@friken0frank2 Sorry to beg to differ - but this is a video of playback - not cutting a record. The cutting head is the contraption at the right of the screen which features the cutting screw. I have a cutting machine myself (see my video here: youtube.com/ watch?v=jhnQEogFI4k ). The cutting head is not in use in the video above!
"Skylark". A Hogey Carmichael/Johnny Mercer tune performed by Harry James and his orch. Helen Forrest did the vocals.
This is the fruits of my labor restoring this machine. It was a wreck when I got it. Even had to rewind the RCA cutter head's voice coil. A rescued recorder.
how cool! I've always wanted to see a cutter in action. Being a record fanatic as I am, I've always maintained the 78's ALWAYS sounded better than than the 45's and 33's. There is a difference, mainly it's deeper and richer in the bass. Especially those released in the latter 40's into the 50's.

This really isn't a video showing how a disc is cut. It's a video of its playback.

I always wanted to see a RekOCut lathe. I would have preferred to see the cutting operation rather than the playback.
