Two things about this whole story..at the end of part 2 when voldermort kills harry..and dracos mom walks up to harry motionless body..why does she say "Draco" while seeing if harry is alive or dead?? and during snapes memory..is that taking place in the very beginning of the entire story (a little after voldermort killed lily, etc) or at the beginning of half blood prince a little after dumbledore gets the curse from the ring? Someone please fill in the blanks..

@Tool78Maynard Actualy they should have made her question more clear, You're absolutely right about that. In the book she asks: "Is draco alive, is he in the castle?" She asks this to Harry because she knows that he came from the castle and because she can't go to the castle to check on her son unles Voldemort thinks he won. Narcissa Malfoy, at that point, is scared for her family. She just wants the war to be over so she can be safley w/her son. I'm not sure whether she is good even though she helped Harry by not saying he's alive, but I'm sure she still thinks purebloods are better. Snape's memories expand over a period of time, from when Voldemort killed the Potters to the present.
He wanted to be respected by Voldemort and he wanted to make sure they believed him to be a death eater. Also he probably wanted to help him out of his misery.
Snape just had a terrible past and later one just got into deeper and deeper into the dark... And you would think Snape would have led Voldemort on so he could go help harry potter or something.. and ultimately he would have to return to hogwarts' side anyway.. WB is pushing for Fiennes over Rickman in their Official 40 page 'Consider' Oscar Booklet. I was so furious when I saw the blatant push for Fiennes. There are dozens of review quotes that they could have used to give Alan his own page (as Fiennes has) but no. My hopes for an Oscar nod have died because I know now that WB will put their efforts towards Fiennes when we and the reviewers know Alan is the one who deserves it. What an unfair, sickening world!

Snape actually never murdered Dumbledore, it was pre-arranged for him to commit a "mercy killing" on Dumbledore as he was dying anyway, I don't think Snape banked on Harry seeing him do it -mean it was Snape whom cared about Harry all these years not Dumbledore.
Best character to grace the big screne and in a book as well. A hero is defines as a man distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, fortitude, and etc. Severus Snape had showed those qualities towards being faithful to Dumbledore. So he is and will always be a hero.

When Severus casts 'Avada Kedavra', you can hear a slight hitch in his voice. I love Alan's acting. It seems like he's just heartlessly killed his mentor, but there's that subtle hint that it's breaking his heart to do so.
@popcornzoe There wasn't anything subtle about that scene. You could see that there was something more to it just by looking at Snape's face. I kinda feel bad for people who couldn't identify the foreshadowing.
@Crenepo Well it's obvious if you'd read the books, but there's so much backstory left out from the films that a lot of information kind of drifts. But it's been ages since I've seen HBP so I probably have to go back and watch that scene again. Perhaps you're right; it might be a bit more obvious than I first thought, but in the short clip they showed here the way he said Avada Kedavra just really stood out to me.
@frankael She's still in the DA in the movie, too. And I was SO looking forward to seeing the Ravenclaw common room, but they cut it from the film. Sigh.

Snape has always been (and always will be) my favourite Harry Potter character, and my favourite character from any book. :) I'd let hip Slytherin any day. :D
I've been a book/literature freak since I was 3 years old and I can safely say that Severus Snape is the most complex and intriguing character I've ever come across. Although I've liked Snape from book one and had a feeling that he wasn't 'evil', the tragic love story between him and Lily completely floored me. I don't think anyone on this Earth can say that they saw that one coming.
@fidget1992008 I saw it coming from book 5 onwards. I realized that something was going on between them when she tried to defend him as James was bullying him. It was his worst memory because what he said to her (calling her a mudblood) caused the end of their friendship.
tbh near to the end of this film it was a bit sickening. what with all the dead students piled up in the courtyard, i mean the kids and even in most horror movies the little kids never die or they dont add them in, but they went too far killing fred :( rons face was horrible :/
He may not be "nice" ... but his allegiance to good has been unwavering from the beginning.

Thumbs up if you agree that Severus Snape was the true hero. Not Harry Potter. He had to kill his best friend. Had to be at bay at the man who killed the woman he loved. Had to fight his own friends. And had to protect the boy who always gave him attitude and hated him. And in the end, what did he get in return? Death. A true hero, died a hero, will live on as a hero.

Would you be able to face Voldemort knowing that it could result in your possible death in order to protect the rebels at Hogwarts? the death of snape and the pensieve scene was very well done in the film to the point where it made me cry and i never cry at movies. J.K. Rowling is a genius in making Snape the character that he is <3
I trusted Snape until he killed Dumbledore. It was a total shock that he seemed to be loyal to Voldemort after all. When I read the whole story about him in book 7, I remember staring at the book, only thinking 'this is sooooo brilliant! JK Rowling, you're a genious. He is the good guy after all'
I think that that is why I love the character of Snape the most, because he is so much more than he seems to be.

I love this movie because you can see snape's emotions. In 1-6 you can see that he has any. No matter if something good, bad, sad, or funny happens, he has no expression. However, you can see it in DHpt2. For example, when Harry says "how dare you stand where he stoos (etc),", you can see the pain in his face. He doesn't want to do this anymore.
Snape was the only death eater who could fly besides voldemort. (according to the book) he was my very favorite character, and had the saddest but greatest story.
Who doubted Snape after the 1st book? Even Harry learns that early in their relationship that Snape was trying to protect him (from Quirrell's incantation), not harm him, as he'd first thought. And all doubt had to be removed when Snape's 1st, unhesitating reaction to seeing Lupin as a werewolf was to throw out his arms & shepherd the children behind him...his deepest instincts are to protect. He sacrificed all, knowing he'd be hated, feared, distrusted, & in constant danger. For Lily. For love.
when i watched harry potter and the deathly hallows part two, i started sobbing so loud when he died everyone stared at me aand even threatened to have me kicked out of the theater i love him soooooo mmuch!!!!
When Snape died, I swear I lost it in the theater. I was seriously struggling to stifle my sobs when Harry was looking at Snape's memories. I mean, did he really have to die?

The worst part for me is not that Snape never got to be with Lily, but that no one truly recognized him as a hero. He had to stand there with his colleagues and students hating him, all not knowing how much he had given up and how unrelentingly he obeyed Dumbledore.
I would literally sob with joy if, in that Great Hall, everyone knew what Snape did for Harry and applauded him, just like Hagrid's return in the 'Chamber of Secrets,' with Alan Rickman cracking a beaming, radiant smile.

Honestly, she says there is no purely good or evil character except Voldemort, but I think Snape is, or at least has become, a kind of unusual opposite to Voldy. Of all the characters, he's the only one that remained truly selfless throughout the whole series - even Dumbledore had his ups and downs, but Snape was the only constant.
I've always had mixed feelings about Snape. Most of the times he was a creep around Harry and his friends. But in a strange way, he proved himself worthy of Harry's respect by the time of his death. Plus, his memories were quite depressing. So in a strange way, I pity him.

When Severus casts 'Avada Kedavra', you can hear a slight hitch in his voice. I love Alan's acting. It seems like he's just heartlessly killed his mentor, but there's that subtle hint that it's breaking his heart to do so.

@popcornzoe There wasn't anything subtle about that scene. You could see that there was something more to it just by looking at Snape's face. I kinda feel bad for people who couldn't identify the foreshadowing.

@Crenepo Well it's obvious if you'd read the books, but there's so much backstory left out from the films that a lot of information kind of drifts. But it's been ages since I've seen HBP so I probably have to go back and watch that scene again. Perhaps you're right; it might be a bit more obvious than I first thought, but in the short clip they showed here the way he said Avada Kedavra just really stood out to me.

I've been a book/literature freak since I was 3 years old and I can safely say that Severus Snape is the most complex and intriguing character I've ever come across. Although I've liked Snape from book one and had a feeling that he wasn't 'evil', the tragic love story between him and Lily completely floored me. I don't think anyone on this Earth can say that they saw that one coming.

@fidget1992008 I saw it coming from book 5 onwards. I realized that something was going on between them when she tried to defend him as James was bullying him. It was his worst memory because what he said to her (calling her a mudblood) caused the end of their friendship.

tbh near to the end of this film it was a bit sickening. what with all the dead students piled up in the courtyard, i mean the kids and even in most horror movies the little kids never die or they dont add them in, but they went too far killing fred :( rons face was horrible :/

He risked his life continuously by pretending to double-cross Dumbledore, but truly double-crossing Voldemort. He may have disliked Harry, but he helped him on numerous occasions to destroy Voldemort.

Thumbs up if you agree that Severus Snape was the true hero. Not Harry Potter. He had to kill his best friend. Had to be at bay at the man who killed the woman he loved. Had to fight his own friends. And had to protect the boy who always gave him attitude and hated him. And in the end, what did he get in return? Death. A true hero, died a hero, will live on as a hero.

Would you be able to face Voldemort knowing that it could result in your possible death in order to protect the rebels at Hogwarts? And don't forget that it was Snape who showed hatred toward Harry first simply because he resembled his father James. Had he not done so Harry probably would not have hated him in the first place.

I trusted Snape until he killed Dumbledore. It was a total shock that he seemed to be loyal to Voldemort after all. When I read the whole story about him in book 7, I remember staring at the book, only thinking 'this is sooooo brilliant! JK Rowling, you're a genious. He is the good guy after all'
I think that that is why I love the character of Snape the most, because he is so much more than he seems to be.

I love this movie because you can see snape's emotions. In 1-6 you can see that he has any. No matter if something good, bad, sad, or funny happens, he has no expression. However, you can see it in DHpt2. For example, when Harry says "how dare you stand where he stoos (etc),", you can see the pain in his face. He doesn't want to do this anymore.

Who doubted Snape after the 1st book? Even Harry learns that early in their relationship that Snape was trying to protect him (from Quirrell's incantation), not harm him, as he'd first thought. And all doubt had to be removed when Snape's 1st, unhesitating reaction to seeing Lupin as a werewolf was to throw out his arms & shepherd the children behind him...his deepest instincts are to protect. He sacrificed all, knowing he'd be hated, feared, distrusted, & in constant danger. For Lily. For love.

The worst part for me is not that Snape never got to be with Lily, but that no one truly recognized him as a hero. He had to stand there with his colleagues and students hating him, all not knowing how much he had given up and how unrelentingly he obeyed Dumbledore.
I would literally sob with joy if, in that Great Hall, everyone knew what Snape did for Harry and applauded him, just like Hagrid's return in the 'Chamber of Secrets,' with Alan Rickman cracking a beaming, radiant smile.

Honestly, she says there is no purely good or evil character except Voldemort, but I think Snape is, or at least has become, a kind of unusual opposite to Voldy. Of all the characters, he's the only one that remained truly selfless throughout the whole series - even Dumbledore had his ups and downs, but Snape was the only constant.

I've always had mixed feelings about Snape. Most of the times he was a creep around Harry and his friends. But in a strange way, he proved himself worthy of Harry's respect by the time of his death. Plus, his memories were quite depressing. So in a strange way, I pity him.
