I have a 2000 model Accord Type R, i can confirm mine has done an indicated 145mph before i backed off. It felt like it still had a little bit more.

I've got an immaculate 2001 Type R and you have to drive one to appreciate what they offer, they sound awesome when the engine comes on song. It matters not what the figures are (read 10 different articles and you will get 10 different figures), it is a car you will never tire of driving.

It took my 9 months of searching the Uk for mine. I wanted a low milage, full service history example, direct from a Honda Dealer. It had 35K on the clock and 4 years later we are approaching 70K and running beautifully, I get bored of cars real quick and still love mine, it makes me grin every time I bury the throttle.

Good luck with your search my friend, they are getting VERY rare now, esp if you wanna good one ehich is unmolested.

I agree. We have a standard 2.0 144bhp hatch version and its one of the most fun to drive cars I've ever owned. Handles brilliantly.

It's a shame that apart from the Type R, the normal versions look like major old man cars yet they are so much fun, and egg you on to race at the lights.

Hi Mate,

Sorry it is not for sale; mainly because I know it is a true and genuine, unmolested example. It has had a recent Cam belt service, a recent clutch (FOC courtesy of Honsda UK) and is only on 67K genuine miles. I have just put all new brake pads on it too.

It is absolutely mint and I would want way more than the market value for it.

These cars are awesome to drive and make you grin from ear to ear when you go on a "mad half hour".

thats about the speed of them. Cars have only gotten ridiculously fast in the last 5-6 years. Sub 8 seconds was considered pretty fast 10 years ago. Its a big car with only 220hp so its not going to be amazingly quick.

I didn`t think much of these cars. I thought they were bland and overrated. Then I drove one.Hands up, I have to admit they really are serious bits of machinery. I`ve had Cosworths and various other turbo charged cars and this easily competes. So being honest and coming clean the Accord Type R is an utterly brilliant motor car.

@MikeyMeyagi hi, ok ur rite, but what about those. if u compare the B16A civic Si-R which came out in 92, to the toyota 4age 20 valve silvertop, u gotta admit, that the silvertop is able to be quite competetive against the B16A vtec. even the 16 valve NA corolla GTS is able to put up a good fight. but the H22a needs a nissam pulsar SR20VE with NEO VVL for some good competition.

Still pretty slow for a 1998 car. Can't add a turbo for rallying. Only for straight drag racing.

I think real performance lies in twists and turns and enough power to exit out of them with better handling not to spin out, don't you think?

an RB20 240 with 9 psi of low boost makes 210 rwhp and it's 0-60 is a little under 6 seconds.

Official 0-62 is 7.1 but can be done in the sixes, but half of that is out of the VTEC band. Goes like stink if you redline every gearchange (7200 rpm!). I love my ATR!
