@Newtacious Actually the song is by Tears for Fears, and Gary Jules does have a version of it, though this isn't it. To me is sounds like Adam Lambert's (American Idol) version.
omgg thats adorable! im gonna make that for my mom for mothers day!!! your freaken awesome! and u also make it look easy!! i hope its as easy as it seems! thanks!!!!!
@ASmooveFan Steve has been doing wood working long enough, I think he understands how whittling works, and that while you want to follow certain safety guidelines, some of them have to be skipped at times. It's kind of insulting to blurt out these silly mantras like this.
A fantastic knife for this type of work is the Opinel No. 8, it's a good size and gets incredibly sharp.
Today I made a wooden toy out of an old branch I had seasoned in my Garage; it's essentially a wooden sphere in a 1-piece 4 barred cage. You can tilt the entire thing to make the ball roll around :)
I just got a new pocket knife. Tanto Style. I looked up what to do with pocket knives 'cause I was bored. I saw the word whittling. I Googled it. I YouTubed it. I watched your video. Now I'm whittling.
Loved it! I'm only young, but I'm artistic. I'm gunna give it a go. You said 'Pine' would work, that's lucky for me because we've just cut down our Christmas tree!
@stevinmarin You my friend are the definition of an artist. You made something of out nothing, very impressive, well done. Could you post a link to this song, I've never heard this version of the song.
Good video. No matter what high tech hobby I get into, I always fall back on a simple pocket knife and a chunk of wood- back to the basics. When I first got interested in whittling, I asked an ol' timer how he did it. He replied, "well if you want to make a horse, look at the wood and then whittle away anything that doesn't look like it would belong on a horse!" That has carried me 20 plus years of whittling! Keep up the great videos!
Het steve check out my vid on guitar neck rest. I have been bouncing around the idea of making a guitar stand....been trying do a design thats different but like you suffering with woodworkers block. LOL...would love to see what you come up with.
