I wouldn't say its the best movie of this year but it is defiantly one of the better one, its amazing how this fictional movie felt so much like a "slice of life" kind'a movie. You are constantly reminded of what it felt like to be a kid and then instantly pulled back to reality, it was frightening.

See, I personally feel that the movie alone is great. I think that if you are trying to compare the movie (1 hr & 37 minutes) and the children's book (9 sentences) to see if the movie "sticks to" the book you are less elementary than the original text itself. I believe that the movie (as well as Dave Eggars' new book "The Wild Things") are !!!LOOSELY!!! related to the book. Jonez obviously had to add details, background, and dynamics to characters.

I saw the film last night, and this guy has absolutely no concept of childhood. If he did, he would've loved this movie for all it embraced; the destructive nature of children, the facets of Max's life, and the meaning of responsibility in light of your mistakes. This dude is sour. Please go see the film.
