@SeekerFang217 firstly, they have 4 legs, and you have 2, and their legs has hair grown on it, which when their back leg landed, their front leg folded and the hair on their back of their front legs, start helping their front leg sliding on the treadmill instead of doing what your face are doing...... and meantime they can slowly maneuver their back leg to jump on the treadmill again, hope I answered your question.

@SeekerFang217 This is because cats have 4 legs, which mean frontal support, which mean better balance. We humans, compared to cats, are more top heavy. And then, on top of that, that sudden stop of motion would send your lower half backward, and your upper half forward. The same would happen is the cats were walking with 2 feet on the tread mill. If you would be willing to attempt to get down on all 4's on a treadmill, then stop suddenly, you will be doing the same as the cats.
