  • Fucking. Beautiful.

  • thats pretty damned good.

  • nicely done

  • amazing n/t

  • 0:39 very beautiful stuff.

  • i agree...its very good..and cleanly played

  • this is so soothing

  • what is the name of thise musik?

  • great sound and nice progression

  • I love the sound of Martins.

  • Strum on sir.

  • BEAUTIFUL SOUND!!!!!

  • i cant believe he's 52...

  • no he is 5.9

  • there's no way he's 59 .. on wiki it says he's 52....

if he's 59 then wtf happened to growing old?? haha

dude looks like a 35 yr old dude...

  • i mean his hight is 5.9

  • @dopemcee He's a vegetarian and he works out all the time. Being rich probably helps too.

  • this makes me smile, love it.

  • TABS??????????

  • wow

  • My favorite Kevin Eubanks album is face to face. He plays some beautiful acoustic on there as well.Ron Carter on upright bass and Marcus Miller on electric Bass. Kevin also does some electric on there too.You can hear some Wes Mongomery in his electric playing

  • Nice job Mr. Eubanks! That was very beautiful sir =D

  • not improv of course but still amazing!!!

  • what makes you think it's not improv?

  • i don't know if you playing music but i do and im sure its not improvisation.

The harmony, the chord position, the left hand arpegios, the structure of the tune... everything is well built.

There is a theme that coming a lot of time and noboby is able to improv that.

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • Check out KyleLandry on piano improvisation... You can not deny that this is possible then.

  • If you have a good memory and a knowledge of musical form, you can definitely improvise a song like this. That's how Bach wrote a lot of his fugues. If you've seen the movie "Ray" you know that he once wrote a 10 minute song with lyrics and melody and background vocals on a gig at a bar (that's a documented fact). You should see Elton John improvise song structure to the Bible. It is very possible to improvise a structured song. Why shouldn't Kev be able to pluck this tune out of thin air?

  • Ok ok you convince me.

I think that kevin is able to do that!

    BUT... ;-)

I learn this tune and the right hand arpegios are not easy and very regular.

Its sure that he improvise during this tune but the main melody isnt improv.

  • And how do you know that ? respectfully ?

  • O come on guys...

Just listen this tune and you can understand its not total improv...

  • nothing is total improv, do you play the guitar or listen to jam bands ?

  • @maxigoodvibes Who gives a shit wether its not improvised or not ? .... its still very beautiful!

  • @indaplace2b

Just wrong title but no probleme for me

    Very beautiful of course

  • He is playing standard tuning with a drop D

  • is he playing in DADGAD?

  • DADGBE!!!

  • incredible

  • Still my favorite player- and I've heard em all (or most). I can't say enough how much Kevin Eubanks embodies everything I love about guitar. A true master. Most modern jazz players have nothing on Kevin.

  • I sat through and figured out how to play the entire song. Will try to get a link for tabs up asap.

  • thanks your the man...

  • How are you going on that link? Id be very interested to see it.

  • I bet he was classically trained. This is really good.

  • i suck at finger picking. and this makes me want to work on it.

  • This is incredible, very talented musician! I've never heard him playing when he wasnt on TV

  • This is improv? That's hard to believe. Wow, just wow :D

  • Amazing musician

  • fantastic. plain and simple

  • improv my ass

  • I think it's more efficient to pick with your fingers like he does, but every time I try to switch, I'm disappointed with the lack of note clarity.

Kevin doesn't seem to have that problem.

  • Just practice it nice and slowly and you'll get it. I wanted to use hybrid picking myself but my right pinky tendon had been severed in an accident and it was really hard to use again. Anyway, I can use it now very well for picking, so it just takes persistence. Good luck

  • Wow I really like this a lot, wish I had a copy to play around the house when I'm doing chores and what not, very very good sir.

  • Thats amazing. Love the song

  • SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAB THIS ASAP! so amazing.

  • Wow. Bravo sir. I've got one that's no where near this....but you guys should watch it anyways.

  • Ahhh-Maz-Ing

That's so peaceful and sounds very serene.

  • tabs?

  • none...that's y it's called improv. he made it up as he went along

    too bad...

  • nbc shoulda gave him the live performance spot every night

  • That is so cool Kevin!

  • great stuff!!

  • Improv? Really? :O Wow amazing stuff!

  • so good omg

  • if i could play half as good as this...

  • Improv? Good stuff! :o

  • Kev kicks ass !

  • i'd like to play these song but how can i do?? gee lol do you have the tabs? (sorry my english)

  • Its all improvisation, no sheet music or tabs involved

  • hopefully he 'll turn it into real work in like an album

  • sweet music

  • Inspiring, uplifting, and very very musical!

  • Now thats how u play the guitar!!

  • Great !!!!!

  • that was amazing man. good job

  • very nice thanks

  • this shit's nice, calm... good job!

  • bravissimo

  • GREAT WORK!!

  • even more surprising that this is improv

  • nice, beautiful

  • I'm entranced. This is so relaxing. I love it.

  • Nylon?

  • No, steel

  • De Light Full.

  • Sound's like the weather channel stuff you hear on telstra clear television. Alot of control and fluent transitioning, I think he's the bomb digity.

    Shot.

  • Crazy finger picking skills with amazing tone control. Top notch for sure. I feel like the only activity that would do justice to this song would be running through a magical forest of some sort. Maybe galloping through an open meadow on a unicorn would be appropriate as well...

  • It is so sad to see what a life of practice can earn us. We are all so lazy-almost all-not you, great job man.

  • majestic

  • Outstanding!!! and all he plays on the Tonight Show is jazzy stuff. I wish he would play more of this...

  • you so funny jay!! AA HA HA HA

  • this shit is so relaxing....GO KEV EUBANKS

  • Philly sons rule...thx Kevin

  • 76ers not phillys hat

  • ...I did not mean baseball team...but a "son" of Philadelphia

  • sounds like a song zeppelin would make, great job

  • i never heard kevin play acoustic. WOW. thats all i can say WOW.

  • hahah tabs!! ahahah jk jk, sounds super kool, wish i could play like that!!!

  • Much Respect

  • I love this man. it's..... the best acoustic improv i've ever heard, no joke. You could win any compition. do you record? if you do where can i hear more??

  • Hahaha, he reminds me of Morgan Freeman in Bruce the Almighty in that hat. :D

    Just to add...

  • Ha I thought the same exact thing!

  • Does anyone know his tuning? Basic or what?

  • i think he's doing a drop D

  • amazing...no other word for it

  • Amazing talent. There so many

  • wow... i didn't realize he was so good. the tonight show doesn't pay him any justice.

  • beautiful

  • kevin eubanks is the kyle landry of the guitar! master improviser!

  • That's not just any tune he's playing - he is improvising around the hymn setting "Praise To the Lord" ('. . the almighty, the King of creation . . . o my soul praise him, for he is thy health and salvation,' etc.) And it's a really nice job he's doing - I never knew Mr. Eubanks was so talented a guitarist. Great job!

  • it could be improvised.. sometimes you play around a certain set of chords so much that it's easy to build a variety of melodies around them.. all he's doing is playing a set of beautiful chords and running the scales around each chord. man.. i just think Kevin has such a beautiful soul, we need more players like him.

  • Kevin,

what can I say, you are just the best of thw best! Thanks for your music!

    Fernando

  • so peaceful

  • yeaH!! Bitchen, as kevin always is,...but,..improv my ass!!...thats composed...you can all tell the difference, right?...

  • you´re absolutely right. Maybe song´s name is Improv ? haha, just kidding.

  • oh its that guy from jay leno, cool.

  • Awesome playing as always...thanx for the video of it

  • seems like he knew every note he was gonna play

  • I never knew Kevin Eubanks was so talented.

  • That was brilliant. I tell you, if that really was just an improv and not a written tune then the guy is unbelievable! Anyone what tuning he was in?

  • dadgad...it's a good tuning for ethereal open major 9 chords but also it's easy to bar across the top strings to get dominant chords and half diminished chords-which eubanks masterfully demonstrates here.

  • Just Drop D here, DADGBE, low to high! In DADGAD the D Kevin holds for a large part of the piece would be on the 5th fret 2nd string not the 3rd that he holds here - also the A to F# pull off on the 1st string (first time at 0:41) would need to be from 7th to 4th fret, not 5th to 2nd.

Sincere apologies for being one of those anal youtube comment repliers, I really didn't mean to :D

  • well met. i was going by the sound- i tried to recreate this at home and had an easier time using DADGAD.he uses this tuning quite a bit on his solo albums and so my ear and i just made an assumption, though looking back- an incorrect one! But in all honesty-i think that the rest of us without kevin eubanks sized hands would would do better with the more altered tuning.especially for that groovy suspended 7th chords used throughout! thanks for correcting me but i had my reasons. much love mate

  • He's just in Drop D - DADGBE - look at 4:55 - the F# note at the top of the arpeggio is on the second fret.

  • DADGBE, otherwise known as Drop D!

  • I really like this, sounds alot like some PHISH.lol keep it up

  • Just beautiful

  • wow that was really good

  • Wow that was fantastic

    Hes really an amazing player

  • I want 2 die playin that haha

  • si abusiv combà

  • ahem ahum...to my ears that's a nylonstringed classical guitar -_-

  • Most assuredly they aren't nylon strings. You can hear the ridges on the strings when he slides his fingers quickly over the strings. What you hear is a talented touch.

    Bravo!

  • well a hearing aid may be necessary...that's a martin steel string...a 0018 with the standard headstock.

  • ....oh my.

  • Bellisimo

  • amazing! so fluid

  • played with such heart love it!

  • good god this is so awesome!

this is my third time listening to this!

  • wow that was amazing

  • wish i could improvise like that!

    great job!

  • that was amazing. Just simply amazing.

  • that was amazing. Just simply amazing.

  • hes awesome =>

  • WOOT

  • awesome!

  • He's a very talented man, beautiful improv. Awesome.
