surrender once during the WWII until Brits were retreating to their island and we covered them under the fire of enemies"

Fact: the coalition where splinted in Ardens in the first day of the attack that germans unleashed over the coalition's forces. So spear me with the Wiki crap, where everyone can puts what it wants. Try learn the history of your country in the school dude, not from crapy sites.

  • @burtoncaly Good work in Libya. My thanks to you all.

  • Comment removed

  • @burtoncaly TRUE.

  • @burtoncaly + you forget that france is the only country with USA capable of doing satelite tracking since 5 years...all european countries relies on US + france for this kind of intelligence

  • Comment removed

  • I would call myself a fool, if I go by official nuke numbers of China and India

  • @burtoncaly Congrats! your able to kill millions of people in a second! I think thats rather disgusting! I'm proud that my country does NOT have nuclear weapons.

  • This is Eurofighter Typhoon? very similar..

  • @tenb874 , originallt Dassault and British Aerospace did develop a joint project during the early '80s, but later they disagreed each other because of the development of a navalized version. From that common project both Rafale and Typhoon derive, England preferring the achieving of speed and altitude, France the real multirole capability

  • @tenb874

No the Eurofighter are absolutly no similar, the technological choices from the Rafale are completly different, armament and the multirole radar completly different (and extremly performing),the active discretion system (Spectra) different, the Rafale is 100% multirole, not the EF...The rafale is from debut think to use on carrier with minimum modifications, the EF no and he is 2 tons heawyer empty ...

I think the EF is a older generation in comparision...

  • @oiseautempete Yes you are right, the rafale was multirole from the beginning. But that was a political decission because france planned to replace a lot of aircraft types while britain and germany wanted to replace their interceptors first. EF will be multirole as well. It will be done in steps because of the costs. France needed multiroe asap so they invested big time. And they were faster because they didnt have to as other partners about it. It was wise for them to step away from EF

  • @BruckMahl Well they better be since they are almost 4 times more expensive than f-16

  • Too bad they're being used by the Jews to bomb Africa.

  • Awesome Plane

  • gotta give to the french, they know how to make things look sexy. First the maid outfit, now this

  • Don`t buy french products.i hade only bad experiences with them.

  • @daciuss u bought baguettes ?

  • @daciuss: Romania couldn't buy any European fighters "Typhoon, Rafale or gripen", and we have only VERY BAD experiences with all the "rom's" sleeping in our parks.

  • @condebayard

Romania is buing 76, F16 and F35 not Rafale.Rafale was not sold to any country except France, i wonder why.As for gipsys, you can have them all, we don`t like them.

  • @daciuss

The Rafale did 5 draws and was shot down once against the F-22 in a training session. In another more secret testing the Rafale even got multiple locks on it. Very little data was published, but it seems the Rafale might just be one heck of a plane. Since the D version many things have changed and SPECTRA makes things much easier. The Rafale will take down the F16 with a blink of an eye. Look it up. F-35 one heck of mess. If you need it hope it doesn't rain.

  • @ohmannhey my gov was about to buy Rafale fighters but they choosed the F16 block 52 at the last moment, you think it's a bad choice ?

we have already some french fighters (mirage f1 & 2000), but i think the Rafale is more advanced!

  • @PatoWiNNERS

I think they could have better gone with Omnirole Rafale, way better jet.

  • If u guys remember MIRAGE 4000 that project was stopped cz it was expensive i think they used some of that technology in the beautiful Rafale

  • MIRAGE 2000 is one of the Best aircrafts ever made.

    Rafale is even more advanced.

  • I hear some of the commets, saying that the French took the Delta wing design from

    EF the Typhoon.

What a dumies.French are specialized with delta wings and look at the Mirages who was made first, Typhoon or the Mirage?? dum dum

Or just being jelous from the advance technology of the french

  • @mazda20201 Dassault was the only manufacturer to master the delta wing, before retiring the EF project, so it seems more that the EF is based on the Rafale.

  • @mazda20201 Delta wing technology originated in Germany..Marcel Dassault has learned everything from Germans after the ww2..

  • @FORBAN2 the first plane with delta wing was created in 1933 by a french engineer named Roland PAYEN, the plane was called Pa 100. flyed the first time by a pilot called Meunier...then junker took this technology in 1941...

  • @bingofioul

The junkers was a nurflugler, flying wing (like Horthen) not a delta in normal sense, but the Payen Pa 100 was a realy delta ...

  • @oiseautempete exactly !

  • This piece of Mahler fits perfectly with aircraft flying at high altitude

  • That music at 1:38 is from Mahler, symphony number 5? The French are so pretentious. In France they have mahler music playing for their military videos!

  • Watch your ass Gaddafi!!! You'll shit in your dress when the Rafales are storming.

  • @RichKilla86ers lol sure thing

  • @hasanbelieverofallah: The western world should have left Koweit in Saddam's hands, keep your sarcasms to yourself

  • yeah if its french even killing is artistic:)feck that

  • 44 jealous

but we don't care, having the best of what's important

german are best for cars ,swiss are best for watches,

italians for vinegar, english for tea, americans for guitars

and french for all the rest aahhahahaha

  • @billbocate tu est francais ??

  • @Phi93120

    yes papa

  • @Phi93120: tu ES français ??!! La honte.

  • @Gratterdede1 pk ?!!

  • In the words of Lord Gilmour "If you are paying bribes to high-up people in the government, the fact that it's illegal in Saudi law doesn't mean much."

The admission follows the Saudi decision to buy up to 72 BAE Systems-made Typhoon fighters.

While the US salesmen were meeting in Hotels the British had set up a tent & were taking the saudi's Hunting with falcons.

Crafty Mr British knows his market :)

  • Why the frensh allways take the Nobel prize???

  • 1:48 Why does he have that mask on his face?

  • don't get me wrong, but, comparing to the newest russian fighterjets, this plane is-crap. better is only maybe this hollywoodlike made commercial movie

  • @GreatRedTiger ... Newest Russian fighters that hit the market are still Su34/Su35, evolutions of the Su27 (1980s...). While they have excellent dynamics, they are way behind European (and even American) companies in terms of electronics (avionics, optronics, radars etc...). You can't compare a plane which is actually operational for years to a prototype that won't be ready before a decade or even more....

  • @bidon3332000 if that's the plane that will be operational and a flagcarrier in not less than a decade, ruskies will beyond 2020 have developed 6th generation

  • Cruzex Training, some info

    Rafale make 17 kills vs 2 face to F16 on ( 6 mission) 1v2

Rafale make 22 kils vs 0 facte to F5 upgraded (no kill), mission omnirole, bombing, bvr, dog

    M2000-5 make 13 kills vs 9 kill 2v2 face to F16

  • If it is ever fired on by German Aircraft, it automatically disengages all weapons systems and immediately sets course for Berlin to deliver pre-packaged surrender documents

  • @95dggm lol, you're funny, and right!

people should indeed buy an "automatically throws itself into a tower" american jet.

or just a "auto programcancel due to soaring costs" british one...

  • @95dggm Jealousy always makes me happy ! =)

  • Well then I guess Airbus India employing 250 engineers at the moment in India is hardly an european company and as hardly any european technologies involved in it... Well just look for eurofighter on the Times and you'll see that Uk had to ask the US to sell it to the saudi because of the fact that BAE is now more a US company that a european one, you'll also find a interview of Louis Gallois (a french by the way) CEO of EADS promoting Typhoon and talking about the bid in India: very educating..

  • Given the fact that Typhoon is using french technology (see Thales UK) for many of its sensors system, and had french help for its fly by wire controls I find it silly when some people call rafale the "downgraded version... Rafale is a fully operationnal aircraft that's meeting the need of the french army in general. The Typhoon's customers are so confident that they are also buying F35, extending Tornados service life... It sure ain't perfect but hey, it sure is a hell of a fighter!!

  • FMSIGNA-L AF

    90.3 1:12 1:16

    FMSIGNA-L AF

  • Ive heard the next french fighter plane comes with a white flag release button for when they have to surrender, lol

  • The Rafale is a downgraded version of the Typhoon! how can it possibly be better than the Typhoon in a dogfight???

  • @Mannykeri

Absolutely not, the Rafale is a totally different plane than the Typhoon. Historically, Dassault was part of the Eurofighter consortium, but this aircraft doesn't match french army needs, so Dassault went on it's own.

And fact is, Dassault has built Delta-winged fighter for almost 50-60 years, while all entreprises in the Eurofighter consortium never had built any, (in fact, no enterprises there have built any jet fighter since 40 years).

  • @Mannykeri

So, Rafale is not a downgraded version of the Typhoon, it's an aircraft conceived and built by one excellent aircraft builder (and leader in aircraft frame conception, every professionnal aircraft conceiver in the world use the software Catia made by dassault to build their aircrafts). And it's better, more manoeuvrable, more modular and better in air/air and Air/ground combat than the Typhoon that suffered the different needs of it's differents conceceivers.

  • It should be noted that in previous projects, such as "Mirage F.1" and "Mirage 2000", there was a similar technology demonstration program. All these new technologies in the field of aerodynamics, structures, flight controls, cabin layout, electron equipment, optoelectronic equipment and systems have a single goal - to improve the performance of aircraft maneuverability end transsonic maneuvers with a high load.

  • The importance of the French decision is not only a technology demonstrator and applied to the test during their training, but also the role of the new aircraft in the next century which will replace the aircraft type "Mirage", "Super Etendard, and fighter-bomber type" Jaguar " . In fact, most technology is examined separately, but they first found themselves together on the technology demonstrator - an aircraft "Rafale A", to reduce the risk of developing a new generation.

  • The decisive moment in the development of aircraft "Rafale" was the 1985th years ago, when France withdrew from the program of European hunting aircraft. Rich experience in the development of combat aircraft is convinced the French that they can own forces to design and produce a new fighter aircraft, equipment and weapons for 21 century.

  • Come on folks,we are all allies, even though it took europe 40 years to catch up with the U.S.(well....maybe not)But nice try though.

  • @TheSwekebab bögjävel, lär dig att stava

  • @uselesspve lol p12 ^^

  • Obviously, more advance aerodynamically than the EF-2000!

  • Serbian Air Force want to purchase new fighter and Rafale is one of the options!!! I would love to see this plane in Serbian Air Force's markings!!!

  • @everyonetookmynick

Hope so! SERBIAN KOSOVO! Europe has no memory. Our politicians are cowards. We have to protect Serbia, not Kosovo or Bosnia.

  • this isnt frence techlology!!! they are useing technology made by sweaden

  • @TheSwekebab err... no :D

This is 100% French technology, built in France and using exclusively French weapons and ammunition.

  • @bidon3332000 look at the shape of the plane... its copied from sweadens with a few changes its a 4th generation fighter and sweaden invented that so yes it is using some swe tech :P

  • @TheSwekebab On that account, every delta-winged aircraft is part-Sweden isn't it? :/

I don't wanna sound offending, but you don't seem to know much about combat aircraft...

Delta wing is a specialty of Dassault, as you can trace it back to the 50s' and their famous Mirage III. Except Mirage F1, all Dassault military aircrafts since then are delta wings. The Rafale (then "ACX") project was merely an aerodynamic demonstrator at first (in the 80s'). It was finally prefered to Mirage 4000 ->

  • @bidon3332000 -> and the european coop fighter (which gave the Typhoon).

Gripen is just the succesor of the Viggen.

These two aircrafts have really nothing in comon. They were built on different strategic concepts : simple, cost-effective Gripen vs sophisticated, extremly versatile and efficient Rafale. Both aircrafts are excellent in their domain btw.

The real competitor of Rafale would rather be Gripen NG, which is not at the prototype stage yet.

  • @bidon3332000 I encourage you to find some info about this. Aircrafts can be quite fascinating ;)

Then you'll realise Dassault really really doesn't need to copy anyone to build an aircraft ^^ in fact, they're arguably world leader in aerodynamics, as they developped numerical simulation tools now used by every aircraft-maker around the world!

  • @bidon3332000 its true that i dont know so moutch abaut combat airplanes... still learning :P

  • @TheSwekebab Well, we all have to learn don't we ;) glad if i could help a bit

And now i'm thinking about this, don't pay too much attention to all that "4th/4.5/5th generation" chatter. It doesn't mean much, that's mainly marketting, and it's even not clearly defined...

It's mostly used by yankee fanboys boasting about "their" 5thgen aircrafts, as they don't have much to back it up :p

    Cheers!

  • @bidon3332000 thanks for your kind confidence in French technology. having said that, it is sad to say that the rest does not quite follow (no mass production, weak french diplomatic position)... which makes the rafale, beautiful, but unsellable...

  • @bidon3332000 Dassault knows what they are doing. And for France, replacing alot of types with rafale, it was best not to wait for the Eurofighter. France is better of with the Rafale. They invested big time and they got a fine aircraft, and a beautifull one as well. Still i dont think the performance difference between Rafale and Rafale will be significant when EF finaly is outfitted with all its planned capabilities. But then again, i dont want to see it testet in anger. Beautifull planes.

  • @TheSwekebab

first flight of the Grippen: 1988

first flight of the Rafale 1986....nuff said.

But the problem is not here. Sweden proved than a medium-sized european country can develop a fantastic modern aircraft. It's a good news for Sweden and for Europe.

  • @indexelbow sorry but i dont belive you :) sweaden invented the first multi role and the first 4th generation fighter... mabye thats an old version of the rafaele that isnt a 4th generation? :P

  • @TheSwekebab Regardless you are trying to take the credit for an amazing aircraft saying that this jet is only possible because of Swedish design and that is totally false. The Rafale is a delta wing design like the Eurofighter. Delta wing design was being used by the American's in 1948. Long before Sweden was making Saab Draken's or Viggens in 1955 and 1970 respectively.

  • @MarkyMilitaryFan i know when i wrote that i had forgot abaut the mirage. the thing isnt who made the engine (witch is made by volvo witch is sweadish) but that the plane is designed and built by sweaden

  • @TheSwekebab Snecma makes the engines for the Rafale and the mirage. They are a major French manufacture. Both the Mirage series and the Rafale are designed and manufactured by Dassault Aviation of France.

  • @TheSwekebab It's impossible to make an aircraft without using technology from France, U.S.A., U.K., Sweden, Germany, etc. Every country has contributed to the technology that is now used in airplanes. Sweden's jets that are made by Saab don't use all Swedish technology. For example, jet engines were made by Germany, Radar was invented by the U.K., U.S.A. made the missle. Swedish jets weren't all Swedish technology either.

  • @MarkyMilitaryFan americain missile, let s see: mica, meteor...

  • The Royal Navy should have opted for Rafale, without doubt, far cheaper and as capable as Britain requires, the F35 will prove an expensive mistake i fear!

  • Le blah, le blahblah blah, le blah.

  • Can a fully upgraded Mirage 2000 be as good as the Rafale? Is buying a Rafale over completely upgrading the Mirage 2000 worth it?

  • @Kallosar No.First because Dassault stopped the development of the M2000. If you want to have an up-to-date Mirage able to compete with superhornet, latest F16 and so, you'll have to pay for it.

Dassault now concentrates exclusively on the Rafale, which is better than the 2000 in every aspect. It has the multirole ability (can adress all sort of missions at the same time). You needed several configurations of 2000 before (C,D or N).

M2000 still has good potential, but there is a gap with Rafale.

  • @bidon3332000 Wrong..Dassault closed the assembly line of the M2000 due to lack of orders!!! the F-16 has beaten the shit out of Mirage in international competitions..

After the year 2002 nobody ordered the Mirage anymore..

  • @FORBAN2 The lack of orders are the consequence. Dassault's decision to stop M2K development is the cause. It was made years ago, because Dassault couldn't be on every front i.e. keeping M2K up to date and completing the Rafale program. And even like that, they were short of ressources (think of the transitional Rafale F1...).

F16 and M2K are very close in performance and in potential, so it's a problem of money and not of know-how.

  • @bidon3332000 BTW, what's the point of keeping the old bird alive when the new one can do more, and better?

The US keep developping F16 and F18 only because their modern aircraft (F35 JSF) won't be ready untill a decade or so...

  • no, really

france has an accord keeping romanians and bulgarian citizen in the visa circuit until 2013 or 2015, i don't remember. check it by yourself.

so after 3 month on french soil, they become illegal.

what you call camps, i can talk about, for i see the one in le mesnil amelot everytime i go to work. a modern building, 5 stories, surrounded by gardens and playground (fenced, though) where any illegal is put, awaiting for his plane back home.
