  • It makes sense. We walk through shopping malls like this why not do the same in high traffic city areas?

  • damn, now although ha noi's economy is better, the traffic is going down very fast. I am sick of smelling CO and CO2 from buses and cars .

  • they should ban the horn....imagine living here and all day it's beep beep beep beep beepl...

  • you know the dude in the orange shit probably got runned the fuck over.

  • This is quite day believe me!!

  • no problem, there is lots of white paint on the road - solved!

  • this is so old :O it's only been 3 years and Hanoi's changed so much, the skyline is totally different, and we got rid of shit loads of motorcycles and replace it with another shit loads of cars and i dont think there are more than 3 houses that is painted yellow standing in the same corner anymore

  • @nubeoxinh You're right. I am here now and it has changed quite a lot since my last visit three years ago. I've been saying to my friends that I have noticed more cars and less bikes, but they haven't really noticed, so I'm glad someone else has realised this! Shops and roads are starting to improve too.

  • two honks means "i'm coming from left"

One honk means "i'm coming from the right". 3 honks means "move right i'm faster". holding the horn 25 seconds means :" Im a truck, not stopping so please move away"

  • Horn is basically useless

  • the place where i'd finally find my horn being useful

  • That's freaking scary. I can't believe there were even pedestrians. I would probably peed my pants. Lol.

  • there can be some perfect flats around there. Quiet place to learn after the school.

  • Vietnam population is exploding and sooner or latter she will have to start a a war, my guess is her neighbor to the north. With the American minds and equipment, I think vietnam would give it a try soon (read today china daily for preparation)

  • this isnt the worst, but the funniest intersection to watch. love the 0:08 -- 0:14

  • This is why I love Vietnam....

Being Viet, I love having that freedom

Riding at night, with family was the best.....

All the food and bubbles drinks you can buy.....

  • ...but did you notice the brown bear moonwalking?

  • so much freedom here, ants family

  • even though traffics like this it's rare to see accidents everyone drives SLOWLY and carefully. I've been there 4 times. and the only accident i saw was a little bump to a lady's scooter. people in the bus were so kind to help her and her scooter onto the bus. and this video was posted 3 years ago as you can see. the economy of Vietnam has much improved since then.

  • there's no accident at all, what are you expecting ??

  • 3 thing:1where is the trafic light 2 where is the camra and 3 10:00 ong!!!!!!

  • As long as no one makes any sudden changes in speed or direction, it works!

  • i think its beautiful :)

  • this is when that intersection actually had lanes and lines and stuff. All worn away now, everybody goes everywhere

  • there is no fucking 1 red light mates==funny huh

  • Why are there even lines painted in the roads?

  • this is probably a good system if you have a high population like this place obviously does, imagine what it would be like it there was a stop light. Gridlock?

  • it looks like some kind of chaotic Ballet.

  • If everybody beeps, the horn becomes useless...

  • There are few accidents. Probably because they're actually paying attention, which a lack of tends to be the reason behind most crashes...

  • @TalonWolf Actually, there are A LOT of accidents, so many that they have put up a sign in one of the biggest intersections in Hanoi that does a Live count up of the amount of accidents (If i remeber correctly, might have been deaths cant remeber) per month or something like that, and it was A LOOOOOOOOOOT, no joke.

  • @bobisbrown Yea? Huh. Someone who'd been there told me there were next to none. Perhaps it was a lucky month on the accidentometer =)

  • @bobisbrown FYI that clock is not working :)

Btw it's certainly not the worst yet. And the video was made 3 years ago. It's much crazier these days.

  • no offence, but they barely have accidents.

  • vietnamese driving very good :D

  • vietnamese driving very good :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • lawless. chaotic. uncivilized.

  • beep beep beep

  • are there ANY laws in Vietnam at all?? sometimes I wonder...

  • Haha, at :10 watch the white one just roll thru the buses without a care in the world

  • it looks quite easy actually, u just kinda take ure time and move slow. im going in september.... cant wait

  • how does nobody just smash into eachother? this is like watching a giant flock of birds flying in unison or something.

  • @xialong123 Exactly, if that's your observation then you totally got the point of this video. The power and beauty of chaos and complexity theory. self organising systems. Out of this chaos there comes harmony and order and out of order there comes this chaos (think Western streets where there are so many traffic lights, signs, restrictions everything so "ordered") yet we have so many accidents, so many traffic jams, gridlocked streets. Many people would not make such an astute observation

  • Why bother honking your horn? lol!

  • tourist: AHH, A BUS!! A BUS!! STOP!!

driver: no, my friend... i go now..

tourist:NO NO! NO NO!!! *close eyes*

    *beep beep*

    driver: we are here...

tourist: *jumps up and kiss the ground* AH, I'M ALIVE!!

  • i would hate to be a hobo there.... All the loud honking will drive me mad!

  • SOME ONE HAS TO GET HIT EVERYDAY !!!!!

  • Beep beep...coming through..beep beep...watch out...beep beep beep...don't touch me...beep beep...get out of the way...beep beep beep...can't see you...beep beep...ain't stoppin for no one...beep beep...made it!

  • How does people not crash?!? If traffic all the sudden was like this in the states the hostpitols would be filled up in 10 mins.

  • and no one gets hurt...

  • funtastic!!

Personality...and EGO ("""you are in my way!!! """ how dare you!!"") is such a evil thing!!

  • nightmare!

  • Well, this is the intersection leading to the Old quarter. No light at all. The traffic is slow. In Hanoi, most intersections have traffic lights.

People should notice that this is the worst, not the typical.

  • khong co den 1 cay den giao thong that la nguy hiem,

  • Nah, i used to live there for five years, and believe me, ive seen worse, and this is completely normal in vietnam lol

and the incredible thing is, it really works! there are almost no fatal traffic accidents in the cities, they all happen in the countryside

  • đánh cho Mỹ cút

đánh cho khúc ruột ngàn dặm nhào

  • Oh ive been to vietnam many times. this is normal .. because they all ride at a slow pace .. its safe =)

  • no traffic lights?

no traffic police man to arrange?

    that is wow amazing haha

  • Well for all of those wondering, this is just regular life for vietnamese people. For example for you seeing this is a bit odd, but there are alot of other things asians see you guys doing (american) are odd to them. Keep that in mind.

  • Regardless of what "country" it is, this is the most sensible intersection to me.

  • why would you want to live in a place like that?? no offense

  • @spanishnavax things are cheap, food is good, women are hot (if you know where to go) just don't drink the water or the ice lol

  • @spanishnavax

Hawaiian style beaches at the fraction of the cost. Vietnams the tourist destination now a days. Traffics a bitch tho but who cares.

  • @spanishnavax Most of us dónt have the choice to choose where to live UNLESS JUMPING THE FENCE.

  • There is mostly Vietnam Asian people in Sweden...

  • You sure they ain't from Thailand!? Because there ain't much emigration from Vietnam

  • @SMGJohn nope.. Its Vietnamese.

  • You sure!? It sais on this website there is more emigrants from Thailand then Vietnam

  • @SMGJohn YES! ~43% of all Sweden's Asian if you don't count middle east are from Vietnam, Taiwan 3%, Malaysia 5%, Hongkong 3%, Singapore 2%, China 34%. No Thailand included.. But I'm not so sure anymore, this graph is from 1996. And now, there has been a huge emigration with Swedish men marring Thailand womens.

  • How do you cross the street?

  • Run and pray you dont get hit?

  • well, just like me, used to live there, and saw American people in shopping mall and I just wondered if the shoppers collide with each other all the time? NOPE, it's just like on bikes, scooters and motors

  • this is so unbelievably moronic - if they don't have money for a traffic light (which I doubt since the roads are paved pretty nicely), then just put a human traffic conductor in the middle of that road to direct traffic! I mean, this is just stupidity at its worst...

  • And why, exactly, would anyone stop for the traffic conductor?

  • umm because they would be ticketed or jailed, thats why.

  • hahahahaha

  • hahaha

  • you have obviously Never been to Vietnam Maria. They don't usually stop at red lights either.

Its more of a warning that vehicles can be coming from the other direction, but chances are they already are

  • Just imagine how much revenue the government can create by just ticketing all these dumbasses driving all over the place. Just put 100 cops on this intersection and give em all tickets and then they could raise the ground level with cement so cars can't drive over where people should be walking.

And create public transit. Looks like everyone is responsible for their own transportation over there.

But then again, if Vietnam wants chaos, there is nobody to help.

  • these drivers arent breaking any rules, this traffic is nothing, i dont get why the guy named it worst intersection, it aint even close.

  • They don't have a solid judicial system to actually track any tickets like they have in the U.S! So it wouldn't work...

  • y don't they ban the horn? it clearly has no use! except making downtown a noisy place to live

    diit diit diit

  • worst??? lol u obviously havent seen saigons traffic

  • I have seen Saigon but this corner is probably the most dangerous corner i have seen

  • @japertdmd This is nothing compare to saigon's traffic.

  • This isn't what were you are use to in the US but check out SAIgon this is nothing

  • The traffic condition is not good, in general. But for a country of low-resource like Vietnam, it brings efficiency to us. For most of the time, the lifelines still run without traffic lights and other complicated requirements, especially for small streets. I don't advocate for this chaos, it needs improvement. But nothing is perfect. More safety and security in a complicated system require much more resources/energy, while still cause frustration, for most of the time! :)

    A Vietnamese student.

  • Y they don't have the light sign?
